Super informative, I tend (still) forget about the paper wetness & paint consistencies even though I know it. Moist, moist, moist. LOL You never fail to crack me up!
Wonderful explanation of vitally important techniques. seeing the theory "in action" was really helpful. When I saw the "watercolor clock" video, I thought it was going to be the late Terry Madden's (PBS watercolor artist) color clock. He refers to the color wheel aw a "color clock". To avoid muddy colors, one should only mix colors withing so many "hours' of the primary mixer. Sorry this is a bit off topic. Thanks again for your great content.
Ohh wow I’m going to have to get this book! I have really enjoyed learning about this way of painting levels for the brush & paint ratio for marks, techniques, textures, & effects. Your earlier videos about the consistency of paint was my favorite video & the biggest help for my painting success! Thanks for sharing this wonderful information with us! ❤😊
If you google "mastering atmosphere and mood in watercolor pdf" the first link (for me, anyway) should take you to Internet Archive. You can page through the book and read it. I took screen shots of the pages I wanted. HTH!
Rachel I’m an oil painter learning watercolor. I really appreciate your beefy, data rich art tips many of them apply to all painting media. Question ; do you have the link to Joseph Zbukvic’s online out of print book? Thanks❤️
I'm so sorry I missed this comment. I've had my book for years and now they are VERY expensive. They can be found on Amazon and eBay. The whole book is also available in a link I posted in comments above.

That brought back so many good memories! RIP TM ❤
Oh that's interesting!!
For those of us that work with non-watercolor paper, this is helpful for visualizing paper limits too.
That makes sense!
I wish I knew this 6 yrs ago. Thankyou ❤
Yes, I teach it in every tutorial, but this clock makes all that information come together as a cohesive whole!
Great. I needed a live example for this clock. Maybe I'll paint again.
Greetings from Bolivia.
I do hope you will get those brushes wet!!

I immediately looked up this book. Available on Amazon for $253.
Addendum (as I could not edit comment) - Copies on eBay for $300, one bid for $200 in a current auction.

@@suel4269 It's been out of print for quite some time. You'd think they'd do a re-print, as popular as this book is!

This is so helpful! Thank you for sharing this information. I’m self taught and I’m going to make note of these variations.

Do you talk about the watercolor clock on your patreon? Is there a video there that has this process put into practice?
I've used this approach to painting for years and years. It's just that the watercolor clock is a great way to illustrate it.
Hi Rachel, where did you get your book from or where it can be purchased from?
