  • Beijing 2008 on a Windows 10 PC via the RPCS3 0.0.33-16982 PS3 emulator at 4K / UHD. Download the latest version of the emulator here: rpcs3.net/

RPCS3 is currently available on Windows, Linux, macOS, and FreeBSD operating systems.

As I have done for other consoles, I decided to start a project to test out every English PS3 physically released/retail disc games (mainly focusing on NTSC-U region, but I will be testing other region's exclusive games as long as they are in English and perhaps a few others not in English if they are highly regarded and seem interesting to me). I will be testing games in alphabetical order. I will be rendering the games in 4K (some games at lower resolution if they run poorly at 4K on my PC) via the RPCS3 emulator. The PS3 is one of my favorite consoles, so I am stoked to do this project!
Note that at this time not all PS3 games are compatible with the RPCS3 emulator, but the awesome RPCS3 devs are constantly working to make more games playable.

    MY PC SPECS:
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G CPU (24,689 multithread / 3,286 single thread PassMark score)
NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB Graphics Card
    32GB DDR4 3600MHz (PC4-28800) CL18 Desktop Memory
    SSD storage (NVMe)
Windows 10 (I tried Windows 11 shortly after it released and found it to be too buggy for what I mostly do on PC, so I reverted back to Windows 10)
    ---------
For my standard testing, I only change around a few of the emulator's default settings. Here's what I do:
    Settings / GPU
    Resolution Scale (Disable Strict Mode): 300% (3840x2160) -- i.e. 4K rendering
Output Scaling: FidelityFX Super Resolution (I leave the RCAS Sharpening Strength at the default 50%)
    Vsync: Checked/on
    Settings / Advanced
Exclusive Fullscreen Mode: Prefer exclusive fullscreen (I get more stutters if it is set to borderless)
    Settings / Emulator
Show PPU compilation hint: Unchecked/off (I just don't like it popping up on the screen)
Show shader compilation hint: Unchecked/off (same reason as above)
Some games require more adjustments to get them to work. See my comment for this video for the details.

Here are the notes I made when trying out this game via RPCS3: "Playable" according to the official compatibility list. The only thing mentioned on the game's Wiki page is to set RPCS3's "Write Color Buffers" to "On." Doing this "Fixes broken crowd graphics," so I will be enabling it on my testing. On the RPCS3 forums, user "ChwaraeTeg" said it runs at a solid 30fps for him and he only needed to enable write color buffers.
Initial testing with RPCS3 0.0.33-16982 = It runs great at 4K / 30fps (full speed for this game) using my standard 4K settings (see the description) along with the previously mentioned write color buffers enabled. Ready to do a recording.
09/30/2024: I did a recording with RPCS3 0.0.33-16982. It worked great for about 9 minutes and then it crashed the emulator. The log file showed a purple color line at the bottom that stated "F {RawSPU[0x0000000] Thread () [0x06f44]} SPU: [0x06f44] Compilation failed."
