Non. Le français est approximatif et il articule mal. L'émission manque de clarté. On se demande même s'il comprend bien ce qu'il chante. Autrement, la voix est belle mais trop en force pour cet air.
One of the best high C's in many years. Perfectly sung-dead center.
This is pure headvoice with no poissibility to go into the full voice. The full-voiced High C's are at Fisichella's or Kraus' renditions.
@@HammondDER Nope! If you want to hear head voice/falsetto on the Faust high C, then listen to Georges Thill. Fisichella's top C was more head than full chest. Kraus is in a league of his own when it comes to the high notes though the rest of his singing of this aria in many of his live recording was dry and ugly.
@@operadog2000 This is simply not true. The vocal closure type is headvoice based. This is not so called covered register as FC's or Pavarotti's.
@@HammondDER Corelli's rendition was awful especially with the flat high C. LP sang an exquisite high C, but it was a studio recording.
@@HammondDER to sing head voice is to cover. The cords are elongated necessary for high pitches. If you want a muscular struggle and danger to the cords, go ahead sing full chest voice up there🙄

Amazing singer.The accentuation of the » phonème « in French is perfect. Mon chanteur américain favori en Francais. i will to see and hear him in Opera Comique in Le postillon de Longjumeau. J’ espère qu il chantera aussi à Toulouse et à San Francisco.

Oui peut être dans une petite salle, mais pas à garnier ou à bastille, à moins d'une bonne sonorisation.cependant je dois reconnaitre que son timbre est agréable de même que sa diction française pour un américain.

My goodness. In some ways, this is better than Giuseppe di Stefano's famous performance of the aria (as part of the complete role) from the Met in 1949.

Spyres is wonderful. The coughing into the microphone is unfortunate.

I LOVE Spyres but I just have to comment that there is an opportunity to make it even better. The phrases could be even better connected together a la Kraus. There is still some elegance to be found that way. But this is already an A performance, I'm talking about the diff between A and A+
Beaucoup de mérites à cette exécution et diction respectable pour un non français. Un bémol: j'espère que depuis cet enregistrement quelqu'un lui a appris à distinguer entre "salut" et "sali" "pire et pure". Il n'arrondit pas les "u" qui par conséquent passent pour des "i"
I much prefer Mario Bahg’s his wording much clearer and superb tenor of this century !!!

@@KajiVocalstimbre isnt dark enough to be a low tenor. He has a very middle of the road tenor sound. He can over darken for color effect but natural sound is pretty bright.
A mistake to try the di Stefano diminuendo here. Didn’t quite work, and the vowel was ugly.
It’s not a di Stefano diminuendo, it’s a Gounod diminuendo and it was fantastic.
Better than Di Stefano's scratchy high C that started with head voice whereas Spyres went from Chest to head voice.
Agree, even with Pippo it was a bit precarious.
