There's a couple more rods in the top scanner part. And a motor (small). Also, don't throw your glass away, unbroken it can be used for picture frames and such.
Yeah, but as a scrapper, not worth taking apart. It depends on the person taking it apart and their intentions with the items. Thanks for the comment. Stay well.
Love the vid, yes Travis the rods, motors and even the springs I save up and sell on eBay. I have some full unbroken glass which I sell to framers. I save up 10-15 motors and sell them. All good guys, thank you.
Definitely different depending on the printer make but always worth stripping down for me, as they don't take long and can have great motors and chips. I show one this week loaded with goodies. Especially selling the chips the way I do, some yards won't take printers with all their plastic but as ever it depends on your local yard, so it's good that yours does. Great video as ever Tinman👌👍
I guess it depends on where you are and the make. Here they are almost the same price as whole. It does depend on size, as a large photocopier like the ones at our school would have some goodies for sure.
I did after, but very small wire and still not really worth taking apart. I am just glad that they were diverted from the landfill. I am amazed at how many are thrown out.
Take apart enough enough printers and scanners and the steel plates add up fast. Sell the cartridges on eBay in lots, buyers will refill them. Don't get too scrap happy technical with the boards, sell them in bulk lots on eBay or to Etsy sellers. Worthless circuit boards for scrap value can look really shiny and pretty to crafters. Most electronics, shredders, and vacuums that 'don't work' just have a fried wire or broken mechanism while all of the motors still work when removed. Take apart enough and you'll learn where to save time sledge hammering or sawing to get to the fun stuff.
For new scrappers I'd just like to say when you tear appliances apart however little material may be there...ie copper stainless Gold ect the small amount is not the point, what you do is just keep saving up whatever metal it is and store it away, do it for a year or even 5 years if you want and by the time you turn it all in you will have a lot.....I did this with copper over 2 years and had 200+ pounds which was at 2.85 a pound...aluminum cans are the same way....very lightweight by themselves but I ended up turning in 1000+ pounds after 10 months of saving them at my complex...
Just finished micro scrapping a printer and still wondering if it was worth the mess. I did wear cloth gloves but everything had ink on it except the dogs and cats (I think ;) Wondering how to get the ink off of my hands!!! Not one of my favorite scrapping thus far.
yeah I seem to get a good few of them printers aswell.i get my stuff for free so I can't pick or choose.i just take it all.take the good with the bad.great video buddy
Yup you are right. Unfortunately for me, there was a bad ink leak in the apparatus that hindered me to break it down and take it out. In my opinion though, still not worth enough to break it down. Thanks for the comment. Stay well.
You can get two ta three little motors out of them to, there is a little bit of silver also but very lil. They are a mess. I started taking a hammer to them ha ha
funny i just looked up if scraping a printer was worth it after scraping a laser printer... what a pain tons of screws lol should have watched your video first.lol.
Laser printers can make the biggest mess. I took one apart last week and curbed the other two that I still had in my car. Just not worth the time and random ink splatters in my opinion.
As a model engine builder, I love the ground and polished steel rods for those projects, I have about 30 lbs. of them saved over the years.

Was just about to open my printer apart. Glad i found this.
Put anything covered in plastic in the freezer, makes the plastic brittle and easier to smash up.
Great video. 100% worth taking apart to me. I'm getting the gold out to add to the rest.
I always strip them, and I've shown they can be loaded with goodies too👍
Thanks. Diversion is why I scrap but it’s always worth knowing whether it’s worth the time to break things down.

At 9:35 there is a small copper bearing motor, but very small and weighs 5 oz.
You did not get the gold from behind the light in the top part. And it's usually the easiest gold to get. It has exposed gold bonding wires.
I did after, but very small wire and still not really worth taking apart. I am just glad that they were diverted from the landfill. I am amazed at how many are thrown out.
Yes. This is the easiest gold removal part. It's the one thing I most want from scanner / printers.
The multifunction units (printer + scanner) have those small useful PCBs that power CCFL tubes. They can be used as an improvised arc lighter. 🤔😊
On the scanning bar there is gold.. you need to do more research.. first time you take something apart.. do it to the last tiny bit
Also the rods are stainless.. but they are 400 Magnetic stainless.
Thanks man, I've learned a lot from you.
Glad I could help. Stay well and happy scrapping

Empty and partial ink cartridges are worth money too for ink jets. Especially cannon cartridges because the design for refilling.
Yup, some Staples will give $10 off next purchase, etc. It depends on where you live. Stay well

Did you try just soapy water ? 🤔😕
It worked for me.

Nice to get free for sure. Glad you do and are able to divert from landfill and make some money as well.
Always thought those bars were white brass. Stainless might make a little more sense.
Some are, but not worth the weight taking it all apart for less than a pound of as.
Love your videos
Thank you very much for that huge compliment. Glad you find the video’s entertaining and informative
Can you comment if the sensors for motor to make it spot n go have anything in the line of silver in it? Please respond.
I am not sure, I will have to do some research.
Hey Tin Man, the black plastic sliding mechanism where the ink goes into has gold recovery.
Yup you are right. Unfortunately for me, there was a bad ink leak in the apparatus that hindered me to break it down and take it out. In my opinion though, still not worth enough to break it down. Thanks for the comment. Stay well.
Is the end of that white ribbon silver?
no. some say yes but it's not
I just toss em as shred
There is gold in them
It's a lot of work to get that gold to flake off
🤣🤣SCRAPPER DOESN'T LIKE TO GET DIRTY!!🤣

Yup, but not worth the mess. The ink can get everywhere. Almost make as much from bringing it in whole
