I absolutely agree. The music is way too loud and I couldn't pick up a lot of what the women were saying. Why is music played at all? Most of it is crap anyway.
one day I went to the grocery store a few years ago and there was a guy outside the back of his van loading it with a broken arm and asked me for help I said no sorry man Ted Bundy ruined that one for you !
Since the DNA technology and security cameras becoming widely used it's become much much harder to pull of something as horrific as what Bundy did. But sure, there are unfortunately definitely killers living among us.
It scares me that any one of us could snap one day and become a serial killer, it could be me or you or any one of us (this doesn't mean anything dont take it too seriously) but just the thought makes me shiver
The adubctor of Junko Furtaro, a very sick case even Ted would draw the line at, is still free. He acts crazy around his neighbors/stomps on the cieling and they don't know who he is. They knock on his door to tell him to stop bt he doesn't answer. He runs to slam doors on them while they're leaning in their car. He also slashed a passenger in the car of a guy he ran to yell at after the passenger defended the guy. He went to court then acted crazy there
Everyone says he looks ugly but you have to remember a few things -In the 70s, style was different. -TV resolution and print were not as crisp as it is now. Set this vid to 144p and picture it being on an old TV. -He had a car and dressed well, was articulate, and stayed around younger impressionable women. This gave the impression that he was an achiever and successful. -He had charisma, like a how a good salesman can sell you junk. It's not about what's being sold, it's about who's selling it. -It took years for the truth to come out so he didn’t seem heinous. -He seemed to have a heart, more than most serial killers who were numb to their emotions.
I've lived in Tallahassee since 1970. At the time that the murders occurred here, I lived in a duplex around the corner from the sorority house. Our back yards were adjacent to one another. The duplex where Ms. Thomas was attacked was just a few blocks away. I was and am a big fan of the FSU dance program and was heartbroken that Ms. Thomas's injuries permanently ended her dance career. I'm so impressed that she has the courage to speak about what happened. May she continue to be strong. ❤️💛
why you all saying “oh my god wHAT HE IS NOT HANDSOME” man. it was 40 years ago. the view of women on men changed drastically since then. also they don’t refer only to looks when they say “handsome”. they refer to all the characteristics that attracted women. get over it. he’s dead now.
”Get over it. He’s dead now.” Tell that to his surviving victims and the family members of those who did not survive. He may be dead but there's no getting over it. Don’t be so ignorant.
Rodeo i am sorry if that sounded ignorant. i was trying to reffer only to the people that always have something to say about the fact that he’s described as “handsome”. disrespecting the families of the victims and the survivors was not my intention
@ Maria David, I agree. It was a different time. Rugged looks, and a "Man's man" were considered attractive. Today, the "men" that are mostly considered attractive are over dramatic baby-faced, tattooed, bird caged chested, femininely dressed with a ghetto twist of style. The Jersey Shore, Justin Beiber esque men are really something that appeals to the girls of today, you can have them! I'll take yesterdays classy men like Clint Eastwood, or a Michael Landon anyday of the week! Coming from a younger woman!
dnk127 exactly! i am a teenage girl but i still cant understand what my friends see in Justin Bieber or anyone similar to him! no judgement tho, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. im more into masculine looks as well.
Agreed! Maybe I was a little too harsh back there, lol. Mostly, my biggest issue with them is their spoiled, rude attitudes today. I'm not in my teens. You seem like a level-headed girl though. I'm not impressed by a lot of celebrities, but I do think Scott Eastwood looks just like his father Clint, and seems like a down to earth guy.
wait... florida authorities literally asked one of ted bundy's victims what she did to "deserve" almost being murdered by a serial killer? i'm genuinely curious as to what they expected her to say.
They ask victims of batterings and shootings for potential motives for the crimes. It's like if my step-uncle got shot or something he should tell the authorities he owes people millions of dollars. It seems like a terribly targeting question but can be really useful in weeding out suspects.
No they did not he asked if she knows of anyone who would want to do this to her . Like if you’ve got an enemy maybe a girl at school you don’t like or have fought with or a guy that won’t leave you alone . It was the 70s technology wasn’t advanced they were tryna get to the bottom of things .
The music should be in the background - NOT in the foreground. That's why it's called background music. It's a shame it's difficult to hear the testimonies.
@@diana-rq2vr Yes,there was a satire piece published urging people to save the electricity to fry Bundy. Many people thought it was real. Author Ann Rule mentions it in her book.
My grandma told me that she was on an airplane and kept making eye contact with this one guy. She got off the airplane and he offered her a ride. Luckily she said that her family was coming so she didn't need one, yet he still insisted. She kept on saying no, and then he eventually left her alone. Later, she was watching the news and realized that the man was Ted Bundy.
