What do you know about economy? So you don't know that the subsidy being paid was coming from borrowing. In 2023 Federal govt budget was N21.8trn and out of that N11trn was to come from borrowing. And that was bcos buhari budgeted subsidy only till March. If they had budgeted subsidy for the whole year, the borrowing may have gone up to as much as N15trn to N20trn. Where are you going to see money to continue to borrow to pay subsidy? The country is so much in debt already. Are you not going to pay those debts? Do you know what it means for a country not to be able to service your debts? You would be declared bankrupt. Nobody would be ready to lend you money and your foreign reserves would be frozen. Industries would not be able to import machines, spare parts etc. Buhari knew it was necessary to remove subsidy and didn't make provision beyond March of 2023. Atiku campaigned he would withdraw subsidy. Obi said he would withdraw subsidy on his first day in office. Do you think buhari, Atiku, Obi and Tinubu are all daft to agree on subsidy removal? Since all these hardship, have you ever heard Obi and Atiku condemning Tinubu for removing subsidy? Have you ever heard them asking tinubu to restore subsidy? Bcos they know they too campaigned to do the same and they knew there is no other way around it. But they would be using the hardship of the removal to play politics. All of us including me are feeling the hardship, but the subsidy removal is unavoidable. Have you heard of any suggestions from Atiku and Obi on another alternative way to handle the economic situation? They only criticise, let them suggest the better way to handle it if they know.
