I think the reason Mor'du was after Merida is that some part of him deep down still had some awareness that this wasn't him, that it was something he wanted to escape and he didn't know how... But Merida knew. Mor'du probably went after the witch alone and no one knew what happened, there was no one to help him break the spell and even after years some desperate party of him wanted to free myself from the spell. But he wasn't himself anymore, so his instinct as a bear was to attack Measure even if he didn't want to, He couldn't control it, as if the spell was forcing him to attack the only person who had the answers he wanted. In the end he got the relief he wanted and freed himself through death.
13:19 "If he was a wee bit closer, I could lob a caber at 'im, ken?" Tossing the caber is a game played at the Highland Games, a caber being a massive wooden log, as seen at 14:59. So he's saying that he could throw a caber at him, if he was just a little closer. "Ken?" is basically Scots for "Y'know?" 24:58 "Since yer sayin' it an' ah wisn't there t' see it maself, I'll gae ahead and take yer word fer it though." - Since you're saying it and I wasn't there to see it myself, I'll just take your word for it. 40:39 "It's jist nae fair makin us ficht for the hand o the quine that disnae want any bit o it. Ken?" - Quine = girl. It just isn't fair making us fight for the hand of a girl that doesn't want any part of it, y'know?

The argument between Merida and her mom is probably one of my favorite scenes in this film! The reason why is because the dialogue and the actors did such a good job that it felt like a real argument between a mom and daughter. When Merida said she’d rather die, you really feel the visceral anger she has toward her mom on this issue. And when the mom throws Merida’s bow in the fire and then tries to save it, you can feel how mortified her mother was at her own actions in that moment, recognizing that what she had done was too extreme and hurtful. The actors emotions in that scene were very believable and it’s for that reason I love this scene.
*But if you really look into it, the witch’s spell worked.* Not for the reason that the queen became a bear upon eating the cake, it is because she shifted her opinion on things, including Merida’s marriage. (which is what Merida wanted in the first place)
I love the movie but I think it would have been better if it had Merida learn something too because even at the end she doesn't really seem to learn anything and she gets what she wants. She is the future queen and she doesn't take any responsibility for anything. The marriage is not something anyone in her family wants, it's a necessity for the future of the kingdom and instead of taking responsibility and choosing a suitor, she ends up doing what she always wanted since the beginning which is push it off so she can ride her horse and do archery. I would love a sequel where she actually takes responsibility and marries one of the suitors. It would be nice to see a more wild princesses like Merida fall in love with one of them.
@paige8453 Sounds like you missed an important part. She did learn a lot of things, as is obvious in the speech she gives. That very much is her taking responsibility. She's fixing the whole mess by combining her (valid) convictions with what she learned, with some little help from her mum, which she can finally use because they both listen to each other and take both their duties as well as their personal wishes into consideration. That's why her mum is so proud of her in that moment. She never should've had to sacrifice her own happiness and be forced into a marriage, and as she rightly explains, a marriage that wasn't even necessary in the first place. The Clans are already close and have each other's back, the marriage thing was senseless tradition just for the sake of decorum. That is what the Queen finally understood, and why she made Merida say they're breaking that tradition. None of the kids wanted it, it was unnecessary, it just would've made them miserable for no reason. The right to self-determination is the whole point of that storyline, and that no one should have to sacrifice their happiness for "duty", especially not if it's pointless nonsense. And the fact that Merida doesn't want or need some prince by her side is one of the things about her that make her so awesome and different from other typical princess stories.
Your question about different bears: if it’s a black bear you might be able to intimidate it with loud noises and by making yourself look bigger, if it’s brown your probably dead but playing dead might work if they think your trying to take its territory, if it’s a polar bear say your prayers
The brown ones are not that evil, it seems, but it’s still better to look for cover or back away. There are a lot of them in Kamchatka; they even got into our tent. He scattered everything, climbed the mountain and left. But they even climb perfectly well. There the slope was 80 degrees, about 10 meters in height at least. The bear got up in a couple of seconds.

