Shinedown's Brent Smith Dissects New Album "Planet Zero" With Matt Pinfield On New & Approved

Shinedown's new record "Planet Zero" has been a massive success reaching #1 on six different charts. Lead vocalist Brent Smith joined Matt Pinfield to talk about the new record for this episode of New & Approved.
"Planet Zero" was written during the pandemic while everyone on the planet was going through the same difficulties. Smith explains how the album examines how we can all move forward together. He also discusses a few of the album's singles including the title track, "Symptom of Being Human," and "Daylight" in great detail.
We also get to hear about Smith's history as Matt asks the singer about how he developed his love for music. According to Smith, he felt destined at birth to perform and began taking music seriously around ten-years-old. He also reveals some of his greatest influences including early punk, Motown music, and the famous Seattle grunge bands. He currently possesses a "vast palate" of music and is frequently listening to grunge, singer/songwriters, and even early '90s rap.

I just wanna say to Shinedown, I’ve never gone to a show thinking, I hope the have lasers, fire, cool props, fancy outfits. I go to see you, see you into your songs , expanded guitar solos not extended endings.
All that unnecessary stuff just costs you money, same goes for videos, all people want is a band performance video, I wanna see who’s doing the songs. If you want people to get the meaning of the songs, tell them.
The ride doesn’t last forever, save for your old age. Put that money to work so you can always continue even when your popularity comes down. Love your songs, thanks for all the happiness you guys bring to the world 🌎
