    21st century and Florida is just now saying "Hey! We could but power lines underground!"

    • @anderander5662

      I think that should be mandatory countrywide

    • @Temporal_Assassin
      @Temporal_Assassin 3 месяца назад +3

      @@anderander5662 In most cases I agree. Unfortunately My power is hydro, from a basin 20+ miles away, and the lines run along the side of 2 mountains, so not possible, and even in town there is a lot of bedrock and in my case glacial rock. 😒 Cheers!

    • @anderander5662
      @anderander5662 3 месяца назад +1

      @Temporal_Assassin Where I live it's flat with deep sand and no rock, plus numerous storms....relatively easy to bury lines.

    • @FlyByWire1
      @FlyByWire1 3 месяца назад +2

      They have been building new power lines underground for years in Florida. The issue is the ones in existence that ARENT below ground, the cost to tear up the ground or existing infrastructure to place older lines below ground is astronomical. The cost cannot be justified by power companies or by the public and that’s why there is very little funding to actually do that. It is much more expensive to do that than to repair above ground ones when a storm knocks them down.

      "One house at a time" - it will take 100 years to put cables underground for the State. By then Florida will be 6 feet underwater, so no power because all your electronics are underwater - not because of the cables!

Like for the first aid kit, have a kit with you but knowhow to use the contents. Also, personal items like having prescription medication, glasses/contact lens, etc.