However, the will-o'-wisps of legend are not the friendly, helpful things that they are in this movie. They supposedly appear to be like a flickering lantern flame in the mists over a swamp, bog, or marsh. Of course, this is a legend from many years ago. They're an actual atmospheric phenomenon caused, in part, by the gases released by such bodies of stagnant water. Because they looked like a flickering lantern light or torch, people would follow them, especially if they were lost or confused while trying to get through a swamp or bog when it was dark. The people would then fall into the waters of the swamp and drown. The will-o'-wisps are also called ghost lights or jack-o-lanterns. Because people who tried to follow them usually died, you were never supposed to follow them anywhere.

The old Scottish legends say that the will o the wisp is either a mischievous fairies or a ghost that is trapped by their past deeds. They were said to lead travelers astray from the path as people that followed them would find themselves lost in bogs. Scientist say that they are "fox fire", or a naturally occurring light from escaping swamp gasses and that lost travelers would most likely have followed them thinking they were near civilization or at least another traveler. In many legends the wisp's are said to either be friendly and lead the courageous home, or not friendly and lead the cowardly or greedy to their doom. In the story of Brave, they seem to be more friendly, protecting the innocent. I do not know for sure but I believe that Mor dou turned into a wisp at his death because he had a lot to make up for, but he was grateful for finally being freed from his curse. At the time that Brave is set in, it was very common to betroth children as soon as they were born, in order to secure the borders of your kingdom, or to gain a neighboring kingdom as an ally. Those that waited to betroth their children often found themselves with a wealth of suitors and even battles over the marriages if the kingdom was wealthy or powerful enough. Brides were often kidnapped and they would hide out until they had gotten the girl pregnant, which turned into the tradition of the honeymoon. Girls were sometimes married as children, but most often as soon as they reached womanhood- for some that would be very young. Later on it became regular to ask the ruler for permission to marry, or for the ruler to arrange marriages, sometimes by proxy, between clans and landholders to better the kingdom. It was common for a young woman to be told she was married to a perfect stranger, and as soon as he arrived she would be expected to meekly pack her bags and leave with him, often never seeing her family again. Love was not in the equation, you married for protection, securing the borders, wealth, or power. Courtly love, flirtation alone, was expected and some couples actually found love in their marriages, but it was not the regular. Keep in mind, divorce was not the usual either, the only exception if one of the married couple was impotent or unable to have children. Women were expected to bear " an heir and a spare" because infant mortality was so common, and girls were married off young, because the life expectancy was so short, you were old by the time you reached 30, if you were lucky enough to live that long.
I get not liking movie scores but I gotta say - when you are working on something that requires a lot of focus, there's few things better than a playlist of movie scores!! Not a lot of lyrics, good atmospheric feeling, it helps you get in the zone like nothing else. I love this movie so much. This and Inside Out are definitely my favorite Pixar movies. They just feel deeper and more narratively coherent for some reason - though maybe I'm just not a fan of Pixar romances XD
Black bears are the smallest of the three and the least likely to attack humans. Grizzly bears (aka brown bears) are much more aggressive but usually only attack to defend their territory or cubs. Polar bears are the largest and the most aggressive. Polar bear attacks are also more likely to be fatal. Living in the far north where food is scarce means they're almost always hungry, so unlike black bears and grizzly bears, polar bears often eat their victims.

Reactions with bears is as optional as it is with wild canines they share that balance between being honored and others sadly treating them with disrespect when they're actually the innocent one getting blamed. Plus that they both have their places where they're the leader in tribal work too. If you're like the bear you're sure what'll likely be good for others but especially the ones you love, if you're like the wolf on the positive side you're loyal enough to to support and protect others bravely with careful evaluation skills related to the consequences in the idea of true prudence.

