I do get why people would feel condescended to when most politicians simply dismiss their concerns, so that makes them feel small and insignificant, which hurts their pride. But Trump literally called them stupid, uneducated etc. So yeah, there is a lot of masking the cognitive dissonance and in the end, the truth is, they just feel more in common with him bc he is also inarticulate and immensely ignorant but wears a suit, mingles with the elites and allegedly has a lot of money.
The core issue is that politicians need to work for the people in general bc if they don't, these two-bit conmen will have a very easy job winning over people who have an inferiority complex by rhetoric alone.

Good that he did his long road trip research to be sure even though I suspect his view is a bit askew, still might be more accurate then most slightly accidentally, probably by a long shot than the Coastal seasiders & Washington base MSM.

Our politicians have been bought and paid for. Both DEM and GOP do not serve us. They serve the elites. I've been observing some strange behavior. People are complaining about liberal media being propaganda and the democratic party being corrupt. Then you have these right wing grifters who take advantage. They amplify how corrupt the DEMs are to make the GOP look like the solution. "liberal media is lying to you. The DEMs don't care about you. Come over here!". Then people are leaving the DEMs to trade in one lie for another. I've been tracking dozens of conservative media channels and it's like the liberal media only worst. The republicans are trash just like the DEMs are but somehow people are swapping one lie for another and don't realize it.

Coming from a generally lifelong Democratic person. #1 reason: protests were allowed so much to the point where it disrupted innocent citizens (ie blocking roads, people needs to get to work). With the protests came riots, then looting. Not only was the only did the Democratic party not condemn riots, looting, burning and violence, they were there party to encourage such actions. A lot of times, affecting innocent folks businesses, etc. Add defunding police, taking away gun rights together with zero help from government, and less police. That leaves many people sitting ducks. That is the main reason for Democratic is losing supporters. On top of that they're the only part heavily focused on racism when we know that's a very very small issue compared to what the real problem is; poverty, high cost of living, schooling, homelessness, etc. Bye Democrats!

Yes, the more religious you are, the less educated you are, chances are that you will be more culturally conservative, and will vote AGAINST your economic interests. This is by design in my opinion via the conservative elites, who use these folks to maintain an America that is more closed off sociologically than any other comparable wealthy nation. It's also why we are no longer the model for even much of the Western World. It's also why we know less about the World we inhabit and are more xenophobic than many in other nations are. It's not how a president looks in times of prosperity that defines their legacy, it's how they respond in times of turmoil and crisis that defines them. And Trump failed miserably. He had an opportunity during the early stages of this pandemic to deliver sets of masks to millions of Americans through the postal service, but instead he declined which cost lives. And then would later go on to try and undermine the stability of the USPS in an attempt to discredit the mail in ballots for fear of losing an election. Meantime other countries (like South Korea, Japan, and the Netherlands) handled the pandemic with the attention it deserved and they were able to drastically reduce the number of fatalities while keeping their economies from collapsing.
Taking credit for a stable & solid economy that you inherited (compared to what Obama inherited after Bush) is easy. This is what I mean when I say both parties lack any introspection. The reason why Trump was elected was because Obama had a nice smiling veneer but had little subsidence and further did not keep on his promises to the people. That is toward all groups. I live in the south and most Southerners don’t really talk about their political and economic problems outside their family. The message of hope and change resonated because people wanted hope and change. They wanted someone to finally address the problems that they could not fix on their own and yet Obama sat and watched as over 5.1 million Americans got kicked out of their homes and further the people under debt peonage. And I’m not gonna say Obama didn’t have challenges but FDR had challenge too. Trump resonated with the disenfranchised Americans that have been excluded from our system. Trump also resonated with many veterans because he at least admitted that the Iraq war was bullshit. No one else did that. And don’t get me wrong I don’t support Trump but at least understand why people voted for him and I don’t continue to spit in those voters faces.
Obama represented the disingenuous caricature of a politician that they have learned to despise. And Joe Biden‘s not gonna be too much different.
We haven’t learned anything since 2016. The left goes to sleep when their candidate is an office. It’s the unseen evil from the lesser of two evils. Everyone still loves Obama even though he did some hellacious atrocities.
This class divisive dichotomy has to stop. We are creating a new cast system in America and I don’t understand why people don’t see that. The biggest problem with populism is that when your policies appeal to people's emotions they will vote for your policies, but they will still need results that are rationally sound or the whole thing goes kablooey sooner or later.

To me, this is real reporting by a real journalist. Journalism has become so narrowly defined nowadays as mere editorializing from ‘reporters’ who have never investigated or even experienced the folks they’re so adamantly editorializing about.
    Just bought the book, btw.

Unfortunately, no one cares about ordinary working class Americans. It’s tragic. Nothing proves it more than the Stimulus Plan not passing. The author makes a great point: media etc. should hire journalists from all over and middle America, to get a real view of what they think, and where they want America to go.

Looking at this video after the election, he was totally right. Very little changed, and Trump didn’t lose nearly as much ground as everyone thought from the polls

In front of his supporters smh 🤦‍♂️ I tried showing that footage to my family members an they still defend Obama smh! What can I say when this politic insanity has taken over? Obama could have order a Hitman to kill someone and people that still support him will still defend him no matter what!!! That is some perfect brainwashing right there! Too many people think emotionally and not logically which is the main problem!

If you are media that exists to reach the entire country, then you are a media company owned and controlled by one of only 6 corporations. You thus hear only what they want you to hear.

I love how a media show, run by educated elites, Krystal and Saagar, is constantly whining about elites. Krystal was born in the DC area, to a Physicist father, in Kings County, where median income is $97,000 per year. Literally, a child of the cocktail sipping DC elite circuit. This whole show is a huge grift that is bandwagoning on populism for money and clicks.

@mpls 612 It might mean that if someone with an outstanding warrant for sexual assault shows up at the alleged victim's home and winds up shot by police, that person doesn't become the victim and become an object of sympathy to our Dem candidate for POTUS and VP.

It means equality of opportunity not equality of outcome (no diversity quotas etc). It means a rejection of woke identity politics and critical race theory that teaches that all white people are racist and can never atone.
The Conservative view on race is - we don't care what race you are, if you love our country and want to make it better then you are American and we want to work with you.
