This Video is unique. I remember i had chronic depression. And one morning i got up with this heavy (sadness) in my stomach. I was unable to take it anymore. I decided to end everything. Dunno how, but i clicked on this video. And by the end of this video my life was changed. The sadness turned into joy. And i am still alive. This video saved my life. Thanks for uploading it.

I am a grown man and this guy's story brought tears to my eyes. Beautifully written and wonderfully told. With a very poignant message. I am incredibly fortunate to have been introduced to the world of chickens as pets by my girlfriend. I mean, how many people have chickens as pets. Not for eating. Or even for the eggs. Just for the sheer enjoyment of their company. They have personalities that are as unique and varied as any dog or cat. I've been an advocate of Galliformes ever since.

Silkies are such gritty little hens, they don't care what the weather is doing, stop out until it is truly dark, survive things that other hens would die from shock with and make the best mothers.
I have saved one from hypothermia using a hairdryer after it fell into the duck pond and watched another recover from a perforated crop after a dog attack.
Our little white Silkies raise all our replacement hens and ducklings and we wouldn't be without them in our flock.
The only downside is they can't understand why a duckling cheeps so loudly when mum is standing on it's foot, haha.

This is such a moving, beautiful story! Thank God that precious little Liza was spared! I loved the way it was written, how the story was told. The wonderful way it was filmed. The fact that it was told by a pastor & the scriptural referencing..GREAT JOB!! I would love to attend the church he pastors .He spoke with such conviction & emotion. It was a beautiful testament to the integrity of this marvelous bird & their capacity for love & sacrifice. So small a creature, so great an inspiration!

I could clearly tell that the chicken hawk landed on a fake or non living chicken, but nevertheless I really loved the telling of this cute story. Even though it's a part of nature, I go to great lengths to make sure all my Silkies and the rest of my little flock of chickens are protected from all predators. I haven't lost any of my pet chickens to a predator. Ever.

I am afraid Crows took my one and only Silkie Bantam and despite the best efforts of my two CreamLegbar Cockerels chasing off the crows, she did not survive. I was devastated. Let me tell you, there is no thing braver than a chicken or meaner than a rooster who is p*ssed off. I love them

This was a remake of what had happened. You can tell they used different silkies for the job. Yes, since hawks of that species are endangered, we aren't allowed to interfere with their hunting habits. We have the same ones around our yard, and are only allowed to chase them away for two reasons. One, our chickens wade in grass and stuff with pesticides so it would harm the hawk, and two, if it tried to attack our dog would probably harm it.

I would run out to save my hens including my silkies! My silkie penny got a huge gash in her head and neck because my other chickens hated her my dad was going to shoot her but I could not let that happen! I put on NEOSPOREN on her wounds twice a day and it took about a month and a half to heal completely with feathers too! She truly is a miracle story! Now she is almost 2 and alive and well living with her sister Luna! They both are kept seperate from the other hens! Love u Penny and Luna!!!!

They will hatch out all sorts of eggs and raise them. Your video was a delight to watch, so well told the life of a Silkie she is lucky to have you as her friend. Yes, I too would be proud to be called a chicken amazing birds and do have a high intelligence level all unique personalities.

+StitchBaby I got so angry when I read your reply. You pooped in the well. I rejoice with a mother who managed to finally have a family. Just hope that you never feel the pain of the loss of children like I have.
I love hawks, and the hawk could find other food, like field mice, not domesticated chickens. I love chickens, I eat chicken, but I wouldn't eat Liza.
For you, the only thing that matters is that they all die. You don't care about the work of the man or of the hen, only the happen chance of the hawk. Your way of thinking is what is wrong with the world today, your evil thinking and those who think like you do. " How dare anyone live in hope. How dare anyone have a miracle in her life."
FYI, that looked like a young eagle, not necessarily an adult. You just assume, so typical of pro-deathers. I pray that you repent.

I can attest to a silkie hen's determination to be a mom. Our buff silkie, McNugget, brooded three wooden "practice" eggs for a MONTH until we got six chicks to graft to her. Unfortunately, she only raised two successfully, and we can only keep one- roosters are illegal in my community. Her remaining baby, now a pullet, is still cared for meticulously by Nuggie.

Our white bantam silkie is called Spot because she had one large dark spot. She was a broody hen, but she seldom laid eggs. After several periods of 20 days plus sitting on an empty nest I put 2 eggs from a large hen under her. In a week I knew the eggs were fertile so the wait began. On the 22nd day both eggs hatched and Spot and another black silkie Lonesome became like 2 step moms raising these two chicks. They never left their side, showed them how to look for food, covered them when it was cold and protected them when the other chickens chased them. It was amusing to see Spot try to cover a chick that was as big as her. After 8 weeks Spot and Lonesome rejoined the flock and their two chicks Little Bit and Dot joined as well. So far all lived have lived great lives ever after. The end.