About the bears, the black bear you need to yell and hit at if it charges you. Do not play dead cause it will try to eat you as black bears do scavenge other predators kills and chase them off. The Grizzly is if I'm not wrong a fair bit bigger than the black bear and you might think that's a bad thing, but since it has much fewer natural competitors it will not see you as food and leave you alone if you play dead.

@@DonTownsend There's a reason in Denmark, Alaska, and Greenland government agencies often insist on sidearms being in 10mm auto. Bears. If you're not familiar with firearms, for a semi-automatic, the FBI abandoned it because too many agents that struggled with the recoil.

Women were expected to bear " an heir and a spare" because infant mortality was so common, and girls were married off young, because the life expectancy was so short, you were old by the time you reached 30, if you were lucky enough to live that long.
ik im late to the party, but I am so glad I found this reaction of yours. you're one of my favorite reactors lol
the language the blond son is speaking that you can't understand is Doric! there's videos on here translating it
the saying for bears is “if it’s black fight back, if it’s brown lay down” but the most dangerous and ferocious bear over all is the polar bear.
I'm a mess for any mother/daughter movies since I lost my mom. This is definitely one of my favorites. Just to have one more hug from my mom...😪
Bro NEEDS to watch “meet the robinsons”🫸🫷
polar bears are the biggest and most ferocious out of all bears.
About bears: "If it's black, fight back. If it's brown, lay down. If it's white, goodnight."

Bro loves the Scottish accent so much 💀
Reactions with bears is as optional as it is with wild canines they share that balance between being honored and others sadly treating them with disrespect when they're actually the innocent one getting blamed.
16:41 yes it is completely allowed since the law states that the first born of each of the clans can participate, Not stating that the participants had to be of the opposite sex. Her kingdom is part of the clans and she is the eldest. She didn't break any rules, She found a loophole in the law.
the big bad bear that turned into a "wisp" or a ghost when he died was allso a human that was turned into a bear but didnt get saved in time unlike her mother
Grizzly and polar bears are the most dangerous, but Eurasian brown bears and American black bears have also been known to attack humans. Some species depredate livestock on occasion, and some bears, such as Asiatic and American black bears, may destroy fruit or other crops, especially corn.
a lot of my friends think im weird but that accent is attractive to me
‘Me me gusta’ means ‘I I like’ LMAOO but close enough

the witch is voiced by te actress who played molly weasley & there is a theory that she the witch was Boo from Monster's INC & the pixar theory is based on her journey through time searching for Sully (who she called Kitty)

