This song was written by Petula Clark, who is most famous for singing 'Downtown'. (To be clear, she didn't write Downtown or most of her other hits, but she did write several songs, including this one.)
Man, I haven't heard this song in ages. I don't remember where I was the first time I heard it because I was six when it came out but I have always liked the upbeat tempo of the song. Five O'clock World is my favorite song by The Vogues, now that I am older the lyrics have alot more meaning to me.
Hello Mr Renaissance Man. This was on "The Queen's Gambit", a Netflix Show. Love the song, liked that you liked it in such an obviously sincere way. Dr Bob from England.
Those background dancers above the Vogues heads were called Go-Go Dancers, if I remember correctly. I know the Vogues. Their best song to me is Turn Around, Look at Me.
The background dancers were called "Go Go Girls". In 1966 I was 18 and got into the "Wishkey A Go Go club" in San Francisco! I have'nt been the same since.
Ty, just looking back at some of your reactions from past months. I am surprised that you reacted to the Vogues (from Turtle Creek, a suburb of Pittsburgh). I was 15 when this song came out. Great High School memories. I'll look for more reactions to The Vogues. Thanks for keeping this classic music alive.
Your the One was also done by Sugar Bears (cartoons). 3/11/72 hit # 51 on the Billboard. I'm 61 had this record that was cut out from a box of Sugar Crisp cereal. Golden crisp of today. Back then a lot of records were free and cut out from a box of cereal. I also have The Vogues Greatest Hits on cd.
THANK YOU for this one, that's is my FAVORITE song they sing. The dancers were called go go dancers. Again I heard this on my best friend ( little red radio).
Those are Go-Go Girls up in the "cages". They were popular, at least to the guys watching. I was glad when they went out of style. I loved the blend of the Vogues' voices and the energy of that song, as well.
I know this song because of my mom and dad. They used to have this on a vinyl record. I thought it was a catchy tune when I first heard when my parents played it.
They were Go Go dancers back in the 1960's. You might laugh about it today, but it was the thing back then. Every generation has its own music and dances.
I had a friend who sold me an 8 track tape player that he put into my 66 Chevelle back in 1973 there about. He threw in a few 8 track tapes which included the Vogues top hits. I never got too many more tapes so I listen to it a fair amount.
I listen to lots of oldies; play this maybe once or twice a year. Good song; Bill mentions Five O'clock World which is good too. Guess I'm feeling a little surprised of some of the songs people have picked.
Drew you have excellent taste, I just got out of the hospital myself I was in a severe fight for my wife with sepsis or a.k.a. blood poisoning it was a heavy weight by but not for Jesus who stepped until the ring I might not be writing this, He is the Author of Life and the undefeated heavyweight champion oh eternity, Bless His Name.
One that I'd like your reaction to, reminds me of my childhood and the church I was taken each week by my parents: The Little Brown Church In The Vale - The Moipei Quartet
Heard the Vogues on the radio today ... had to come back to your reaction. It's just so special, particularly the brunette on the left. Swim, jerk, wave, etc... too cool for school. BTW, back in the day, lip-sync was the standard for TV shows. If the song faded, like it would do on the radio, the band wasn't singing live. Not wrong, just normal.
Hi i saw the song in a new sireal in netflix The queen's gambit the movie was so good the i stay until 4 in the mornin and finish the serial and i just also return to the movie to hear the song lol
There were always “go go girls” dancing on these shows. Don’t know why. Even back then, we used to make fun of them because they really weren’t that good.
If you want to check out some sixties dance moves, with lots of wonderful clips from TV shows of the same period, try the youtube video of The Gentrys - "Keep on Dancing". An unintentionally hilarious dance video is Johnny Rivers - "Under Your Spell Again". For some mysterious reason a young black girl (she looks about sixteen), with some serious dance moves, has been parachuted into a studio full of white people who couldn't be more wooden if they tried.
This was a Petula Clark and Tony Hatch song from 1965. And even though the Petula Clark version was much better, the Vogues had the chart hit. It was their first hit, even though they had formed way back in 1958 as a doo-wop group. Their lead baritone , Bill Burkette, towered over the other three. The only group to look even more incongruous were the Crests. Their base, and founding member, J T Carter, was much taller than the others. And their lead vocalist, Johnny Maestro, was the shortest of all (despite wearing lifts). Their best song (in my opinion) was "Trouble in Paradise". They were the first interracial doo-wop group. Their original line up consisting of three African-Americans (including Luther Vandross's sister), one Puerto Rican and one Italian American.
