Rise and fall of a £4m drug empire: Helen Wood chats to Shaun Attwood & Peter Mahoney

- Shaun, originally from Widnes, was responsible for smuggling an estimated £4 million worth of drugs, including Ecstasy and ketamine, into Arizona in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Shaun was caught in 2002 and faced a 200-year jail sentence. He avoided it after a plea bargain, serving six years behind bars.
He documented the brutal conditions at the infamous Maricopa County jail in an anonymous blog, and would later become the author of a dozen books, looking at his own experiences and other true crime stories.
He is also the host of a True Crime podcast and his RUclips channel has over 300,000 subscribers.
On this week’s episode, Shaun is joined by his friend and former enforcer, Peter Mahoney, also known as Wildman. Fellow Englishman Peter served seven-and-a-half years in the Arizona prison.

It doesn't matter how many times I hear these stories Its still gripping and so interesting to listen to. Although I think that shaun and peter are great at interviewing together I would love to see wildman do an interview on his own! Keep up the good work guys.

Peter, I wish I had been YOUR TEACHER, particularly at what we call PRIMARY school, but before REAL ADOLESCENCE had begun in your MID-TEENS.
I took NO, NO, NO NONSENSE and I was 4"8. I had NO choice and was given ALL the trouble makers in the junior grades, PLUS I had these towering 13 year olds, sent to me, because they had really p***ed off THEIR teacher BIG TIME !!
Peter, I HATE bullies of ANY kind.
Remember that BEFORE the FIRST rush of FULL ON PUBERTY, there is PRE-PUBERTY and I would have identified you being a HIGH RISK case and getting you CHANNELLED into the kind of SPORT, where you just WANT TO DROP, because YOU are ABSOLUTELY FINISHED and SO TIRED, it's taking that child on HIS OWN, like would YOU please help me ......
Children are children and they OPEN UP, when they feel GENUINELY LOVED !! LOVE MAKES the world go round !!
Some mischief just needs a knowing look, but NO fuss made.
Other disruptive behaviour which is REALLY DISRUPTING the class from learning is EASY.
PETER, YOU know why I am saying this.
The CLASS and I need a time out and break from EACH OTHER.
So, it's NOT just Peter, even if he was being a real little sh*t !
Here in SA, we have good enough weather to send out a child to just outside the doorway.
In the UK, it can be a blocked off reading corner, which I also had.
The NO NONSENSE approach comes in, when I state that his work has to be caught up - HIS NEATEST and HIS BEST work, plus one other task and it HAS TO be done during HIS break/playing time.
When the FINAL/END of DAY BELL, I would always let the others out and then put the culprit on my lap for 3 to 5 minutes. I would ENCIRCLE them with my arms, and they would then give the child a kiss on the head and let them go.
99% of the time, they would run back in and give me a tight squeezy hug.
With the older ones up to age 13, I would read the teacher's note and ask my Grade ones whether they were EVER going to BEHAVE like this, and sent out the classroom.
Of course they said NO !! YOU can IMAGINE these little ones - they were PETRIFIED of being sent outside. Straight after that I would just take the TEEN outside and just tell them that his teacher was really hacked off and he just needed to get on with his work or if he got chucked out, before he could bring his work, I would make him put his head on his arms, and then just give him grade one work, which normally involves colouring in.
Some were done in crayon, coloured chalk, and others with magazine paper torn into half inch TINY bits of paper and glued down. This was the LAST activity, so they left with their fingers CRAMPED,
making it a PERFECT, BEAUTIFUL PIECE of ARTWORK. IF they did NOT finish, they would have to do it at home and bring it to me the next day. PLUS they had to FINISH their classwork at home or during a break.
I never asked what they did to hack off the teacher, as I REFUSED to be PIGGY in the MIDDLE.
Peter, YOU DID NOT START the FIGHTS,.
There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between being a bully and bullying others.
Another way to say it is that you attracted bullies on a subconscious level, which is VERY DIFFERENT to CONSCIOUSLY CHOOSING to BULLYING
and ENJOYING it.
YOU are AMAZIZZZNG and see YOURSELF that way.
ENJOY being MARRIED!
YOU DESERVE to be LOVVVVVED and then DESERVE EVEN MORE.
