What we don’t hear nearly enough of anymore are meaningful, slow, love song’s!!

Motown records was modeled after the ‘magic musical movie factory’ Hollywood movie studio MGM: The unshakable rules; everyone sings, everyone will learn the approved dance steps and everyone will be on time for rehearsals, otherwise they will be at Warner bros Pictures making gangster movies.
Barry Gordy ‘sampled’ that formula for Motown Records and Tamla Records. It worked beautifully. Ask David Ruffin what happens if you broke the rules; you were out!

The Miracles were not a "backup entourage". They were ALL ONE GROUP....INCLUDING SMOKEY.
Smokey Robinson was a member of the Miracles too. They were Motown Records' VERY FIRST group, in fact .the OTHER members (all originals) are: PETE MOORE, BOBBY ROGERS, RONNIE WHITE, and Guitarist MARV TARPLIN. (Yes, MARV was a Miracle TOO.)

Growing up in the 40/50's as a white person, I often wondered why there was such hatred against these people of color who possessed such talent...Now in 2016 I have finally realized that the issue is this: These amazing artists of color possessed a talent that many white folk Do Not, And Never Will..and they are hated for it!...Envy is an emotion of destruction!

I do hope you curbed that envious tendency because it only leads to strained relationships with people!

I thought I seen every one of Smokey's live performances? This one is a gem. It captures every thing about him vocalistically. He is strong and vulnerable at the same time. That is the essence of soul music and he will forever be the king of it. The way he sings this song slays me. It's devastatingly beautiful.

First song I ever sang as a child (as far as I can remember) and my mother heard me and encouraged me..I don't know how old I was, but I know it was before Pre-School..I think I was three...song had been out already for nine years, but my mother played this, Sam Cooke "Darling You Send Me", Jackie Wilson, "A woman a lover a friend" a lot on 45's in the seventies....that encouragement made me fall in love with singing..those songs hold a special place in my heart
