Good Day Spotted Bass and Largemouth Fly Fishing on Allatoona Lake Georgia Using Popper or Jig Flies

- I catch dozens of spotted bass on lake Allatoona (The Dead Sea) using a variety of Fly Fishing techniques including topwater, streamers, divers and droppers using a popper for an indicator. In addition to spotted bass, lake Allatoona in Georgia has other fish that I sometimes encounter including largemouths, gar, bream or bluegill, crappie, catfish, white bass, hybrid bass, stripers or striped bass, and carp. I have caught all of these on fly. I believe flies and fly fishing gives me an advantage on the highly pressured waters in Georgia.

Gear I used:
Rod - TFO Deer Creek switch rod. 12.5 long 4 piece 4 wt ( They now have the Axiom II Switch rod)
Line - 5wt Rio weight forward floating
Reel - White River Fly Shop Hobbs Creek HBC5/6
Flies - Home made pencil popper and jig fly
Sweet vid. I enjoyed the gear break down. Unique and clever setup!
Thank you so much! I'm getting pumped because it is about time when this kind of fishing kicks into full swing. I'll be testing some new flies and new rods. 😁
Nice magnum spot my brother
Gideon my brother, when you're impressed, I'm Impressed. Let's go catch this many Tarpon!
Stumbled onto your channel and you are dialed in on the spots. I have only fished Allatoona a few times and never with a fly rod mostly I fish on Carters for fly spots great content keep it up
Thank you! I am currently tarpon fishing so I have been a little distracted. When I get back, I will probably be fishing a sinking line for spots due to the heat. I have fished Carters. Its a great lake. I have had good days there. The fish seem a little bigger on average. But I live on Allatoona so it is just easier for me to fish.
@@skorflyfishing understand that fish where ya can and always enjoy
I have been fishing this summer heat. The boat traffic is getting crazy. I guess I WILL drive over to Carters if this keeps up. Hope you have been crushing them.
you had a blast for sure! i have really been bit by the fly bug this year. i love the popper and dropper, but have only used it for redbreast and bluegills, i need to upsize it for the spots around here!
Chris, I just checked out your channel and subscribed. I need to go catch a shoal bass to check it off my bass species list, but they didn't have shoal bass where I grew up. I too have been bit by the fly bug, pretty much all my life starting at about 10 years old.
@@skorflyfishing i'd love to help out with that. i have an extra kayak and we can make that happen. holler at me some time and we can flat sure do it!
Wow! That sounds great. I may take you up on that. And, if you care to fish Allatoona for stripers, spots or whatever, let me know. I live on the lake.
@@skorflyfishing sounds awesome! i am just outside of columbus in smiths alabama. the flint and upper hooch are both awesome for shoalies but we have a couple real good spots here that are fun to chase them in!
Very cool. I just passed near there on my way back from tarpon fishing. When I recover, 😊 and get caught up on my videos, I will tag you.
What kind of boat is that? Nice set up!
It's a Mitzy skiff. I give credit to my local fly shop (Garner Reed at Cohutta Fishing Company) for tipping me off about it. Love it.
