Van Canto is actually 7 singers (back then, they were only 6 vocalists, I think) and a drummer. Here, they had a choire with them (I think, a fan choir) and a bunch of guests. Including the guy with the guitar. I mean, during european Metal Open Air festivals it's usually mostly like a family meeting backstage and spontaneous guest appearances were normal. And Van Canto had always lots of them, as they were kind of a novum back then (I think, they still are). And when there's one guy with a guitar appearing, they have a guitar showdown (or rock off) with one of the Van Canto singers (that guy has some anomalie with his vocal cords, and after some slight distortion through an amplifier he sounds just like an electric guitar). There have always been rumors, that it's never actually a battle, but the guest guitarist is just pretending to play while the Van Canto vocalist actually 'sings' all the guitar parts.
In fact he fakes the guitar with his voice and then the sound goes through the same distortion pedals a real rock guitar would use. That makes it sound even more like 'a guitar'. He himself explains it in a YT video.

I was very excited to see this video again because it has the participation of singer Andre Matos who unfortunately passed away last year. The greatest singer that Brazil has ever had.
The Guitarist was a russian famous amazing Victor Smolskiy, he was a lead guitar in a band RAGE and now he have his own band with name Almanach. You should check it guys,he's rly one of the best guitar players ever

So glad to see Van Canto appreciated lol. I remember back when I discovered them, so many metal fans I ran into dismissed them as a joke or outright hated them for some reason, only one other buddy of mine who was a super metalhead liked them even half as much as I did.
It was more like this: One day, long ago, in a metal band somewhere in Germany: 5 friends drinking together, REALLY want to be in a metal band. And so, they decide to just found a band themselves. They only realized afterwards, that none of them can play any instruments at all, cause they all wanted to be the vocalist. Well, they decided to do it anyway. The drummer joined them a bit later, cause there's just no metal without a drummer (Apocalyptica agrees on that too).
They as a band are superb. You go to a festival and see all the best songs done by a metal a capella band. Like 10 songs from your 10 favorites done superbly in this highly entertaining fashion. Love they're Manowar songs for example

Not bad. But you have to look at it as an own version. Iron Maiden's version doesn't come along, it doesn't get as emotional and energetic as it does from the Irons. But nice to see that Suzie is just as speechless as Travis.Greetings from Germany

this band died after separation with main singer, since then they are joke. This is simply terrible "digi dan", they can't do anything new, anything good, anything that sounds good. She can't sing anymore, new singer has terrible voice with the rest of the "band". The old cover songs was decent, Manowar, Nighwish, Metallica etc... but it is a history now
