- Today we'll build a tiny cyberdeck from plywood sheets using the Atomstack X30 Pro. This is Atomstack's new flagship gantry-style laser cutting and engraving machine with a powerful 6-core, 33W laser module. The Cyberdeck uses a Raspberry Pi and Hyperpixel 4 display along with a repurposed Blackberry keyboard and trackpad.

If you've got any ideas for Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or other Electronics projects or tutorials you'd like to see, let me know in the comments section. Наука
Very cool. If you added a LiPo pouch battery under the keyboard (with a deeper enclosure) it may balance the weight of the screen better - and make it completely portable.
Yes, I think some form of battery pack to make it truely portable would be a great addition
@@MichaelKlements I have an old smartphone lying around in which I installed raspberry pi os but is it possible to add gpio pins to it using an otg board like ft232h as getting your hands on raspberry pi si very hard
@@ParshvaPatel-ib9lm which phone do you have and how did you did ? Can you make an tutorial of it
@@MichaelKlements you could add an smartphone battery 5000mah or tablet battery if it could fit..
@@user-ko4zb1lp3y Jai shri ram . The raspberry pi os is not available anymore but this is ubantu based on bullseye therefore it is almost same

Very cool, Michael, well done 👍
Build a box under the honeycomb thing..then run a vaccum/shopvac into that enclosure...it will pull the smoke down into it then outside...instead of it just blowing it around your shop
Cool upgrade and it does well!
Keep em coming!!!!
Thanks for the suggestion Hayden. This works if you're cutting all the way through the material in a single pass but for thicker materials that require multiple passes, the smoke doesn't make it to the bottom until the laser breaks through.
@@MichaelKlements It still should create an airflow that will pull the smoke down and out...But yeah, if not cutting thru it blows smoke all over huh
I likes it.
Only change I'd recommend is some stain for the wood to add character and warmth.
Everything you make is awesome. If you wanted to tweak this, I’d add some sort of led rgb lightening around the bezels (for night time recon missions) and a lithium battery to make it truly portable. Oh, and there’s always room for a camera...somewhere
😅👋
Thank you, yes a battery to make it truely portable would probably be my first upgrade!
nice!!!!! love it nice work
Idea, wrist mounted cyberdeck
These open style lasers freak the hell out of me. A stainless sheet provided?! Bouncing that light all over the place no doubt
An enclosure is definitely something you'd want to get if your using one of these often - for safety and ventilation
If you use it for a long time, it is recommended to buy a closed protective cover - FB2
soooo very cool
I like that a lot, definitley a battery, I have a pi 4 siting , it had another purpose but I did something else, so I may think about doing something similar.
Great ❤
For a more seamless design, you can use the USB C (USB 2.0 on he broadcom processor) input on the pi for the keyboard, and power it from the gpio header :)
Maybe make the bottom thicker and add a battery for that portable use. Then the power can plug in the bottom half and still use as desktop.
is there any way to get that casing online ? i cant afford the x30 pro ..
Where do you get the laser protection glasses you showed in the video?
The ones that I have are from Dioptika
The x30 pro is a powerful machine but is not very sharp engraving small letters as the A5 pro +. I have both machines and i notice this problem.
the hyperpixel requires spi and i2c pins so i could not use it with my project that required dedicated and exclusive spi and i2c. i too have the square version lying around for over a year. my other rectangular one is on the rpi 400.
You should still be able to use I2C devices with the Hyperpixel display, but yes it uses all of the GPIO pins so you'll lose the SPI interface as well.
Will the laser cut 0.5 mm carbon fiber? It would be great to see if it will cut it. Thanks for the videos!
I doubt it, you’d probably need to use a CO2 or Fibre laser to cut carbon fibre sheets
@@MichaelKlements Ok thank you. My s20 pro will cut 0.4 carbon but takes about an hour to cut a small 2 inch square part.
I don t understand, the trackpad from the keyboard works?
Yes the trackpad and keyboard both work
Can you make a gaming setup with raspberry
What would you like to see in a Pi gaming setup?
@@MichaelKlements play genshin impact gameplay and a video edit if possible
Can I pls have your old laser
Repurposed blackberry keyboard? Sad to see the phone itself be gone
Blackberry have ceased all support for their software as of January 2022 so these are essentially paperweights
@@MichaelKlements Blackberry world and Blackberry maps is gone, these were shit, you can still make calls, texts, even browse the web with Opera Mini. Blackberrys are still useful at least to a collector like me
I DONT RECOMEND TO BUY ATOMOSSTACK AT ALL GUYS!! I HAVE THE PRO 20 MODEL AND I CAN SAY ITS BAD!!
Can you share what you don't like about it?
@@MichaelKlements Honestly whats not good hmm: Long list of bad stuff is coming so read it.
1: The strucker itself is bad and how all cables etc are blocking etc!
2: No software to use the Laser and they have is like for kids! No advanced options etc!
3: if you remove the sd card during print it stops!
4: Hard to find the starting spots!! specially small objects etc! i wont recommend to pros!
5: cant even cut in one pass the 4 mm !!! i have tried many times in full power!!
6: Super noisy!
7: lowering the laser to right level etc !!
ill do video of this soon so be tuned bro.
your videos are great but not the product bro!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it, it's always good to get someone elses perspective on what issues they have run into.
I agree that the cable management on the X30 (and other Atomstack models) could definitely be improved.
The other issues you've listed are common to all of these style machines, do you have a brand/model that you use that you think does a better job? In my experience, no-one likes the software bundled with any brand's machines - which is why software like Lightburn has become so popular.
@@MichaelKlements bro trust me no improvements!!! only laser is more powerful but if x20 pro couldn't cut 4 on full power!! it supposed to cut in one pass 15mm!!
@@MichaelKlements I have seen that it is possible to install linux on old smartphone but is it possible to make it into partial raspberry pi by adding raspberry pi pico to the phone or add adafruit ft232h
