and the fact that he idolized david wright as a kid and now he plays his position is wild. really hope he can be the new franchise third baseman

I love having him start as an everyday 3rd baseman. He's gonna have 30-40 homers next season, and he's working on his defense with David Wright, which has made him pretty solid

Ive been divorced from the Mets since maybe 2016, give or take. Been a die hard fan since 1969 and a season ticket holder from 83 to 89. I got to see the 86 post season games at home. In a way, the 86 team of the early to mid 80s were a blessing and a curse. The Mets team from 83-86 had some unique and amazing relationship with the fans. Shea Stadium was electric, even for regular games during the season. Somewhere along the line, that relationship died until finally, it felt like nothing was left. They had some good teams and star power, but that chemistry between the team and fans was missing something, and one disappointment after another was too much to handle. I stopped watching and following altogether. I couldn’t identify with any Met team since 86, but let me tell you, the 2024 Mets have something special going on. This is a likable team, without any bonafide Superstars sans Lindor, but they play hard and smart. I only just started paying attention at the last game of the season, the double header against the Braves. The first game was fantastic. The Brewers were next, then Philadelphia. I won’t watch them live, partly because I feel like I jinx them, and don’t deserve to. Also, I’m not going to change what I’m doing now, there seems to be wins in my system. Im here because I’m trying to learn about the players, I only knew of Alonso and Lindor, nobody else. I’m here too because this young lad is impressive, I like him at 3rd and his approach at the plate. I also like Alvarez and happy to know both are very young and have a bright future ahead of them. Good luck Mets and met fans. Winning it all in 24 will be amazing. To get to the NLCS is amazing. They deserve to play in the NLCS.
