I love that you're a natural that doesn't mind color. So many naturals expect that once you go natural that you're supposed to stick with black curly hair for the remainder of your life. Sorry, but hair is just hair and my hair likes to have fun.

I’m ready to get a tapered. I recently asked a local natural hair salon if they could do a tapered cut and LUCKILY they were super honest with me and told me that they really don’t specialize in tapered cuts and they recommend that I go to a barber instead. So glad they were honest. 💇🏾♀️💆🏾♀️✂️ can’t wait for my new haircut next week.

i cut mines in a taper back in 2013 and didn't realize how fast it grows and the upkeep that it needs..i really loved it but I wasn't ready!!..I hope to be one day cause I really did love it!!...thanks curlybeauty!!...great video!!

I live your videos.You inspired me to get my hair cut. My hair was damaged from heat. My hair dresser burnt my hair, so I had to cut it. I went to white salone and let me tell you, this young white girl cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. I showed her your pics and she cut it to the te. She did a TERRIFIC JOB. I would most def go back to her. She will definitely be my back up hair stylist. Also, she knew what she was doing. She knew how to cut our type of hair.
Girl, I love this! People get so caught up on how the stylist is "suppose to look" but I'm telling you - skill trumps everything. You loving your cut? I hope so. And I'm glad you said BYE BYE to those burnt, dusty ends. Nothing but greatness is allowed on that crown, boo! *thank you*

ifgodwz1ovus No, This white lady I use to work with told me to try her hair dresser, bc she had cancelled her hair appointment that day and I took her spot. When I got there, I sat in the chair and she went over what she was going to do. When she finished cutting my hair, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. She cut it actually like askProy. They don't get scissor happy like some black salons do. You tell them to trim your ends they cut your DAM hair off. I can tell that white girl is the truth. Go to a fantasy white salon. That charge a descent price.

I think that makes a great difference in the fullness and lushness of the look. WOW! so you kinda fell upon a good stylist! That's great. Meant to be. Good advice given here. Too many hairstylists in Trinidad, have messed up my natural hair that I took forever to grow. Barbers do a much better job in terms of shape and style

Wow, I just got my hair cut into a tapered style by a stylist and over paid (a lot), but the good news is that I am super excited because my cut came out amazing!!! Next time I'm going to the barber. I agree with going to a salon it seem no matter what you say they or stylists I have been to never listen my last time at the salon was 2004 was my last nightmare ! So hard trust I care about length being natural I worked so hard to get my hair healthy. I want something bold for my upcoming birthday this will be my 50th birthday in December.. I have undercut before so I know will love it have length I just want keep it at the top...
So wish I saw this before I went to this stylist who I thought knew what she was doing and she butchered me. cut my hair way too short along the sides and back. Can't wait for it to grow out a little. :( I showed her a picture and everything along with a consultation. You hair is fab btw. :)

Love your video. I've took the plugged and cut mine. Now , I'm not sure how to style it. I think we went a tad to short in the back and side. Any tips on how to style that.
I am so over my hair. I'm tired of it. It's boring and I look bald headed all the time. Looks like my top will never hang. Ugggh I colored it about 3 weeks ago so I don't perm it. Omg I don't even feel pretty anymore because of this curly mess. I'm about to watch this video hopefully it works
I'm trying to respond to you @Kris B but it's not giving me the option to reply. Dunno why. Anyhoo, I recommend just finger coiling the sides and back until you get the desired length you're looking for. Maybe you can even do chunky twists (if it's long enough). The sides and back right now will be your texture playground - that is, it will showcase the best of your naturalness and that's your coil/curl pattern. Don't concern yourself with styling that too much, focus on the part you can style and make miracles happen there. It's so much you can do, really... just gotta be open to options. Check out my channel - I have a few styles I've executed with the short hair.

I want to color my hair (which I've done before, years ago) cinnamon but for some reason I'm so afraid to this time. I just cut my locs off in November and I have about 3 1/2 inches on the top, 2 inches on the side, and 1inch in the back. I'm afraid it'll become brittle once I put in the color. :(
0:14 #1. Know what look you're going for. Do you want very short on the sides and back? Do you want to keep length at the top? Do you want it to be even all the way around? Look at photos and bring examples. Emulate a style you like. Google, Instagram, Pinterest, RUclips
0:57 #2. Decide that this is a look you actually want. If you're not sure, consider doing a faux tapered look or frohawk before hand to text out the look
2:05 #3. Decide how short you want to go / how much hair you want to keep. For example she kept hers longer in certain areas
3:28 #4. Are you going to do the cut or will a stylist do it? Do you want to go to a barber or a salon? If you want someone else to do it, bring a lot of photos. Do what makes you comfortable
6:21 #5 Add fun to your tapered cut! Add color

I'm just scared cause I have always had a tapered but that was with perms lol. now my hair is longer now and I really want to cut it again but I don't want to the cut to look weird with my natural hair lol. but I do love this cut and would love to get some color in it as well
I have permed hair can I still get a taper cut ? and my side and back is cut like in a loop if that makes since.
My stylist seems to be ducking me and I want to have some advice on if I should go to her for my tapered or to a barber shop? I'd just ask her (who I trust completely with my hair) but again...she's ducking my question of can she do it or not. Idk if she's just been busy with life or whatever 😂

Thank you for the information. I am wanting a tapered cut but I can't find a natural stylist to do it in my area. I have a trusted barber but I don't know if he will be able to do it.
When in doubt... work it out (yourself). I mean... if you 'bout that life. If not, hold out until you find someone who can deliver what you want. A young lady below said her stylist didn't specialize in natural hair but knows how to cut.. that's what you want. Someone who specializes in cuts and even color (they pay attention to detail).
