If anyone needs just a little more positive confirmation, I bought a Rega P-10 a couple of years ago and it was the best move i'd made. Absolutely excellent.

Very enjoyable and informative interview! My P3 has given new life to albums that I've owned for years, and I now hear things in the music that were sort of buried previously. Mr. Gandy has an interesting philosophy and balance between the engineering and artistic, and this makes for a unique experience.

Excellent interview! However I went down the rabbit hole learning about azimuth and vta after your Fremer interview and sold my p3/TT-PSU this week lol. Moving into a pro-ject x1b & the amethyst cart upgrade...this deck has a mini XLR out and is great candidate for MC cart exploration.

Rega makes great turntables at all price levels!!

I like Rega's approach a lot, and am trying to find a way to justify an upgrade to my P3 to a P8 or 10. Heart says Naia, but I just can't spend that kind of money on a turntable. I wish we could have learned something about their new cartridge, the ND7, because I have used the Exact previously, and could never get along with it properly. Why did they go make a new MM cartridge in roughly the same cost bracket as Exact? But well done interview! Enjoy the music! That's some really good advice.

👏 🎉 💪 For young & old A/V consumers, RUclipsrs, bloggers, VC bitchers, and glossy mag publishers, mark the tape(!) at the 13min mark: "...price is NOT any indicator of sound quality... full stop." 💪
I'm not a Rega owner though I do own two more-modern audiophile TTs and a Pioneer vintage.
But a single casual interview like this setting can/does help persuade folks from newbies to grizzled veterans like me to look their way.
Reminds me, for whatever reason, of one of my FAV speaker designers for 30 years, Legacy Audio's Bill Dudleston. Why I've owned a pair of Focus towers from early 2000.
Easily one of my biggest VC & forum pet peeves re: actual vinyl albums, reissues, etc., are usually regular bitchers & complainers with their "...bad pressings & 3-5 attempts to find a good sounding vinyl" and/or "...I've had 3 random skips & pops on side 2...".
    Great stuff Steve.

In 1982 The Rega RB250 tonearm was higher quality than other table arms in that price range. It made it a game changer as dealers then their customers noticed. Linn Sondek's Itok tonearm seems to me to have influenced Rega to make a similar designed arm and offer it for "a quarter of the price" like Roy mentioned. Linn only sold suspension table which Rega never offered otherwise. The Rega RB300 was a big improvement and a Rega 3 with the RB300 was the best bang for the buck at the time. Most of my tables are from the 1970's-early 80's, so I don't have experience with the new Rega's but see how they have evolved to offer a quality product. There are only so many companies that could be consistent like that over decades. NAD was big around the early 1980's because they offered well designed, discrete amplifiers at integrated circuit prices. Mission is another example of companies that were really competing well in a market occupied by the big Japanese and American companies.

@@jimsregaturntableshifijukebox yup. I got it used off the bay for $450. Smokin deal! Very impressive. Interestingly I almost like my Fono better than the Aria.
