I remember my zebco 33 getting wrecked by a redfish when my grandmother took me fishing out there off that very bank back in the 80’s. Ole Zebyco didn’t stand a chance 😂
Hey, I'm heading to Mandeville next week to visit my sister and will have an afternoon to do some bank fishing at Lake Pontchartrain. Any tips or advice on how to get a tight line? Looking to fish with artificial. As well, welcome to come out if you want to. All my fishing is mostly in South Florida Flats for Snook, Bonefish, Jacks, etc. Really want to get someone out there.
Love finding my own spots cause I may not fish like others do and it’s more rewarding. Usually have most spots to myself and its best way to fish when you have no one around cause they haven’t found those spots
Now when you say "beat that fish up", was there a *wink wink* in there? I saw you kindly let that gaff top go but I could also hear the aggression. I'm joking of course.
I’m surprised to see you using a bass boat for saltwater fish. Does the salt take its toll on the live well pumps or bilge pumps? Does the salt damage anything?!
It’s commercial fishing on our coast w big nets to catch menhaden for fish oil. Nets catch indiscriminate so kill many species of fish not just pogies. It’s La so changes to recreational fisherman and not to commercial. When it makes no sense just follow the money
The sheer amount of speckled trout in the water could never be depleted to unrecoverable levels by people fishing hook and line even if you took the limits away. They are that prolific. Just because you don't see them, or you don't catch them, doesn't mean they aren't somewhere. I don't keep 25 but if I want to have a huge fish fry, I really don't want the government biologists, who have an agenda, telling me I can't keep 25. If you know anything about population dynamics, you would maybe understand the incredibly prolific nature of a R selected species that can repopulate to an extreme level in order to overcome extreme predation.
Glad you got your courses done and are back on RUclips. Missed your wit and fish catching. Great video.
