yours are the only watercolor videos where i actually *slow down* the playback speed so i can watch what you're doing more closely. you achieve an amazing balance between flow-y looseness and informative detail. a pleasure to see... and be inspired by!
I discovered your channel late in the evening. It's now 3:40am and I can't stop binge-watching your videos. I use a more subdued-earthy-tones palette, staying shy of anything too flashy or bright, but your artwork is such an incredible firework of colors that it makes me want to try and explore new colorful horizons ! Thanks a lot for the inspiration.
That's so great! Thank you so much, and thank you for letting me know! I'm so glad you like the videos, and that I've been able to offer some inspiration. For the longest time when I was just getting started, I kept trying to cut out colour because that's what I thought I should do, but I realized I was happier when I got to use my colours! Let me know how it goes! :)
There's a few factors I think help. I wet the watercolors a few seconds before I use them, I use more paint than water after the first wash. I feel like paper can play a factor. I've noticed with past work I used to use a Moleskine, and I feel the paint didn't look as vibrant (but that is just a personal observation, i know a lot of people that love moleskine). I've found strathmore sketchbook paper to better suit my way of painting ie lots of water and paint. I also really love the M Graham brand of watercolors. I started using them years ago, and I love how rich and juicy they look and they're lovely to work with. At the time being, the majority of my colours are holbein, and M Graham. Don't be afraid of using lots of paint and water in your sketchbook, and just have fun with it! (Something I'm constantly trying to remind myself!)
@@stefaniac2095 You're very welcome. Let me know how it goes. Try different styles, and the one you have the most fun with is usually the one to go with, even if you don't like the initial results. Because that way even the road to improvement will be fulfilling and less frustrating 🙂

Love your sketches. 💕
Wonderful! I would have been scared to death to take on that octopus! But you sailed right through it!
Thank you! I was really nervous to start on that octopus, but it ended up being the easiest bit of the whole thing. It surprised me!

Happy to have found you. New sub, #520 🙂
Nice! Thank you so much, and welcome 😊
How do yo get such large splotches in your work? I love them
Lots of water and paint mix and hold the brush up higher!
how are your colors so rich? I am so frustrated with watercolors. Do you just mix with less water or do you use paint out of a tube?

@@KateBauerArt thanks for the tips. Trying as we speak. I agree with what you said about moleskine.
