    This grand looking house is surprisingly quite humble inside, not at all imposing. It has the relaxed elegance of South California homes. Well done.

    I have watched a lot house tour of big houses but this is the only one that gave the actual atmosphere of a home, most of the things I've watched is more of an art gallery or too stiff but this feels like something a person can really live. Good Job!

      Because it is decorated with exquisite good taste there is nothing tacky . Also it is not a huge house , I would say they do not have a lot of bedrooms but the paradox is that each room is large with a lot of natural light . Basically the total opposite example of a house an Hollywood or a sports star will buy.

      @sierra3866 4 года назад +4

      Exactly! This house felt like an actual home with great interior than just a high tech company like most of hollywood houses. The interior is warm and cozy and house is not unnecessarily too big but with the right amount of space and light.

      @@iwanttodie5207 You've got to be kidding.. a house like that in SG, very likely somewhere around Holland Village or Bukitimah Rd, the land alone is worth 10x that.

      @@lucscholte2343 that is a serious overestimate, another commenter has shown that this house would likely cost no more than $30m to buy the land and build

    What a marvelously Well designed and built home. Would be great to host big family dinners and events. You don't get to see many big houses in Singapore as land is scarce and owning a big house is gonna cost a bomb but hey if you have the money then build your dream home! Thanks CNA for the lovely trip around the house. Also many are envious, just be happy with what you have 😊

    So they didn't design, the simply renovated and remodelled an existing house. That makes it easier to identify where it is and who owns it.

    As an architect and academic originally from Singapore, I find this importation of Western/ Spanish colonial design concepts extremely curious and uncomfortable. I cannot see how such out-of-place foreign influence, ie the idea of a Spanish hacienda can integrate into Singaporean climate and society. It ignores local culture and climate. The house is totally detached, both in terms of context and concept. It is totally sealed and air-conditioned!This house will fare better in Spain, The Philippines, Mexico or South America, or California where the Spanish have influenced, but not Singapore. This may be the result of the clients’ design preference - but although Chinese, the owners don’t even sound Singaporean, let alone the architects! I hope Singapore architecture keeps true to its roots. This is a piece of colonial/ elitist fantasy and let’s hope fewer of such houses will be built in the future.

      You're missing the point. The cost of the environment does not outweigh the economic setback that wealthy people holds against the majority of middle income individuals. These homeowners are most likely billionaires, so imagine pouring almost a tenth of their wealth into such an estate.... Just that one landed property holds enough value to feed... I would dare say a tenth of the Singaporean population. Now would you look at that?
