I give thanks to you, Lord, for using the amazing Gettys to bring hope, love and peace to the world, especially in the troubled years where we live. In remembrance of the birth of our Savior in a bleak season yet not despaired, in a lowly place yet the government will be upon His shoulders. Had a moment just like that today as a matter of fact! The new C.S. Lewis movie bio--"C.S. Lewis: The Most Reluctant Convert"--concludes with this particular hymn, appropriately enough, after he comes to faith in Christ. Enjoyed the movie and its theme immensely--and I'd never heard this beautiful bit of music before.
What can I give my Lord?? My faith in action, my holiness without phariseism, worship with substance and deeds of justice. You deserve them all. Be blessed for this great arrangment.

The Bible tells us to give honor where honor is due. That said, this is a lovely arrangement of this classic carol. Thank you for sharing it!

If this song's accurate, then Christ wasn't born in December, since it isn't officially winter until the 21st. If he was born in midwinter, then my guess would be late January, or February.
