I think they are where they want to be. Main stream country these days is pretty formulaic. Being in the “alt or outlaw” country suits them well. They play lots of festivals but are still comfy in small venues much like American Aquarium. Just my opinion. They are pretty f’ing good!
Truly one of the purest though simple songs ever composed and played. Everyone can relate to the lyrics that has ever had a young, turbulent, complicated love relationship. Always comes back to the bottom line.
Trust me you will NOT be disappointed! My oldest son bought me and him tickets 3 rows back left center at Mt. Arts Center Prestonsburg, Ky on April 4th 2 days after my bday as a gift. Now we’ve been on them since fall 2022, when discovered Hayes, Kansas. Been listening to them ever since. We both have been to a lot of concerts and big events. Yet 49 Winchester in the small intimate setting that holds around 1,200. Not a bad seat in the house and always great sound and acoustics to begin with. But we were surprised of how many people besides us that was singing along word for word song after song! We both agreed and still do that It was one of the absolute best shows we’ve ever been to! They came out and started it off with chemistry, followed up by Hays, Kansas, then Damn Darlin and Russell County line right off the bat! One banger after another, and they shot out and onto the stage like a canon from the first chord until the end it was high energy, extremely high quality musicianship, and let’s just facing he has is a phenomenal singer, and they just have a great and different sound! I know they are starting to finally reap the benefits they deserve, but in my opinion, it’s taken too long already that they are not already playing on mainstream country radio etc, for all to see and hear!
My momma grew up in st Paul VA and went to Castle wood high school I can reminisce about spending fun summertime vacations down in the Holler Thank you 49 for this true genre of down home feel good 🎵🎻🪕
