B to Run and A to Jump is CORRECT. You’re clearly just being lazy and not using the proper controller. It’s bad enough you’re playing it on Switch on a monitor it wasn’t designed to be on and aren’t even using a CRT Filter or ANY anti-aliasing… but they literally make NES CONTROLLERS FOR THE SWITCH and yet in this monetized video, you decide to use the Switch Controller (aka an Xbox Controller without Analog Triggers and F’d up letter placement) and then actually complain about it not feeling right… WHY DONT I JUST PLAY DUCK HUNT WITH A STEERING WHEEL CONTROLLER and then complain it feels off? Stopped the video at that point because it’s clear these aren’t 90’s games but modern releases that he isn’t even playing with the correct controller. This isn’t even close to “90’s” and is sad a lot of people probably believe it is.
This is such a good video. The narration mixed with editing and livestream clips is so fun. Thanks everyone! Also great to see the Halo multi-player with the Broski.
I had played the NES before, but our parents didn’t buy us one till 1991. So when we got it, it was the Challenger Set with two controllers and Super Mario Bros. 3, which we played like 8 hours straight that first day.
I remember getting Mario Bros 3 on Christmas morning, 1990. I remember clear as yesterday, the smells, and the whole feel of opening up that fresh game box, reading the manuals and everything before even popping the game in to play. But as soon as I started playing, I didn't stop except to eat Christmas dinner. I played for days. My friends and cousins always wanted to borrow it from there in. No other game will beat that nostalgia for me! I also remember my dad taking me to Canadian Tire after getting through grade 3, to go pick out a game that was on sale. I picked Double Dragon for NES, played the heck out of it.
Just a comment on the intro itself. I was born in '84. I was 5 years older than Adam so my memorable gaming experiences start a bit earlier when the NES still had new games coming out and the SNES was something on the horizon. But a lot of what Adam says is so true. Getting a bunch of friends together, especially on spring break or summer vacation, piling up junk food, sodas, a few gaming magazines with game guides in them and just marathoning a selected game until we either beat it, or became insomniacs trying... No bills to pay, no mouths to feed but our own with the most sugar coma inducing stuff possible, no homework, and the benefit of that childhood imagination that hadn't been beaten down by the real world yet. It truly was the perfect time period to be a kid. The colors, sounds and even those older graphics that allowed us kids to use that imagination even more freely gave us some of the coolest, unique experiences that no other generation had or will ever experience. Obviously the generations before us just didn't have video games at all to enjoy, and the younger generations today, have $600 consoles, $70 games and most of them come out broken and need day 1,2,3 & 4 patches to make them playable. They leave little to the imagination for a kid to fill in the blanks with their own creativity and simply rest their laurels on the fancy graphics. It's only over the past handful of years with stuff like Sonic Mania, Shredder's Revenge, Double Dragon Rise of the Dragons and other faithfully created 'neo-retro' games that I feel like a small sub-section of the gaming world still remembers and longs for those things that made simpler gaming more interesting, fun and accessible to everyone. Now this was a beefy two paragraph diatribe on just the intro to his video, but I hope there's some other people out there who feel the same way about the 8,16, and '64' bit/1st gen 3D eras of gaming, because we hit the sweet spot. We had the best collective experience as a generation of gamers out of anyone to date. And we didn't need an internet connection to get it. That's something that can never be truly replicated as hard as anyone tries.
3:14 Oh if only you were there for the release of The Wizard in theatres; a 90-minute Nintendo commercial disguised as a movie that was basically the prelude to any modern game reveal. you even got a mini issue of Nintendo Power for free for buying a ticket.
As a 2000 kid, I wish I got to grow up with this stuff while it was new since it seems like those who did always have great stories of spending time with friends and having an internet-less experience with these titles. Getting made fun of for liking this stuff since it was "old" was always frustrating but it seemed like kids and teenagers were all over the 16 & 64-bit systems of the 90s. Also, I REALLY like the scripted portions with high-quality editing along with the stream highlights. It's not something I've seen from other creators and it makes your stuff stand out, regardless of name value in other ventures. Keep it up Austin!
I was born in 84 so I truly got the full whack of 90s appreciation, when many games came out, I experienced the AWE for real. The most and best 90s game of all time has got to be Streets of Rage 2. The other SOR's are great too, but in 1992, Streets of Rage 2 was like a dream particularly, it was just very much a "this is what's so great about 1992" vibe to it lol. And it holds up, because it is immaculate gameplay. I completely recommend you bash the hell out of it, on all difficulty modes, and rope somebody in to play it on 2 player mode with you, and fall in love with the amazing thumping techno/electro/house soundtrack.
This video was an awesome trip down memory lane. It's great how the games of our childhood are always there for us to return to. I grew up in the PS1 and N64 era of games, so when I see you playing GoldenEye 007 on Da Party, it's just like unlocking wholesome memories for me.
Yes I remember those days chugs sitting with my brother's watching cartoons playing Sega Genesis Super Nintendo Nintendo PlayStation with Great favorite games some of my best memories are right there with that and the same with going to the video store and picking up games that we weren't able to have mega nose days you were lucky to get a new game
Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES was the game that made me fall in love with gaming. I get the sense you've never played it before (or maybe that was intentional.)
Even i grew up playing some.Mario Games, Started playing this few weeks ago and I'm loving it.more than PS5 or Whatever, My dream is to play every single Mario game from now
Always been a fan of the bit of VG trivia that Michael Jackson composed the score for Sonic 3. Also, Shredders Revenge is a must play for Da Party with all those new DLC characters.
The missed opportunity can be forgiven though because these sound bites aren't even gold; they've SURPASSED gold! Those babies are PLATINUM! Specifically the first "bruh" when Knuckles drowned; I was rendered deceased, sir.😂
I know it’s our nostalgia bias but man was that a magical time to see the evolution of games from 8bit and 16 bit sprites to 3d worlds to explore. Halo and the FPS genres didn’t do it for me. But it was Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy VII, and Metal Gear Solid that solidified my love for games.
You're a year younger than my little bro. ❤ We still have a super nintendo and plenty of games. My bro has it all right now at his house for him and my niece to play ❤
Metroid s. Mega man. Zelda. Street fighter. Double dragon. Ultima. Mario. Golf and others. Dodgeball chemo trigger. Metal gear. Res 4 all Zelda bubble bobble b
If you enjoy these stream highlights, you can find TheCHUGS LIVE at cutt.ly/thechugs

