Something I wanted to throw in is the fact that nobody involved with the server got feedback on any bans bsg had conducted individually… Our only job was to get rid of the useless clips and filter down to clips that were suspicious, not make ANY final decisions or call anyone a cheater in the first place. I know that is the reason many of you feared the Discord, and I shrugged off these concerns because I was so sure this was NOT the case. Until the truth became clear…

They’re capable of changing things and listening to these issues without taking it personally. They’re a game dev company. Their players deserve that same respect, considering we paid money to be subject to these issues. I hope they come out of this with solutions, and not excuses or moving of goalposts.

I'm a game developer that has worked on games with cheating problems before. The unfortunate truth is that all you're really doing by having that community server, is making BSG more money. Every time a cheater is banned, they go buy another account. BSG has incentive to ban cheaters, but not to make anti-cheat for their game. I know this because I've seen it before, you'd be surprised how many cheats could be patched by big developers if they wanted to. While banning cheaters faster (even through manual systems) does reduce the amount of cheaters you'd see in games, it won't solve the 60+% of cheaters that toggle esp in raid. A replay system won't even fix it either. What you really need is a better anti-cheat, which targets the cheat developers rather than the cheaters. If you take them out, or at least delay them, it'll have the same effect on everyone who uses their software.
In short, the community discord server is nice, but wouldn't solve the cheating problem in Tarkov.

    • @SerSniffles
      @SerSniffles Год назад

Dev here too, a replay/overwatch system like CSGO definitely would help. I can clearly tell if somebody is using ESP based on where they’re looking and what they’re checking. For example if they don’t clear any angles and push out onto site looking exactly where the opponent is you know they have ESP. Also taking out cheat developers is like taking out drug dealers, another one will always come along. It’s no good focusing attention like this as it’s a losing battle just like the war on drugs.

@@prymexxxx It's really hard to say whether or not someone is cheating in this game, and trust you me; a lot of cheaters will go as far as to chat with you for an hour to prove you otherwise, BUT at the same time, I was falsely banned in CSGO by their so called Overwatch system last year and most people assume that I cheated and will cheat again even though that's not the case. It's been 212 days and I'm still banned even after having several people vouch for me, make social media posts, and try to have valve look into it, I even had a chat with Sparkles (known csgo youtuber), but in the end, no one has any "proof" except for the game developers and there's not much that can be done. For all you know I could be making this up, or try to defend cheaters or whatever, there's no way of knowing except for the good ol' "trust me bro". False bans sure do suck and I hope your guy doesn't get banned if he was in fact not cheating, but regardless that's not on you and you shouldn't feel bad about it. After seeing the hacks available, I see how i was wronged for maybe 20 to 50% of the time, it may not have been my fualt.

I started seeing these compounding issues almost 3 years ago and sure I'm not a streamer or anything special but when I used to point things out to friends and people I would play with I was called insane and an attention seeker for just voicing concerns over issues that were rapidly popping up. From bsg seeming to care less and less with each year, the major bugs just being tossed aside because they seemingly don't want to work on them, the test servers only being used to test the most minor of things and to such a miniscule amount to where the testing is basically for nothing, and the rampant issue with cheaters growing by the year to where I don't think I've experienced a single day when I was playing this wipe where I wasn't killed through a wall, floor, or any other concealment. Right now this once phenomenal game with a unique vision is becoming an ever growing regret as I feel all those hours I've sank into the game has been just to watch it die a pathetic death.

Being able to own up to your mistakes and apologize is a big W in my opinion, but I wish you had never gone down this road. I've got 15 years on you and I would have been in right here with you in your shoes back then, you clearly care about the community and the health of the game and just want EVERYTHING to be better, but this is not something YOU can fix, even with a team of people backing you up.
Cheating has been around in video games for decades and will continue to evolve alongside anti-cheat, you are going to be fighting, winning and losing this Battle for as long as you want to champion it. I don't want to sound like a defeatist, this is just my personal opinion, I'm getting older and just tired of it, I can see your passion in my past self and just want to warn you that it can get to you. Looking at everything that the community has done to try and help Tarkov, and still continuing to hit a brick wall, I just don't think it's worth the extra effort anymore, hit that report button, hope for the best and move on.
This is on BSG, and this is on Battleye. Everyone has the report button and everyone should continue to use it, clips help, but **** reports should not carry more weight just because there is a clip backing it up **** , the report button should actually mean and do something and BSG and Battleye should be held accountable for making that button WORK and being just as transparent as you are now.