@@diana-rq2vr Lol I'm not sure he took his buggy everywhere but the nagain he probably never went without it because his murder weapons were always in there. He probably didn't use fake casts and ask people to help him on an airplane itself
A lot of people describe him to be handsome, charming, charismatic. I can see the madness in his eyes. The madness that humans don't and wouldn't have. Incarnation of pure evil.
Ted was not really that smart. His law grades were atrocious and he flunked out. His defense of himself by being his own lawyer was so bad, he was sent to the electric chair. Judge Cowart was just making a statement. He knew what he was.
My dad actually met Bundy face-to-face and was told where he was staying at, as well as being in the trial. He's mentioned in the book "The Only Living Witness"
I was at Ft. Lewis, Wa. when Bundy was murdering women up there, his MO was asking women for help because he had a fake broken arm. I moved to Denver in 1975 and there was a story on the news about women is Salt Lake City and the MO was the same. In front of 4 people I called the SLC Police Department and said "There was a guy in Seattle doing the exact same thing, same MO exactly." The cop on the phone said "Yeah, I'm sure he commutes" and hung up. Believe me or not, I could care less, that's exactly what happened.
How he also managed to get married and had a baby during his court days are mind boggling! It seems he intentionally breed before he got electrocuted, he wanted to make sure he has offsprings in this world, he’s so selfish he was in prison but had a baby, he def wanted offsprings for his own purpose.
That's exactly what I felt when he manipulated Carol to leave him. Disturbingly I think he sensed he inherited psychopathy traits from his grandpa and he sensed his mirror image daughter did, or felt any child of his would. He def married Carol for a baby then let her leave him so the child was raised freely to maybe carry on his work. Or decided to have a child while he was on trial, and find a mother he could get to raise the child in secrecy after having her leave him. Everyhting with Carol seems planned out
@@zeekyeoz4988 I remember reading a snippet where a former friend of bundy said that his daughter turned out to b "a gem of a human being, educated, beautiful"!
What terrifies me the most is that a lot of women knew what he was and all his crimes and still called themselves fans and wrote 200 of love letters to him while he was in prison.
@@diana-rq2vr Absolutely right. Killers get heaps of fan mail and proposals of marriage from stupid, confused women wanting their 15 minutes of fame. It comes with the territory.
I was always adamantly against the death penalty under _any_ circumstances, until I learned about Ted Bundy and how he managed to escape _twice!_ He was never going to stop killing. He was always going to find some way to end another person’s life.
I guarantee you wouldn't be against the death penalty if one of your family was murdered. Do some research. The death penalty is GOD'S LAW. Who are you to challenge God's Law. GOD IS NOT MOCKED!
To see Cheryl Thomas is amazing! I have thought such nice thoughts to her since 1985 when I learned that she was a ballet dancer whose career was ruined by Bundy. That broke my heart as well as all all the other lovely young ladies hurt by him! Their goodness prevails over his evil!
It still took years after the lake sammamish murders for them to put two and two together and come up with Bundy. Law enforcement had his name, car, and physical description, but he slipped through their fingers and moved on to utah. Cops didn't catch Bundy, bundy caught himself through his erratic driving. I'm no Bundy fan, but let's be honest, he got away with his crimes for years, while cops bumbled around trying to figure things out. Years later they take credit for 'catching' him, when truth be told, he just fell into their laps, the cops had NO clue. His then long time girlfriend even phoned the cops, and handed him to them on a silver platter, and still it was years before they caught up with him. The cops were totally inept, now to hear them tell it, they caught him, laughable.
It’s amazing how some serial killers slip up after getting away with so much, Ted introducing himself as Ted , BTK asking the cops can a disc be traced, they must get so confident and relaxed in what they’re doing that they feel invincible
I think introducing himself as Ted was intentional. If he had been caught but hadn't yet managed to kidnap his victim,he could have claimed he was just flirting and she was overreacting. In that scenario he would seem more innocent then if he had given a fake name. Also he lived locally and the park was very crowded. If someone that knew him overheard him giving a fake name it would have stuck out in their memory.
Anyone else studied this man for more then 24 hours and have to deal with your family calling you luney for studying ted bundy to be honest studying him is incredibly fascinating idk why I fantasies going back to the 70s and catching ted in the act of his first murder and then becoming a hero and saving all those future lives and going down in the history books
Ted Bundy's first victim was a little girl in Tacoma Washington that he never officially admitted to her name but he described murdering a lil girl in tacoma around that time in detail n how she was taken from her home thru the window n shit. So he admitted it just left out her name. I'm from & still live in Washington super close only a mile or so from the main road Pacific Highway where the serial killer The Green River Killer Gary Ridgway picked up all his victims. I'm obsessed with serial killers too idk why...Ijust wanna know how their minds work for some reason.
