Thank you for smashing that like button, your great comments, and incredible support !
Chameleon makes great antennas. Portability with this one is off the charts. Great video !
Thank you !
One of if not the best portable antennas available. Can't beat it for POTA ! Thanks for sharing !
You welcome !
Well, actually you can easily beat it for POTA. Almost no one uses these for Pota. They use Resonate antennas that put out 12db more signal than this one. That's two full "S" units more signal going out. If you are one of the few running ALS, then maybe this type of antenna is for you. Wideband antennas like this have some big losses associated with the ability to have all bands on one antenna. You get almost all the bands on a EFHW without the losses and without the need for a antenna tuner. Same for a Silver Bullet, Buddipole or Dipole. This is a lot of $$$ to spend for a specialty type antenna that few really need.
Can't say enough good things about this antenna. Great job including the SWR test !
Thank you !
They really hit a home run with this ! Thanks for the video !
Chameleon really did. Your welcome.
Chameleon did a great job with this antenna ! Thanks !
Yes they sure did ! Thank you !
This antenna is really vesitile ! Great SWR on the bands. Thanks for sharing !
Very pleased with the SWR in a vertical setup. Anxious to try other setups. Your welcome !
Really is the perfect antenna for POTA. Thanks !
It sure is. Your welcome !
Love all the options for this antenna. Great video !

Great options with this setup. Pricey but in my opinion well worth it. Thanks !
Yes it is worth it. Thank you for your comment.
Looks like a great portable antenna! Thank you for the video.
It sure is. Your welcome !
Good but pricey antenna. Thanks for sharing !
Your welcome !
This antenna is approx. 12db or 2 "S" units down in transmitted power compared to a resonate antenna. This fact is disputed by no one. It is the 5 to 1 transformer that has the losses as well as the design. Broadband antennas with transformers or resistors that are not resonate always have big losses. You also need a tuner. More losses. They are quality antennas, well made. They will get contacts as everyone shows on their videos. The receiving station will receive the signal about 2 "S" units lower than if the same transmitting station used a resonate antenna. Is it worth it ? It might be for you. Not for me. It also limits the amount of received signal. I'll stick with my resonate, $50.00, 49 to 1 end fed and make the contacts with the weaker stations. No tuner needed. For a vertical, the Silver Bullet or the Buddipole are hard to beat and resonate. Unless you are running ALS, there is no reason for this design of antenna. The degraded performance is just not worth it. People reviewing these antennas really need to start telling the whole story about these antennas. If the truth is known, some people may still want them. Many more won't. I think "Chuck" on RUclips has the only honest review of this antenna. Some others skirt the issue, but don't come right out and say it. The hazards of getting free stuff for review.....
John thank you for your comment. I am aware of all of this. For the moment my antenna has to be portable due to my house being in a HOA. I don't have the luxury at this point of using a EFHW due to where I live (I would have to take it down each time I use it as my HOA cuts the grass and trims the trees). I like both a Buddipole and/or a Wolf River Coil Silver Bullet but chose this due to the different configurations available. When I get additional funds I will be looking to purchase one or both of use. For the record I purchased the MPAS 2.0 from DX Engineering myself.
@@hamradiobasics I 100% understand.
Interesting results. What is the model number of your MFJ Analyser?
I set up my MPAS 2.0 Mini (with the CHA Cap Hat & Extension Whip) using the single counterpoise in the back yard.
I took some swr measurements using IC-7300 built-swr meter (RTTY mode).
Here are the results (for the middle of the 40,20 & 10 meter bands :
7.15 mhz = 2.7
14.17 mhz = 1.25
28.49 mhz = 3.0
The antenna seems to be 'tuned' more for 20 meters, and drops off quickly by 40 and 10 meters.
Do you or anyone else agree or disagree?
I did notice the drop off on 10 meters. Thank you !
Thank you. Quick question. Will all the parts fit in the backpack? The antenna extension for the whip looked too long to fit in the backpack. Hard to tell in a video but curious to know before I buy. Thanks again for a good video.
Your welcome. No they do not fit inside the backpack. There are hooks to fasten the whip on the outside of the bag.
Wrong. The antenna fits in the backpack. The antenna extension goes in on an angle and will fit. Perhaps he has an older backpack but the new one does fit the antenna. Call a chameleon and they’ll tell you.
@@dovetomarc I bought mine about 1 1/2 years ago so it may be older. I tried that and it did not work.
I would imagine it has the Micro and not the Mini? Is that corrrect?
Correct. It has the CHA HYBRID-MICRO.
Another channel had them putting the choke at the radio of the cable. Any chance you could do a quick explanation of why you chose to put it on the antenna side? Also, is it possible to put guy wires on this antenna in case of higher winds? Thanks!
The instructions indicate to do so and I followed them www.manualslib.com/manual/1607811/Chameleon-Antenna-Cha-Mpas-2-0.html?page=11#manual Yes you can put guy wires on the antenna but I personally have not had to do so. Thank you.
@@hamradiobasics makes perfect sense….thanks!!
Just happened to see your video. I've got the MPAS 2.0 and have had an interesting differential between using the counterpoise and not when the spike was pushed in moist earth (grass) at a state park: Crappy SWR regardless the length of the counterpoise for a band of interest and excellent SWR with NO counterpoise.
Have you done any similar testing?
Jim thank you for your comment. That's kind of polar opposite of what I have experienced. Did you use the full vertical setup ?
@@hamradiobasics Affirmative. The Mil Ext 2.0 and the CHA Mil 2.0.
@@jimpiper5297 That's a head scratcher for sure.
Thank you for sharing. Great video. KO4UWU
Your welcome ! Thank you Janice ! KW4QO
I use mine all the time for pota. Too heavy for hauling up to sota.
It's perfect for POTA - easy to setup and tear down. You are right about SOTA - it's too heavy to lug around.
