I was not a huge fan of MWC, but I did always like Al’s character, and particularly this aspect, where despite being a miserable, washed up, bitter, resentful and almost broken man, there still lurks this hidden badass underneath it all.

There's one scene in the last season where Bud, Al's son, is concerned he will have to fight his cousin who is twice Bud's size. Al starts to give advice to Bud by telling Bud that he had to face a lot of big, tough bullies growing up. Peg interrupts Al and says, "No, Al, in high school, you were the big, tough bully." Al grins and says, "I was. But I wasn't just big and tough. I was mean too." So Al has been beating up people all his life.
After one of those scenes where Al throws out one of Kelly's boyfriends, Kelly gets up and says, "Thanks, Dad. Now I'll never know his name." The first scene the kid was more shocked than scared because the whole family just ate a ton of food at the movie theater counter while the worker's back was turned for a few seconds. Al then tried to accuse the worker of giving them empty containers of popcorn and candy.

I wish beer bottles broke that easily, it takes a lot of force and it's like getting hit with a rock. Sadly you can't solve problems with your fists anymore, too many people hide behind lawyers and police after running their mouths.
So true. Life was much easier when you could just fight it out, without fear of getting arrested for it. I made a couple of good friends by getting into fights with them, because there's a certain amount of respect that goes along with handling problems 1 on 1, face to face. After the fight the loser would usually say something along the lines of- good fight you win, and everything was back to normal the next day.
I only got hit with a beer bottle once and it didn't break like on TV. The stupid thing is that I hit myself with it to see how hard it was to do.
@@tonycardone990 even if both parties agree to "Mutual Combat" only the states of Texas and Washington allow it. But it also seems you can't even book a ring or octagon at a training facility, with a referee, for a fight without getting permission from a fight commission. Some states wont even let you "Stand Your Ground" if someone attacks you first. Society protects assholes, which is sad, because people don't have to take responsibility for their actions.
@@tonycardone990 in many parts of this country, even if both parties agree to fight, and both agree to not press charges or file a lawsuit, the police can still charge both parties with like a public disturbance. Plus if the loser feels like it, they can change their mind, pressing charges and pursuing a law suit.
The episode that you are speaking of is the one where Bud turns 18 and Al takes him to a nude bar.
