But to Axel's case, the psychological trauma of losing a loved one to an accident is too painful to bear because he wanted to save both of his parents. It's really difficult to concentrate when your opponent starts stirring you out of focus via Psychological Warfare.
Also S4 Judai was my favorite version of him. Much colder and reversed just like Yusei and Yusaku. I love a way more serious protagonist and yugioh anime. Just like 5ds and Vrains