Yeah I heard you just mentioned something about George strait now his last name similar to mine but spelled differently no relation but I'll definitely like some George strait music he's a big country music singer and I like most of his stuff even though I prefer other music over country but there's some country singers I really like and he's one of them him and Garth Brooks Garth Brooks has a song called the dance that I really like a lot it really says a lot and that song to dance.
Always liked this song. Suggestion, try Glen Campbell’s “I Guess I’m Dumb.” ruclips.net/video/k_Yj9oHikgY/видео.html The song was written, arranged, and produced by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. Kind of a thank you to Glen for filling in for Brian on tour until a permanent tour replacement was found. Very Bacharach like tune.
You got the wrong video. Look at the one Bobby Cole uploaded from 1965, the go-go dancers are great in that one. I have seen them in other videos, such as Byrds "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better". Also "I Fought the Law" by Bobby Fuller, where they are all wearing holsters. Best go-go dancers ever. Really hot. Although those for the "Easybeats" doing "I'll make you happy" are great to, Australian probably.
I play drums for The Vogue's and they are still touring the country. If you get a chance check out www.vogues.com for shows. Todd Smith thnx for digging the song!!! It is a classic!!!
This song was not sung live at the time... So, the Vogues had to pretend to be singing... I paid little notice to the dancers, I was listening to the song: their harmony and vocal range... Good song co written by Tony Hatch and Petula Clark... Top 10 song for the Vogues, who also did My Special Angel and Turn Around, Look At Me.... I wish you had reacted to the song itself and not get so distracted from the mini skirts and dancing...... the voices are very good.... You should give them another go, and actually listen to their singing this time....
I'll check later music reviews oh I guess over a couple months or so and never really paid a whole lot of attention to it before but on this particular video I really picked up on something that I hadn't picked up on before and that is your eyes and how you can express so much just with your eyes I noticed it when you was kind of jamming with them back background singers dancers whatever and then at the very end there when you was getting ready to go into your review there you made that one I left it I kind of got the idea of what you were trying to say in that but I never really picked up on that before I mean I've seen you doing a lot of your characters and I've seen you doing other stuff besides the music but I never really noticed before just how really much you say would your eye movement and your eyes so nothing bad or anything just just thought I'd tell you that I can definitely kind of get an idea of what's in your head just by what your eyes tell me.
This is my favorite VOGUES song, also "You are my special angel". I had the vinyl album in '69 and loved to sing along.
This song was in the hugely popular 2020 TV-series "The Queen's Gambit". Great song, great movie!
This song was written by Petula Clark, who is most famous for singing 'Downtown'. (To be clear, she didn't write Downtown or most of her other hits, but she did write several songs, including this one.)
THE JERK... THE FRUG.... THE SWIM.... THE CAN CAN are the 4 dances that the "Go Go Girls" are doing!
Love the Vogues. Please put Five O'clock World by the Vogues, into your bingo ball
Second that.
Yep. Five O'clock World is their best.
Oh my, I have not heard this in forever! Great choice Dawn!!!
This is a very popular song due to the popularity of "The Queen's Gambit" series on NetFlix!
Brilliant happy song - love it!
Those background dancers above the Vogues heads were called Go-Go Dancers, if I remember correctly. I know the Vogues. Their best song to me is Turn Around, Look at Me.
Love them oldies!!
When AM radio was king and the top 40 ruled the air waves. :)
Those weren't background dancers! They were Go-Go Dancers! 😂 👍
I had a pair of those go go boots back in the day. I loved them so much.
@@vadare I had a pair, too! They were great! And some great music 🎶 shows: American Bandstand, Hullabaloo & Shindig! I never missed them. Sigh.... 💖
The background dancers were called "Go Go Girls". In 1966 I was 18 and got into the "Wishkey A Go Go club" in San Francisco! I have'nt been the same since.
Feel good song. Glad to have heard it. Thank you😊
Ty, just looking back at some of your reactions from past months. I am surprised that you reacted to the Vogues (from Turtle Creek, a suburb of Pittsburgh). I was 15 when this song came out. Great High School memories. I'll look for more reactions to The Vogues. Thanks for keeping this classic music alive.
I’m here because of the Queens Gambit. Good reaction video.
Oh, you didn't interrupt the song with a single comment. That's classy. I heard it first last year in The Queens Gambit and loved it immediately.
Your the One was also done by Sugar Bears (cartoons).
3/11/72 hit # 51 on the Billboard.

