For single protein items such as sausages or meat, you turn the crisper plate around and it then sits in the high position where the rack should sit. This is in the instruction manual. You will then get much better crisping/cooking of items when you are single stacking. Just putting things in the bottom makes top side cook and not the bottom. Takes a minute or two less time also.

Agreed. There are a few minor changes but as you say, not enough at that price over the XL.
Although I much prefer it in black.
Hopefully one day they (or someone) will make a stacked air fryer that uses a top down heating element to eliminate that uneven cooking.