@@mckster56 His first that little girl was 4 too. He was probably just very violent like his grandpa, & very violent people can be pedophiles. I think his grandpa was one too & also his dad. He probably sensed he inherited psychoptic traists from his grandpa bc his grandpa's severe anger was craziness. And he sensed his daughter or offspring could too. That's why he met very loyal Carol, had a kid with her, then she suddenly left him in the end. It was all Ted's plan.
Soooo incredible this lady managed to survive jumping into a freezing mountain stream/river (at night, as far as I'm aware) without suffering any hypothermia! Incredible, not only does she not succumb to hypothermia while in the frigid waters...she also managed to get out, & made a huge trek on foot wearing those soaking wet clothes. She must be a super special "laws of nature dont apply to me, evah!" specimen. A true "miracle" !
The thing is, the number of his murders and crimes is unknown. So when anyone starts talking about how their relative could be a victim of his, it’s most likely can be true. It’s actually scary. You just don’t how many innocent people were killed by this sick man, or even the people he tried to murder.
I met Ted Bundy in the death row visiting area at the Florida prison where he was executed. I met Ted in 1981. I am a 56 year old lady and I remember that Ted would always stare at me. I remember seeing Ted's wife carole visiting with him.
The incompetency on the part of the police investigation that they waited for Ted to kill someone to be sure it's him. They should have just called him in and question him based on suspicion. They let him on the lose again and again and he killed many women including that 14 year old girl. That really breaks my heart.
Kimberly Leach was only 12. She was his youngest confirmed victim, but many people suspect teenage Ted had killed his 8 year old neighbor, whose body was never found.
His charisma was insane, and so was he. People still think he’s handsome and attractive despite the horrible things he did. He was an attractive man, I kinda hate to admit it lol. Even my auntie said he was fine. Smh...
People think he was dumb for representing himself, but he escaped once from a library by doing it, so he was probably doing it knowing he was substandard but not caring in case he could escape again by the extra freedom. And it was a power jolly.
Yes, I think he enjoyed it. Everything in the court was more about Ted then his victims that way. His proposal during Kimberly Leach's trail especially.
And took his girlfriend out to dinner afterwards. But he also took the ski rack he had used off his car and put it back on hers. She felt sorry for him because he had a cold and seemed so tired.
@tigertbalm I was young back then. I was also in LA during the Hillside Stranglers. When I was reading 'The Deliberate Stranger' I woke up screaming. I was the type they wanted. Scary times.
After watching the movie and watching the documentary, his face was flashing into my eyes and I was very scared at night. I couldn’t sleep well and had nightmares. This guy is dead but it is haunting me 😭😰 for two days.
It's so tragic to see a life like Ted's. He could have done good things with his life. He was probably a great phone counselor. Maybe if he had received early therapy after being with his violent grandfather, like play therapy, he wouldn't have turned into a violent person. We need to intervene early when a child lives with violence or shows danger signs like assaulting younger siblings or torturing animals and severe social awkwardness. It's sad that the Ted Bundy case didn't result in a national movement to help troubled children and for families with a troubled child to get quality treatment, including neurofeedback.
@@esthergift8373 the point is to learn how to recognize these people in childhood and try to reprogram their brains, train their parents to be viligent so they know where he is and what he is doing and remove the child from the home if the parents are criminals or don't watch him or have no authority. If the child persists in cruelty to animals and people, then he needs to be in an institution with school and work with others like him. The worst thing you can do is put him in prison or juvenile hall with inmates he can manipulate, torment or corrupt. If we don't take action when animal cruelty (which is a crime) starts and keep with mental health follow up and home visits, he will be a school shooter, thief, murderer, or at best, one who torments his family, but not outsiders. Usually serial killers have to kill at least 2 or 3 victims before the police make an arrest. Wouldn't it be better to stop him before the first rape or murder?
Yes. His eyes are shut down--full focus on his own inward vision. I rarely say this, but I will here. He was possessed by evil. He gave himself over to it.
I watched his documentary, people around him when he was a kid sharing about him,i feel sorry for the way he grow up ,at the same time I feel sorry for the girls who got murder cruelly. As a kid,we have no choice how he grow up,the way we live as a child effect everything when we become an adult
What gets me is that law enforcement sit there and talk about how he was not intelligent (He made mistakes by far showing that he was not a genius) but it just shows that a lot of the investigations were sloppy. Bundy and Ridgeway were the reason why these massive task forces were started. Agencies failed to cooperate not wanting to share information and communication which hindered catching these guys. I'm not saying that everyone did not do their jobs but it always comes down to communication with humility.