7:05 Gear up for the 1992 SEGA special Sonic the Hedgehog 2
::plays Sonic 3::
That was quite the unexpected yet pleasant surprise.
I had played the NES before, but our parents didn’t buy us one till 1991. So when we got it, it was the Challenger Set with two controllers and Super Mario Bros. 3, which we played like 8 hours straight that first day.

Your love of these things is why I love you Chugs. You're the best
The "presenter Chugs" followed by our normal vibing nostalgia Chugs is an awesome dichotomy 😂
3:14 Oh if only you were there for the release of The Wizard in theatres; a 90-minute Nintendo commercial disguised as a movie that was basically the prelude to any modern game reveal.
you even got a mini issue of Nintendo Power for free for buying a ticket.

How are you gonna spoil me starting with one of my fave Super Mario games and go into Sonic? 🤣 I was so ready for more Mario 3
Raccoon and Tanooki Mario are different things...lol
I never knew Adam Cole was a content lord!
I had the debugged version of Mario 3, had no idea that in every game, you couldn't just hit select to cycle though all the power ups
The first Silent Hill's different endings is still mind-blowing to me.
I'm still playing Shredder's Revenge and using ""Mondo Gecko 🎉
Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES was the game that made me fall in love with gaming. I get the sense you've never played it before (or maybe that was intentional.)

The missed opportunity can be forgiven though because these sound bites aren't even gold; they've SURPASSED gold! Those babies are PLATINUM! Specifically the first "bruh" when Knuckles drowned; I was rendered deceased, sir.😂
“Sonic the hedgehog 2”… plays sonic 3 😂
I might be dumb..or this was recorded 4 years ago. But he said he was 31. He's 35

1989, my favorite game was/is Kid Chameleon for the Sega Genesis.
Is that you, CM Punk? 6:55
Great editing 😂
Halo may not be a 90s game but boy is the halo series so damn cleannnnnn
So...we just gonna gloss over the Britt reference?
Does this mean they're still together or it's just badly timed edited bit by the editor?
What reference? I must have missed it.
@@mrsexyass 26:09 lol
Adam is younger than me by two years but plays games like he's in his mid-60s. 😂
