      @@CeceXie what kind of mic? if it has settings on the mic itself, try seeing if there is a cardioid option - the symbol looks like a butt LOL

    • @CeceXie
      @CeceXie  2 года назад +3

      it's this one! rode.com/en/microphones/on-camera/videomicro doesn't seem to have any buttons on the mic itself. maybe i'm not supposed to use the furry when recording indoors? maybe that's the issue?

    • @amyluimusic
      @amyluimusic 2 года назад +11

      @@CeceXie it’s because you’re in a room with a lot of flat surfaces for your voice to bounce from wall to wall before being captured into your mic. I would recommend either having a designated spot in your home to treat your walls with some foam padding to absorb sound waves. You can also try with empty egg cartons to see if that helps first. The furry is to mainly eliminate wind noises so you would want to use it outdoors. Hope this helps as you make more awesome content!

    • @CeceXie
      @CeceXie  2 года назад +7

      thank you! i'm not sure i'm at the stage yet where a designated recording spot makes sense (although i would LOVE that), but i will keep this in mind for the future!

    During the discovery request period pursuant to FRCP 26(f), some attorneys have a hard time turning over information that is deemed as work product to the other side. If it is work product prepared in anticipation of litigation, opposing counsel is not getting it.😜😜😜

    This is really insightful as an Australian lawyer. I think one of the key differences is that we need to attempt to solve the dispute through ADR before a complaint (or as we call it, a Statement of Claim) is filed. It's a common sentiment here that Americans are extremely litigious aha, but I guess that's why you guys get paid more

    • @CeceXie

      it’s usually housed in litigation but has elements of both depending on the particular clients and their needs. data breach response is more like litigation but data protection agreements are more like corporate

    • @CeceXie

      civil rights law doesn't tend to have transactional work. there's some transactional work for when representing individuals, such as trusts and estates, but for the most part, transactional work is overwhelmingly for corporations

    Hey Cece! Great video! Do you think it’s possible to become a successful lawyer without being fully “elite”? Although I have the potential to work extremely hard to aim for the top, I’m not sure I want to dedicate my life to my job, although I’m really passionate about law.
    Is it possible to become a successful lawyer without shooting for a top 14, and a top law firm, to have a more comfortable work life balance?
    Thank you!

    • @CeceXie
      @CeceXie  2 года назад

      yes, of course! you have to define "success" for yourself and just be aware that the legal industry is prestige-obsessed so will always be explicitly or implicitly telling you about what the more "prestigious"/"successful" path could be. but there are plenty of ways to practice law in smaller environments or government or even your own solo practice that are wonderful ways to practice law the way that YOU want to--not the way that others tell you that you should
