Hey, Mike, I just subscribed. I just got CC4 and iClone8, and I am really looking forward to any tutorials coming from you about integrating Daz characters with this new software. Thanks!
We'll be doing some. I am just installing 8 and 4 myself right now, so give me a few weeks to get up to speed. CC4 in particular will be where any changes to using Daz characters come in so I'll focus on that.
Yes please! A lot of us are having problems using non-transformer import methods in CC4 - the old apply the Face Morph DUF in Daz before exporting the FBX method to get the proper face keys into CC no longer seems to work in CC4, although it is listed in it manual as being the proper method. :( Thanks in advance for any Daz to CC4 tutorials you make
@@MikeTaylor-uw5zy So, just to be clear, you're looking at importing a Daz figure... how? You don't want to use Tramsformer (which would be the recommended approach and the only one I've ever used. And it's the ONLY way you could do it in the past. Now - CC4 *might* have other processes to facilitate this, although I doubt the resultant avatar would be CC4 compatible, but I honestly don't understand why you don't want to use Transformer.
I will be working with the devs to see if we can make this happen - I worked with them on the first Transformer so I'm pretty sure they will at least listen to what I have to say.
Just to add to this, when you don't set the eyelashes to Genesis 8 ones, it won't import with the eyelashes to CC. You then won't be able to change the eyebrows and drop in new ones. So delete the Genesis 8.1 eyebrows, drop the Genesis 8 eyebrows onto the model and THEN export.
Also, if you have a problem with the exporting turning black on the baked textures, just export as an FBX and click the "Collect textures to folder" or something along that line, then the FBX will export with a folder with the textures. I do think that this doesn't export the normal maps, but it fixed the black textures issue for me. 😊
@@HyperGalaxyEntertainment Can you tell me exactly what you are doing? This is on a Daz 8.1 character, right? Which character? And you are using my tutorial, correct? So it comes in and you don't have any eyebrows at all, or you can't apply the ones you want?
@@MikeDKelley hi Mike it's Hid Elle I try to use g8 eye lashes for her but it doesn't blink well in cc3 so I try to import her without eyelahes and try to use cc3 eyelashes which didn't work~
Unfortunately no. And I doubt that RL will ever make the effort to enable this - they have moved on from that process and would (most likely) recommend you use the Autorig function. You *can* do this, and you can even use AccuFace (or whatever the heck it's called) to get the model's face accurately rigged, but what you can't do is both - combine the head with the body. So, for example, if you have a creature with a weird head you can either bring the head in attached to a CC4 body (which you'd have to configure using whatever morphs you might have to look similar to the weird body) or you can take the entire figure and Autorig it but then you lose the ability to do facial animation with the tools you would have for a CC4 character. If you have a particular character you'd like to get in I can show you a way to *sort of* combine the process but otherwise I think you'll have to make do with choosing one or the other.
If you go to the Website I show (RUclips channel for LFA) he has the procedure to assign the textures back to the Gen figure that *should* help - it's a more complicated process, though, and I'm not going to repeat what he already shows in his video.
Hi Leandro, this is the link for the video (Timelapse 4X) with textures conversion in DAZ Studio before exporting ruclips.net/video/p8S8y7D-6Tc/видео.html
I did this with the beaver morph of the Genesis 8.1 male and the backside that was deformed to attach the tail came out messed up. I assume if you have a radical enough morph it does not transfer correctly. Great vid. thanks
Did you try applying the "Beaver butt restore" (sounds like a porno) morph before exporting? I suspect that would work for you. I'm tempted to get the Beaver to try this except given there is most likely a "fur" attachment that won't look very good I'm not sure it's worth it (since that won't transfer well if at all). I might still go ahead and get it to see, because my ego says there's a way around your issue .
@@MikeDKelley Thanks, that fixed the beavers ass :) I had to export the tail as a separate object (create Accessory) to bring it in as CC wouldn't import it in with Mr Beaver and the tail obj distorts then. Any way to export an obj to prevent distortion? I think the problem with his rear is that the morph shrinks the character down in height but the bones remain the same size as the Genesis 8.1 character. Now to bring in the textures.
@@TheGreatBizarro You can do the old trick of loading TWO separate avatars - one will be the one with the tail (but don't even bother converting it to a Gen 8 one) and the other the Gen 8 converted one, without the tail. The tail will then not be distorted and you can then delete the second avatar. If this doesn't make sense let me know and I'll do a demo of it.
Hey dude I have a problem that I get a lot anyways the problem is whenever I import Daz characters with gloves into cc3 the fingers aren't in the glove and the glove won't move I even tried to convert the cloth to accessory and reposition them and reconverted it to clothes but it still doesn't work
I have a couple of tutorials on this but the first thing to try is this - BRING the gloves in as an accessory. Then position the fingers and then reweight it as a glove (but make sure you select glove). If still no joy tell me which specific gloves you are having problems with and I'll make a tutorial on it.
@@dylanwiley537 Um, not nearly as easily or as well - why do you want to do that? I honestly can't think of many reasons (I can think of a few but in this case not practical - you can use hair and clothing on such a figure, but for Groot that doesn't matter).
I am consuming all your amterials like crazy! I also loved your animated series :) You are a very talented individual ! If you will be ever looking for work in gaming industry in characters pipeline just message or email me! :) We will work something out.

I'm just now seeing this. Thanx Mike and the guy who made this possible
Thank you, Sir,!

Thanks Mike. Always appreciate your time and effort.

Thanks Mike! Been Struggling with this for a while ...

great video thank you! incredibly underestmated channel!
I've done it recently with 3dExchange.. though it won't come in as a CC3 Character that way..
Great Tutorial! Although I could only see at 360p it was very useful. Thanks!
The HD version always takes longer for RUclips to process - look at it later this afternoon.
Crazy question...
Is it possible to take a CC3 character...
And put them INTO Daz?!
Certainly might be, but that's not my area of expertise (I really am no Daz expert). Try the Daz forums and I'm sure they will know there.
thanks fr this tip :) really useful
