- In this video, we take a look at OnlyOffice. In my opinion the best MS office alternative on Windows, if your focus is on compatibility.

Surprising that a vim enthusiast uses word and microsoft. I'd have expected you to write in pure Tex with embedded EPS files.🥰 Honestly found your tip extremely helpful.
Sure but when a client or professor sends me an Excel file, unfortunately I cannot process it in Vim :/
I totally agree with you. Libre Office is a great stand alone suite. However, if you have to go back and forth between MS Office and a Linux office suite, OnlyOffice is your only real option. I have a document in MS Word that has a lot of formatting (footnotes, headers, images, bibliography etc.) When I opened the .doc in Libre Write it was a hot mess with only about 75% accuracy. Even the pagination was off. When I opened the same .doc in OnlyOffice it correctly rendered about 95%. Nothing is perfect, but Only Office is the closest, hands down. This video apparently installed OnlyOffice using Snap. If you are using Debian, Mint or other distros that do not use Snap, OnlyOffice can be found in Flatpak. Great video!
WRONG! WPS Office is the ONLY option.....try the Presenter part of Only Office or ANY Linux Office and See...they are ALL extremely pathetic except WPS Office and Softmaker Office.
This is great. I am using Fedora. Where are the icons supposed to be or how do I get them?
thanks
Merci. Will give it a try on my Ubuntu right now
What you have for your Linux setup
As someone currently doing a Masters at University they expect DOCx for assessment submissions and yes OO does display and is more compatible but a tool I use (Zotero) does not have a connector for the standalone and that is a HUGE killer for OO, I am looking forward to the new versions of LO coming (as in changing from 7.x and up to LO.24)
Currently using a windows vm for my thesis (just a couple weeks left!). Wish I could just access that crap online but it definitely doesn't have the functionality (zotero being one) I need, sadly. Good luck with your program!
I gave up on windows years ago, but I still have to work with people who are stuck with it.
This is a useful tool for those times. 🙂
Same
I installed this and all I see is giant zoomed in GUI and I can't find the way to get it to a workable scale. What I also miss is Access
i dont know if it should be a goal at all to have linux feel like windows, i guess having that level of compatability is nice
Thank you :)
Thank you 🙂
Does this OnlyOffice Spreadsheet have tables? Not named or formatted ranges or named cells, but tables. This is what I'm always missing in all those Excel alternatives and up to this day no-one seems to be able to recreate this very simple and extremely useful feature of Excel.
Have you checked if table is available?
@@tenand11 No, that's why I'm asking.
I have both and use them depending on the kind of document I'm on
Biggest issue is there really ain't anything that can compete with outlook when it comes to a business.
Chat how do i use $ in only office spreadsheets?
Thank you.
Only office is OK but it does not support typing from right to left (Libre does).
What you suggest for Access? As I know OnlyOffice dont have alternative for it.
Libreoffice has 'base.' I think that is your best chance.
If you are looking for compatibility, forget it. I asked years ago why there was no Mac version of Access and got the answer from the Mac Microsoft team that Access uses frameworks etc that are deeply embedded within the Windows OS and cannot easily be replicated outside of it, so there was no feasible version outside of Windows. There are Linux dB applications but don't expect to be able to open an Access dB with them.
@@egbront1506 thank you so much. In my workplace all stuff writen for Access and for that reasen I am using dual boot.
Post a video about your Linux computer setup and your development experience in Linux

Sorry Bud... I hate to say it...but the ONLY viable option if you want MS Office on Linux is WPS Office. If you want to create Presentations from scratch with smoother Transitions then ONLY Softmaker Office can do it. I use BOTH interchangeably.
App developed by russians in russian Nizhny Novgorod? Nope, thanks
It has an open-source licence. How can it be compromised?
