  • For over 55 years since independence in October 1968, a single family has been in power in Equatorial Guinea without change. This is the Nguema Family of Equatorial Guinea. The world's longest-standing leader, President Teodoro Obiang of Equatorial Guinea has been in power for 44 years after he snatched power in a 1979 coup from his uncle Francisco Macias Nguema.
Equatorial Guinea enjoyed only 5 months of independence before it was tossed into a nightmare of a brutal dictatorship of Macias Nguema that lasted for eleven years….

@@aped,not true. Félix Houphouët-Boigny was not wealthy. He came from a royal family but wealthy he was not. He became wealthy because he agreed,
      1. to submit to French domination and continued subjugation of Africans.
      2. to accept the French as superior to Africans, and so the French enabled him as a European in black skin, just as the French enabled Omar Bongo, Ali Bongo, Paul Biya, and Alassane Qattara. All of them became wealthy because they enabled the French to destroy black people economically and culturally.
The French offered him a simple quid pro quo. We will accept as a black bourgeois and let you rule if you protect our power and wealth extraction scheme in Ivory Coast.
Félix Houphouët-Boigny is one of those who could best explain why France was able to continue extracting hundreds of billions of wealth out of West Africa and the corresponding mass ignorance and mass poverty in West Africa today.

Heard about Teodorin Obiang around 2014 in an article about Hawaiian fishing. The writer told a story about some wealthy 'African Prince' from EG that was sailing off of Maui and had a yacht full of 'babes'. Then after that I looked into this guy and found out he was dating the rapper Eve at that time and bought Michael Jackson glove from Billie Jean.

Africa should be the winner of the geo political war going on between the US vs OPEC
Angola just left OPEC equatorial Guinea and Nigeria can have there time in the sun and by helping out the world with this cost of living issue and inflation by upping there oil production making a lot of money while doing it and helping out the world
For OPEC are using there platform to go against the US and not caring who there decision affects
Africa should come together and safe the world

I am not a big supporter of foreign regime change. My memories of Iraq and Afghanistan are far too vivid for that. I also realize democracy isn’t exactly on the march at the moment - though I believe it will be again. And Africa has already proven that it’s as ‘ready’ for democracy as anywhere else on earth. The situation in this country is intolerable. First they’re ruled for more than a decade by a genuine madman who is followed by his sadistic thug of a nephew followed by his greedy idiot son. This mafia family has been terrorizing and robbing everything from its poor people for almost 60 years now. I wish some coalition of African states like ECOMOG - minus the corruption - would chase these criminals from power and let the people of Equatorial Guinea genuinely choose what kind of government they truly want. Thomas Sankara may be dead but he is not forgotten and I imagine his spirit is mightily displeased that the likes of the Nguema clan are still forcing Africans to live in such misery. And shame on my own country for not only turning a blind eye to what’s happening but inviting Obiang for state visits and letting his son live here. They owe the people of Equatorial Guinea every penny they’ve stripped from the people.
Again thank you so much for both starting this channel and doing such a magnificent job with it. This has become the best single source of information on Africa I know. The US media is almost useless in that regard. And those films are beyond amazing. I never thought I would see actual films of Macias at his trial and in his prison cell no less. Just curious - have you ever considered an episode on Ali Solih of the Comoros ? He was not quite Macias but not so far off either. Liberate Equatorial Guinea ! They have suffered enough.
