0:25-0:30 Balaklava! Beautiful port with very big history! Pivotal battle happened here during the Crimean War of the 1850s. Not too far from the city on its outskirts is the battlefield where the, "Charge of the Light Brigade" became famous, when a British Cavalry unit charged a Russian Artillery stronghold and was completely annihilated by its concentrated fire. During World War II much of the Russian Navy fled here and defended the port until Sevastopol became completely surrounded by Nazi troops. Also very near the port city, many taken Soviet prisoners of war from Sevastopol 1941-1942 were slaughtered and buried here in mass graves. In its mountain near the sea is a secret submarine base used during the Soviet Union's Cold War against America, but since the late 90s it's been turned into a war museum. Balaklava boasts some very beautiful countryside with massive cliffs, wine vineyards, and the ruins of a Genoaese fortress on a hilltop from the 14th century.
