      @@MrsSoapAndClay I use canola oil to replace olive oil. A friend of mine is allergic to olives...but I noticed the soap made with canola and coconut is much better than my soaps made with olive oil. So I still put a small amount of olive oil in it just so I can say "made with olive oil" but the main carrier is canola oil...with the exception of the soaps made for my friend who can't do olives and olive oil. Canola is just better.

      @@peepla7intresting, didn’t know olives could be an allergen. Thanks for the info, I’ll definitely try a soap without it 😊

    • @peepla7
      @peepla7 4 месяца назад +1

      @mitty2575 anything can be an allergen. It's not a common allergen...in fact until I started making soap ...I had never heard of it, until asked for an olive free soap. That friend has her own soap mold so I don't accidentally add trace amounts via the mold. I also have come across two customers that cannot do coconut oil. I can't use Shea. That's why soaping is great ..you can customize.

    Quick question. How would you label these? If you are using scraps from like 3 different bars with 6 different colorants and eos? Would all of those have to go on the lable? Or would it be better to keep them separate, smaller batches?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  5 месяцев назад +2

      You’d need to put everything on the label, so for sure I group things. I only use soap scraps from the same recipes (oil blends, etc) when doing this so my ingredient list isn’t a million miles long.

    Oh yes! I've got a batch of sea moss soap I need to rebatch! And I've never tried melt and pour yet ... can you share why you use beeswax, and how much you used in this batch?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay

      Hey! Any sort of wax will do, or a stearic acid. It helps with hardening.

      Thanks! I wondered if it would interfere with lather, but I'm going to have to run a few trials 😊 I should also dig up an old recipe I made in the '90s, which turned out to be highly cuttable for just about forever! (Why have I not made this in all these years since??!! 😮)

    Hi, i was rewatching your coffee oil infusion video and it raised a question. What would've happened if you were to use the oil from that melted cup? What would the effects be on skin and hair?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  4 месяца назад +1

      Oh, the destroyed one? In reality, nothing would happen. But the melted plastic could contain carcinogens, so from a business perspective, the oil had to be thrown out as part of good manufacturing practices.

    With lush soaps, i see in all their soap ingredient list they have sodium chloride & sodium bicarb. Why would those be in there.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  4 месяца назад

      Hey! Good question. Sodium bicarb (baking soda) is a weaker base that can be used in their rebatch process if they need to add additional oils to their soap noodles and get a new emulsion, which is why I think it’s probably listed. Sodium chloride is table salt and can be used to “salt out” excess water in a batch, separating the solid soap from the water and making it ready for sale faster.

I honestly don't have the time working 40+ hours outside of home and 30 hours in my business. If you're currently unable to, I completely understand 😊
