Honestly the polycount is so insanely high, i cant believe they did that on purpose and just missed it. Anyone looking up a 3d modelling tutorial and learning for a day could recreate all original models in the game it with 99.9% less polygons.
You won't have to go over a thousand polygons for this model. And you can recreate it with a polycount of like 200 and have no real difference between models.
I've recently just barely learned blender, and you can make that remote with wayyy less polies in literally less than 5 minutes. It's an. Incredibly simple render lol

Poppy Playtime is a factory, those tend to be really big. Garten of BanBan is a kindergarten and seems to be as big as Aperture Science or Black Mesa.

I'm a starter student in 3D modelling, but seeing the models have the amount equivalent to an open world game's 3D background is insane. The character models would have just been molded using a stretched cube and a mold tool and it would still have less poly's than the current ones

The 8th one has a German dub and man, it's so much better! It has the German voice actor of SpongeBob, Freddie Benson and even from Jo from Big Time Rush. And they actually made the characters LIKEABLE AND INTERESTING!!

The game was in development for around 8 years and everybody thought it was because the game was in development hell, when it was actually in development heaven. They took so long to release the game not because they struggled to come up with a story, or how to develop it, but because they enjoyed it so much they didn't WANT to stop. They loved making the game so much that they completely forgot how much time had passed, but despite how long it took to complete the game, those who were fans of Hollow Knight were still utterly hyped to finally see Silksong release. Now that its been a few days since the official game released, I've seen so many people praise the developers and the game for how high quality it is. I truly believe that this is a mindset that every developer should have. You should LOVE developing your game, not feel obligated to release chapters on a schedule in order to retain player retention because it shows in how lazy or high quality feeling your game is.
God, they could've made half those assets themselves. Seriously, they couldn't make wooden planks by themselves? A couple of rectangles were too much for them? Come on.

I'm a starter student in 3D modelling, but seeing the models have the amount equivalent to an open world game's 3D background is insane. The character models would have just been molded using a stretched cube and a mold tool and it would still have less poly's than the current ones

The 8th one has a German dub and man, it's so much better! It has the German voice actor of SpongeBob, Freddie Benson and even from Jo from Big Time Rush. And they actually made the characters LIKEABLE AND INTERESTING!!

I feel like a VERY good and recent example/proof that taking it slow works for fans is Silksong (Hollow Knights).
The game was in development for around 8 years and everybody thought it was because the game was in development hell, when it was actually in development heaven. They took so long to release the game not because they struggled to come up with a story, or how to develop it, but because they enjoyed it so much they didn't WANT to stop. They loved making the game so much that they completely forgot how much time had passed, but despite how long it took to complete the game, those who were fans of Hollow Knight were still utterly hyped to finally see Silksong release. Now that its been a few days since the official game released, I've seen so many people praise the developers and the game for how high quality it is.
I truly believe that this is a mindset that every developer should have. You should LOVE developing your game, not feel obligated to release chapters on a schedule in order to retain player retention because it shows in how lazy or high quality feeling your game is.

The thing I hate the most is the "story", or lack of, of Garten of Banban...
In Poppy playtime, the characters/antagonists are toys/dolls AND LOOK LIKE IT, you're in an abandoned factory or so, and the lore, as usual, is just "Toys possessed by kids", which in this game is well/decently made (Poppy Playtime 1 and 2 are good, idk what to say about 3 and 4 though...)
And in Garten of Banban, the characters are... What are they? Weird things made with plasticine or something? And then you end up in an underground.. Whatever that is??? What even is that supposed to be?
