If you want the hook to work more realistically: Add a small lead fishing weight to the chain, just over the hook. There are plenty of small lead fishing weights which pinch onto the line by clamping. What stops the hook from running well is that the current weight of the hook is insufficient to draw the chain. You must add weight! Which is exactly what real cranes do!