THANK YOU for this one, that's is my FAVORITE song they sing. The dancers were called go go dancers. Again I heard this on my best friend ( little red radio).
You can chuckle all you like, but that's what music 'used to be' WAY back... And I still love it...
Great song written by Petula Clark
Those are Go-Go Girls up in the "cages". They were popular, at least to the guys watching. I was glad when they went out of style. I loved the blend of the Vogues' voices and the energy of that song, as well.
That dance you were making fun of was the Frug.
The girls in that time would dance all day
I know this song because of my mom and dad. They used to have this on a vinyl record. I thought it was a catchy tune when I first heard when my parents played it.
Other Vogues songs that are excellent : "Turn Around, Look At Me", "Special Angel" and ""Till."
Exactly.
A wonderful song by the Vogues 🤗 I like your reaction Ty 😂
another great choice, have not heard it in years, ty

This song brings back the smell of pine-sol on an old linoleum floor because my mom played this music a lot when she cleaned house.
I listen to lots of oldies; play this maybe once or twice a year. Good song; Bill mentions Five O'clock World which is good too. Guess I'm feeling a little surprised of some of the songs people have picked.
Love to see that Beautiful Smile while you listen to a Classic :-)
That would be Say A Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin.
Very kind, and patient of you to honor Miss Dawn’s request. Nice job.
One that I'd like your reaction to, reminds me of my childhood and the church I was taken each week by my parents:
The Little Brown Church In The Vale - The Moipei Quartet
Great song from a fantastic group! Enjoy their music!
This was a big hit at the skating rink back when I was a kid.
Real Music 50's to the mid 90's.🎷🎸🎤🎵🎶🎙

THAT'S CALLED "THE MONKEY" A DANCE CRAZE
Who’s here from the queens gambit? Or is that just me?
Mr. Ty Smith! Can you do a reaction video on the Platters' "Great Pretender"? I love your reaction videos!
Try Five O'Clock World by The Vogues
I'd forgotten about this one! Nice!
Heard the Vogues on the radio today ... had to come back to your reaction.
It's just so special, particularly the brunette on the left. Swim, jerk, wave, etc... too cool for school.

Goldie Hawn started out as a go go dancer.
The dancer on the right. Actress Teri Garr
She was one good looking girl I liked her in the movie close encounters of the third kind
I love this song!
1st time I've ever seen Go Go dancers with skirts down to their knees...lol

Thanks for mentioning Johnny Maestro - what a great singer!!
That was great! That was what my dad played other than country...
I love The Vogues.

Well heck... that s how us chicks danced then LOL
Listen to "HALLOW EYES." by PETRA., A very TOUCHING
song that SHOULD get people to PRAY.
It's ok. When 50 years go by your kids will laugh at how your generation danced.

Hi, how do viewers send you recommendations?
Those girls arms must have be sore.

I know I might get some flack for this but as good as Petula Clark is I enjoy this version of the song much better than the original.
I play drums for The Vogue's and they are still touring the country. If you get a chance check out www.vogues.com for shows. Todd Smith thnx for digging the song!!! It is a classic!!!
Another throw back to my childhood. The GoGo dancers were groovy man...LOL.

Looks a lot like they dance now, right?
Give a hand to the old "go go" girls.
😊🌹
Those are gogo girls
Go Go Dancers! All us teen girls dreamed of being a go go girl. What I thought was so funny was how bad the lip sync was.
No One Listen To This Part
another great choice, have not heard it in years, ty