I think you're being a little short sighted with this, and I hope you and BSG can continue your work together provided that both you and BSG continue to iterate and improve the system (and your agreed upon vision for anti-cheat measures).
    Allow me to explain:
First of all, any system (automated or not) will make mistakes. I think the common consensus right now is that Valorant Vanguard is doing the best job to keep cheaters out of a free to play game, which in itself is a great achievement. But I'm sure even Vanguard has had false bans. So I wouldn't beat myself up even if your discord indirectly caused dylhero's ban.
Secondly, regardless of your status as a streamer/sherpa/community KOL/ or whatever BSG calls you, any collaboration you have with BSG will surely be conducted with an imbalance of power. To put it simply, they tell you what to do, not the other way around. It SHOULD be this way because there is a massive asymmetry of information (some argue that there's too much asymmetry in BSG's case, but that's another discussion altogether). You are not part of the development team, and therefore should not take responsibility for decisions made regarding any operating procedures. They should man up and take responsibility. You COULD say that dylhero was banned because of your work with BSG, or you could say that dylhero was banned because BSG's internal process for cheat validation/vetting is problematic. At the very least, the fact that they have no effective channel for anyone to appeal bans when they themselves are implementing a human based/data-assisted anti-cheat system is a massive problem that I'm sure they are aware of.
Lastly, you tried to improve a system within a working product with hundreds of thousands of daily active players (no clue what the actual numbers are, just guessin), it's hard work. If you went into this expecting no false bans or mistakes to be made, I think that's a bit naive. Success doesn't come from geniuses with brilliant ideas, they come from ordinary people with the stamina to go the distance. Usually that stamina is passion driven, so don't let this video snuff any passion for both you and BSG.
I do hope you can repair any damage this video may have done to your relationship with BSG, and hope you guys can continue to work towards improving the anti-cheat system. Experienced tarkov players are invaluable assets to them, or should be.
Don't beat urself up, and stay cool in the future.

The server you helped make was a great idea. It reminded me of the ability to create manual reports for rainbow six siege directly on their website and provide clips. I remember in 2016-2018 the cheating problem in Siege consisted of fly hackers and teleporters instantly killing the entire team.
The ability to manually report these with a clip definitely resulted in a faster time to ban. As there weren't as many people manually submitting these reports, and I assume those reports are more closely looked at because there are fewer.
This server reminded me of that. If BSG had a proper system in place like you thought they had (because they said they had a system) then it could have been great.
I think it could have single handedly all but eliminated the rage hacking and God mode. As it would only take ONE BLATANT clip of fly rage hacking submitted manually to result in that person/account getting banned.
But without the process, like you said, innocent people may catch the ban hammer. And that only happens if BSG is falling short on their du diligence of researching and pulling logs from the accounts/servers.
It's a shame it didn't work out. But you're doing the right thing. Hopefully BSG will come around and save the game. But I'm not too optimistic. They've said time and time again that Tarkov was never supposed to be this big. It was supposed to make money for Russia 2028. Which it has. And that's their passion project. It will be a single player campaign. Cheaters won't really be a thing. I think they'll keep throwing bandages on this game until they can get to work on that passion project. And once that game is out of even just in Beta; support for Tarkov will most definitely fall off significantly.

You quickly touched on the sad reality of all this news.. I’ve not been a committed EFT player in the past, but instead jump on a wipe mid through, maybe a few hours here and there.
The knowledge I have now of the rampant cheater group dissuades me from ever touching it again. And a great game it was.

Hey @trey24k Thanks for the intent behind your movement, it gave those of us who are playing the game legit some kind of hope that something can come from this. The people who download cheats, nor the Dev team should get any kind of "pass". Both parties are doing the wrong thing and I hope that sooner or later they will implement a better solution to the cheating. How ever those who cheat, will always be stuck in the San Adrea's cheat code mentality. Anyways thank you for trying something, thank you for your hard work, and thank you for the update!

As a person who has be falsely banned twice now (gotten account back both times) it feels helpless and that no one is going to help (no one really can). Now that anyone can be banned for outplaying people at times or a bug I feel that if I go into raid and kill the wrong person at the wrong time that's it account gone forever. Honestly if I get false banned again I'm not even going to bother to appeal if BSG is just deciding off of clips, put 3k hours in my EOD account over 2+ years I think I've got my moneys worth at that point.

One thing to keep in mind about DillHero is his stats are top 1%. Like, his kd is a cheater kd because hes so good so BSG probably assumed the report to be accurate because of that.

Being a hacker myself it's super clear when you see another hacker. Why not just start turning hack users against themselves. If you send in a clip like a wall bang wiggle or how some players have a k/d in the 20s you get a small reward like 100 rounds of gucci ammo.

honestly gotta be under a rock to not fathom that.

i do agree with this 100% ive had the same happen to others i know with the RMT bans and i ban ive got my self with this wave BSG has banned 2 players i know for giving gear back mutiple times
and for me banning a player who has played 5 wipes for this wipe to be banned for killing players in labs and running into cheaters left and right hopefully BSG will start doing some new things cause at this point it seems they dont care

The further into development Tarkov goes just makes it clearer that BSG is a small indie dev that is incapable developing a game as complex as Tarkov. Kinda losing hope that we will ever see Tarkov in a state with decent audio, performance, balance and a heavily reduced amount of cheaters.

I dont know why anyone thinks its even sustainable for a company like BSG to dedicate staff to manually review suspected cheating instances on an ongoing basis. THE ONLY WAY to fix this, is to fix the game, and fix the anti-cheat

Perhaps AI will play a role in identifying cheaters in the future. I can't understand why players aren't banned when their stats should show an atypical ability to win encounters or obvious vectoring based on other players "hidden" locations. I just watched a video recently where a youtuber loaded ESP just to see who was actively cheating and found groups of cheaters as well as a "wiggle" that they use to identify each other which can only be noticed by another cheater.
