This is what I do for the U.S. Coast Guard, and spent 20 of my 43 years in the U.S. Navy. I currently work on the HC-144 Sea Sentry in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. I do structures, both metal and composites, and good deal of fabrication, installation, repairs & alterations.

This is a very interesting video, I am a retired Refinisher Tech MOC 563, back when there were three Workshops Trades, I also am a former instructor at CFSAOE, CFB Borden, and taught TL3, TL5 and related courses to various other agencies including RCMP and the first Material Tech courses in 13 Hanger, which doesn't exist anymore. I was also the Standards Evaluator later on in my career and finished at the Senior Trade Advisor and Trade Advancement Coordinator (TACO) in Cold Lake. So it is with great interest I viewed this video. A lot has changed but some things have remained the same.
Thanks for sharing the Video with the world, it is great to see where the three trades have gone and what they have accomplished. Bravo Zulu

Hi, first off thank you for your service! I would like to become a structures tech. I live in Toronto, would I be stationed in Trentor or Bordon after school?

here's an oddball question ... how much titanium work is repaired ... and on avg what thickness ... as a side question any good boks or resource to find all one needs to learn about load stresses and there ranges for military and civilian differences
    .
I am working on a full scale model of an old jet and want to modernize it yet I keep comming across the various needs for weight and heat at high mach and altitudes and want to be able to model these virtually before a piece of metal is bent or cut ...
    .
Pro Patria lads ... keep them in fighting trim

Is the pay and benefits good? I am an aircraft mechanic in civil aviation, do you travel a lot or have a base where you mostly work? And if you travel a lot how long do your trips normally last ?

      ofcos it iis the military.

pay avg ... benefits ... hazard pay in active war zones ... travel ... deployment is 6 month on 6 months off .. thats active combat zone ... full medical and dental provided by the military WHILE in service .. generally moderate pay for 16 hour or more long days 7 days a week ...
      .
it's the military not civilian life ... here you do the job you qualified for and do it when they tell you where they tell you for as long as they tell you ... your proficiency sets your pay ... the new guy is paid less while the old guy with certifications longer than he is tall gets paid pretty good ... just like in civilian life
