12V car alternator voltage regulator testing

  • The light bulb is connected to the brush contacts and indicates when the alternator is charging. Light should go out when "charging voltage" exceeds 14V, but it doesn't.
    This regulator is faulty. It charges too much. (~17V)

    Could a bad voltage regulator cause temp/gas gauge to malfunction I.e. stay stuck on high or low temp or full/empty tank. Or cause the dash gauge icons to come on and off???

      yes I have the same issue as once they go faulty. the only energy was is left is in the battery. I have the same issue everything on the dashboard started going do lally
