Met the fan randomly just yesterday at a restaurant actually, he holds those 4 seats. He gave us those seats next to him for last night's game for free!! Super nice guy, he told us the story and he had no idea that votto didn't catch the ball. He told Votto, "nice catch" thinking Votto cought it. That's why Votto got so pissed, he thought the fan was being an ass lol.
The fan was looking up, he didn’t intentionally try to beat Votto! But he was caught up in the time and emotion, and we know Votto to be a good dude! The time he approached the kid with cancer, gave him a home run bat and a Jersey is heart warming!
@@JammastaJ23 Stop! The fan never even touched the ball. This was an easy play for Votto. He just flat out blew it. I give him credit though for apologizing and giving the fan a signed ball. That's how you take care of things when you step out of line.
@@TheDCGuitar13 The fan never reached onto the field of play, the ball was out of bounds and every fan then has the right to snag it. If anything Votto ruined this fans day and experience.
Fans reaching over wouldn’t be an issue if they put a slightly lower inner barrier around the field maybe offsetting the stands by 5-10 ft that would be the official edge of the diamond. With far enough separation between the field barrier and the fan barrier, the players could still have a chance to make plays unencumbered by fans reaching over and the fans wouldn’t have their vision obscured by the barrier.
Am I the only one that saw through the fake tension and realized that it was all a joke? I’m sure Votto was a little pissed the guy stole the out from him but I don’t think Votto was actually serious lol. Those who know Votto’s personality understand how witty his actions can be. Plus the game was meaningless.
assault it is a threat or physical act that creates a reasonable apprehension of imminent harmful or offensive contact. This isn't sensitive this is 100% the legal definition of assault.
He grabbed his shirt in a threatening manner. It's assault. Go bitch to your government if you don't like how the law is written I'm tired of hearing you cry.
The home run Derek Jeter hit if I was the umpire I wouldn't rule it a home run, maybe award second base because don't know whether the guy from the other team would catch baseball or not?
@@Beerd_Bro Incorrect, my friend. The fan reached out into the field of play, so the play should have been ruled an out if - in the umpire's judgment - the outfielder could have caught the ball otherwise. You made your dumb comment 3 years ago, so maybe you have smartened up since then idk for sure though.
@cauchamar pr easily works like that. Fix the issue prior to a problem. They easily could have made a call to the dugout and had the coach say something to him. It's like when a player crashes into a fan and later has replacement concessions brought to him, or a kid gets a ball taken by roady fan on camera and the organization has a new baseball brought to him. Technology is just amazing these days with things like telephones and tv cameras.
Because he knew he was wrong, plus the ball didnt even touch the fan because it went off joey’s glove so he could catch it, but yes the fan was in the way. Also he wants to be a nice guy to the fan
Cool Dude how exactly is he mean????? Don’t blame votto for something a fan did. He could’ve easily caught that ball and gotten an out. But it was a fan interaction. Every player would do it. Votto didn’t have to apologize if he didn’t want to and the club wouldn’t be the one to make that decision for him. Vottos a nice guy and would never mean to be rude/mean to anybody so he apologized.
Hello look again, yes he is in the way but don’t tell me Joey can’t catch that ball, the fan didn’t even touch the ball because it hit off joey’s glove but yes, he was in the way a little bit
That fan looks like a real nice guy.

Nice to see Votto man up. A class act.
That cause he's Canadian
aye....
Dennis Hines I
noo, you want an idea of a player who didnt care about the fans. how about the guy from center field that flipped everyone off.
A man never would have acted childish in the first place
I still blame the guy, he doesn’t deserve an apology.
You idealise votto
Fans need to remain fans and stay out the way
0:42 “the two of them then make nice”
Votto did nothing wrong. He's a passionate guy and it's a funny fan interaction.
Yes he did, never touch another man and disrespect him in front of his family like that. You need to be taking out behind the barn and paddled nancy
Yeah Votto totally had a right to be pissed. If your team's in the field and you're first row you get out of the way.

Votto was 100% right. Shouldn't have apologized but it's probably a PR decision from the club

Kartracer6 lol "assault". Bit sensitive aren't you?

Look at the face of the male announcer watching the women rave on about baseball!
Joey has a history of this not cool at all
Votto should he dropped the ball! Fan didn’t do anything wrong
The fan was wrong though. He should know better. You ALWAYS move out of the way if your player is trying to catch the ball. SCREW THAT GUY.

Steve Bartman did not interfere. His hands never touched the ball, the fan 2 seats in front did