Grizzly and polar bears are the most dangerous, but Eurasian brown bears and American black bears have also been known to attack humans. Some species depredate livestock on occasion, and some bears, such as Asiatic and American black bears, may destroy fruit or other crops, especially corn. Kodiak bear is bigger than the Grizzly bear but also have been said to be super aggressive but also extremely territorial.
i think the wisp is the king and he was helping them since that bear guy over through his thrown and rowned his perfect kingdom
4:28 one of my favorite Disney songs
13:34 to 14:16 Kinda like my family reunion years ago.
14:28 My grandma stopping the fight.
Polarbears are the most dangerous, blackbears you have to make yourself big and stand your ground and with grizzlies play dead. an icebear is gonna murk you either way
Should watch How to Train your Dragon!!!
Hey Don, you should really react to the Rambo movies as well. It's an awesome series played and written by the talentfull Sylvester Stallone. I must say though, it is a bit of a brutal series, but also a must watch
you're so based for this comment right here
brown bears are usually more dangress then black ones but the most feared bear is most likely the polar bear but there is another one but theres like- non of them
I enjoy watching your reactions. You should check out Brother Bear if you never seen it. There another movie I think you would realy enjoy called Mr. Right is a action comedy .You should check out the Lego Movies also i think you would enjoy them also.
Fun fact: at 13:07 the accent he speaks in is a real accent. Don't remember where tha accent is based but its a real one
Edit: to answer your question avout the most dangerous bear is polar bear
Edit: that specific dialect at 13:07 is called doric
Im living for your reactions ❤❤❤ and a dismey one at that😍😭😍😭😍😭😍
About the bears, the black bear you need to yell and hit at if it charges you.
And then of course if its a Polar Bear: you might as well off yourself. Because if it sees you; your dead.
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl I can echo that, when they got to close during their seasons of wandering to find a mate, Greenland always needs to find them before they get to cities and tranquilize them to fly them waaaaaay out where they used to be. It's the reason to use sledges and dogs cause the dogs know that what ever you are instructing.. They will not run into a Polar bear they will stay very much away from them and you trust their instinct to do so.
Mom felt bad after that like, that's what you get, guilt.
“I’ll give it a 4 1/2 because it’s pretty good”
when it comes to bears the saying goes "if its brown lay down if its black fight back if its white say goodnight"
How to train your dragon next!!
brown bear
The only species of bear that is native to the UK is the brown bear, but they have been extinct in the UK since the early Middle Ages. There have been some reports of black bears being seen in the UK, but these are usually escaped captive animals or hoaxes.
31:21 It’s official: Elinor won’t last a day when it comes to camping.
i always got scared of that bear when i was a kid lol
32:25 polar bears, they're the biggest, most aggresse and ferocious bears on the planet, the rest are survivable but not the polar bear
You really need to watch Loki season 2, it’s so good
This movie is so damn good😂❤
Why do u have a laughing emoji when u said that
React to How to Train your Dragon or the Godzilla Monsterverse movies next!
I’ve never heard a person say AYO as many times in an hour
Love this ❤
"One swipe at the dogs and they would have been done out" You do realize you're suggesting she should have killed her pets? XD
Like I get that it seems like the obvious solution, but she doesn't want to hurt anyone and killing a family dog wouldn't exactly be an easy decision to make.
Mulan. I'd love to see you react to Mulan
If you wanna do a Disney story you should watch the original "Beauty and the Beast" (its my favorite)
And non Disney animated movie would be "Anastasia "
If you want more recent you can try "Frozen" " Frozen 2" and "Tangled". Also "Elementals" those would be good.
you'd loveee how to train your dragon
Add Narnia to the list!
Damn dawg I miss this movie
You should watch the Trueman show
Disney The Love Bug 1969 please
I think you should watch the Baywatch movie I feel you'd die watching that and your reaction would be too funny😂
I know I'm late to the party. And people can correct me if I'm wrong. But from my understanding it was never about the tapestry. Them sewing up the tapestry would have never done anything for the mother. It was about their apologies and them overcoming their pride to each other the mother had already done her part when she told the daughter to break tradition. It wasn't until Merida also apologized for her part in being prideful that actually broke the spell on the mother. The tapestry was just a plot device so kids could understand it.
If u don't know the gibberish the big fella was speaking is doric I'm pretty sure
U should definitely watch the cars trilogy it is so lit!!
grizzly bears are the most aggressive and you never want to run from any bear, they are predators and will hunt prey, so if you run you will look like prey, always try and make urself look bigger.
Technically, it's Polar Bears, but of the bears he mentioned, Grizzly (North American Brown Bears) and brown bears are the aggressive ones.
@@Omgbbqhaxlolol that’s what i mean, unless u live in alaska or some place like that you won’t ever see a polar bear rly.
u should watch soul, it’s really good
Rush hour next please ❤❤
Grizzly bear is another word for brown bears. Black bears are the ones that can be bluffed.
It wasn't ruelbraking what merida did Makedonien, cos
her mom just said "the oldest born of every family" ,she never said that it a male. And Merida is the oldest born of her family , so it was ok !!!! 😉
"That's what they used to do back in the day...Hunting dogs" I- What do you think people use in hunting now days? I can tell you it ain't gps XDDD