ted LOVED talking about himself. all the interviews, questions he was asked, he never ever answered bitterly. it fooled people into thinking he had a good, kinder side, but in reality he was just happy the conversation was about him.
The sound mixing isn't great on this. The ambient background music is way too loud, making it really difficult to hear what the women are saying.

What scares me about this is that there’s Ted Bundy’s everywhere. A lot of them are still living amongst society and no one knows who they are.

Everyone says he looks ugly but you have to remember a few things
-In the 70s, style was different.
A good way to judge how he looks is look at his 40 y/o daughter now. And mirror image grandson

Audrey White Huh? He lied all the time.
why you all saying “oh my god wHAT HE IS NOT HANDSOME” man. it was 40 years ago. the view of women on men changed drastically since then. also they don’t refer only to looks when they say “handsome”. they refer to all the characteristics that attracted women. get over it. he’s dead now.
Typical of the time: “ women asked for it”.
No they did not he asked if she knows of anyone who would want to do this to her . Like if you’ve got an enemy maybe a girl at school you don’t like or have fought with or a guy that won’t leave you alone . It was the 70s technology wasn’t advanced they were tryna get to the bottom of things .

Even the Judge who sentenced him said he was extremely smart and would have made a great lawyer.
Ted was not really that smart. His law grades were atrocious and he flunked out. His defense of himself by being his own lawyer was so bad, he was sent to the electric chair. Judge Cowart was just making a statement. He knew what he was.
He wasn't defending himself in court he was reliving his kills

@Maggie B imagine being so unable to handle rejection that it makes you kill 30+ similar looking women
Some of his victims were blonde.

Yeah the cops definitely suck. Even with John wayne gacy like wtf the police gave the boy back to him
I agree, but to be fair, they didn't know if the killer had given his real name. In the beginning they didn't have much cause to suspect him.
It’s amazing how some serial killers slip up after getting away with so much, Ted introducing himself as Ted , BTK asking the cops can a disc be traced, they must get so confident and relaxed in what they’re doing that they feel invincible
Many serial killers want to be caught. They just love all the attention they get
Psychologists say it is a game for them and they love the publicity. When it wanes, they stir things up again.
BTK owned the Keystone Kops for 31 years BTK won.
@@diana-rq2vr Ted's cousin knew he was guilty when he was first out on bail. He was recognized and was reveling in the attention.

His last was just 12...

Such a shame. They were beautiful young women. He ruined so many lives.
Fun fact demons are handsome so they can bring people in "dark"
All of his victims were beautiful. That was what they had in common.
The one with the pigtails is gorgeous I can’t deny this. No one wants an ugly catch anyways. They had dark hair and parts down the middle.
The incompetency on the part of the police investigation that they waited for Ted to kill someone to be sure it's him. They should have just called him in and question him based on suspicion. They let him on the lose again and again and he killed many women including that 14 year old girl. That really breaks my heart.
He never killed a 14 years-old he killed a two 2 yearsold
They never did that. If they hadn't the evidence to hold him,, they couldn't have done so.
Smh...
I only wish that this documentary were longer. To hear more from the survivors, etc.
That monster was indeed a scary individual...

He wasn't a good student, and couldn't make it through law school.
He was already going on killing sprees then.
This is where the saying: "Don't judge a book by it's cover" goes into play.

2:59 when I fart in the library and the guy across the table looks at me...
it’s so shocking to me how naive some of those women are... “he doesn’t look like he would kill anybody” well he clearly did
What gets me is that law enforcement sit there and talk about how he was not intelligent (He made mistakes by far showing that he was not a genius) but it just shows that a lot of the investigations were sloppy. Bundy and Ridgeway were the reason why these massive task forces were started. Agencies failed to cooperate not wanting to share information and communication which hindered catching these guys. I'm not saying that everyone did not do their jobs but it always comes down to communication with humility.
