  • The recent release of HyperMesh 2023 completes Altair’s bold move to modernize its flagship modeling environment - improving the overall user experience and adding many new powerful capabilities. For long time and loyal users, however, this can be a big change due to the removal of the tool “Panels” - a cornerstone to the classic workflow. This video aims to help these experienced users transition by detailing where each tool bar and regions of the classic interface has been mapped to in the new user experience. Please also check out our training series titled “Quick Start Guide for HyperWorks Legacy Professionals” at Learn.Altair.com.

    Why make HyperMesh more difficult to use by making experienced users have to learn a new GUI ?
    Those icons along the top don't really mean anything to me; I prefer words. It's one of the reasons why I preferred HM over I-Deas or Patran.

      Hello @Lewis72, there were some recurring feedbacks about the old interface: too much travel of the mouse between the panel, the graphic area and sometimes the browser, strong learning slope for new users to start working with HyperMesh. Also, we wanted to harmonize the look and feel between our different modelization tools (Inspire, Simlab, HyperMesh). It offers us the possibility to build some separate modules that can be deployed in any of the modeling tool (eg: Design Explorer). Not to mention all the new workflows/features we are bringing and that you can discover in this channel.
      Plus, the new icons are still associated with a text, and at any time you can use the top right bar and fill the name of a legacy feature to retrieve its new name and location.
      We agree that it causes disruption to our legacy users, but that has been an opportunity for some of them to update their process to align with our latest state of the art workflows.
      That said, feel free to share any feedback and to contact us through our Community portal or through the support if you need support to transition to the new interface.

      @@altairhowto i would really like to know how much time is saved by going this route. just making GUI look fancy is just a waste of time for older users. I'm sure I'm not alone with this feedback.

      Hello @@sentinel_prime, as a matter of time savings, I would recommend to review the video below, which introduces for our new state of the art for meshing and material and property assignment:
      ruclips.net/video/DL5bsj2FCTk/видео.htmlsi=wy3c7iijhxDwTNtZ
      This is one of the different workflow improvements we are bringing win addition of the new GUI. For sure, it is disruptive for our historical users, but these improvements are needed to move forward and allow more significant time savings, as for allowing AI introduction in our users process. If you want to discuss with us about your needs and/or current limitations, feel free to reach us out through your sales representative or through the support

      @@sentinel_prime Most users I know (about 50-60) of them from various companies hate this new gui. They have no plans to switch to latest version and sticking with 2023.2/2019 hm

      in fact it is absolutely a new CAE software that they have made available to users, even if there are the functionalities of the old version but you have to start learning it from scratch, I think they were motivated by profits on training everyone on their new software and it is very unfair and it is a theft because you have to pay for the training and the wasted time! better to stay on patran

    Thanks for the video. But where Can I find the Tool option from the panel. I am using at home office Hypermesh 2022 with classical Panel whereas Hypermesh 2023 without classical panel. Now I saved some file using 2023 and when opnes in 2022 it is not showing panels. I need to know how to get tools for eqivalence, duplicate nodes etc from tool option. Thank you in advance

    • @altairhowto
      @altairhowto  2 месяца назад

      hello @sanjaip.s8429, we have integrated from the first release of the new interface a search tool top right which allows to fill in any legacy command (such as equivalence, ...), and to get as output the equivalent command/location in the new interface. Also, the different tools you are mentioning are related to model validation, and are now available from a unique ribbon Validation. For instance, duplicate elements will now be under Model Checker. Hope that helps!

      Hello @muhammadaliabid5793, the intent of this video iss to explain that even if the panels are definitely gone with version 2023, all the functions that were in the panels have been moved to other locations, and the new interface also offers new capabilities/workflows.

    Can I open Inspire project files in Altair Render to render the simulation sequence to an animation there? The exe gets stuck when trying to open. is there an alternative workflow of the GPU is too slow for the quality render in live simulation?

    • @altairhowto
      @altairhowto  7 месяцев назад

      hello @amsel007, this could be a conflict between the exe and your hardware. Also if you are dealing with a laptop, please make sure the graphic board is used for Inspire Render, not the integrated chipset

    Hi, where are mask and unmask icons? No F5? thanks

    • @altairhowto
      @altairhowto  6 месяцев назад

      hello @iamninja, F5 is not required anymore and this is part of the new paradigm, to rely as much as possible on the graphic area to avoisd unnecessary back and forth between the graphic area and the tools or the browsers.
      For showing/hiding/isolating, you can set the entity to be selected from the idle mode top left in the graphic area, then select your entities on screen and either right click -> show/hide/isolate, or use shortcuts (A for show, h for hide, i for isolate)

     @altairhowto With all due respect, at least for me this was not the best move, a bit too bold to call it a bold move. As a user of Altair tools, I lose productivity with this eye candy update. Altair should have at least allowed for the option to keep the panel view setup. Ask your users if it really "improved overall user experience". Just reading through the comments here, it seems I'm not alone.

    • @altairhowto
      @altairhowto  Месяц назад

      Hello @gustavoguimaraes7475, thanks for your honest feedback. We have communicated for many versions that panels were going to be removed. In few words, the learning slope for fresh users was complex (any HyperMesh trainer got the same feedbacks at the end of training) and the design of interface lead to unnecessary clicks/mouse travels. Users starting with the new UI can now learn HyperMesh basics more easily. That said, these changes are significant for our historical users and we are supporting them to transition. If you think a web meeting with our teams can help, please feel free to contact us through the support channel

    Congratulations Altair! In one shot you have ruined one of best meshing software ever! No one cares about fancy logos, icons, aesthetics other than your software UI team.
    New version is absolutely pathetic without old menu, options, shortcuts and mouse operations (Especially for those who work on complex models). It is just a repackages garbage. No serious old user will switch to this crap.
    Listen to your customers and bring back old HM options/menus/mouse operations. You can't expects thousands of existing engineers learn new GUI for sake of marginal improvement (Shortscuts and operations are imprinted into muscle memory after years of work)
    If Microsoft couldn't force people to switch new GUI in their windows software, what makes you think Altair with limited users and use case can dictate the market ?? its a brain fart decision whoever made it!
    Rant over..

    • @altairhowto
      @altairhowto  Месяц назад

      Hello @Sunilarkt, thanks for honest and passionate feedback. You are speaking about muscle memory. That is probably one of the single reason that would force a software company (or any company) to keep the way of doing things because "this is the way we've doing it for many years".
      Point is, no product (either software or hardware) offers the same user experience than 10-15 years ago. Or such product get replaced because other companies propose disruptive (and generally) more efficient methods.
      We needed these changes for many reasons (consistency across products, most efficient development of cross utilities, competition, AI integration...) and we are always willing to expose to our users why we brought these disruptive changes and the benefit they can bring to our users.
      If you have some metrics showing you are not able yet to achieve similarly with the new UI the tasks you are performing on a daily basis, please reach us out through regular support channel or your local representative, so that we can support you and expose you the best strategies with our latest versions.
