An exclusive series of Living Legends Music interviews with Mark Farner, formerly of Grand Funk Railroad. Part 8 of 9. Recorded on March 15, 2009 in Weston, FL.
I got to meet him in Vegas... Super cool...
I could listen to Farner all day. Grand Funk Railroad were one of the greatest bands ever.
No they weren't!
@@EPA18 oh yes they were. You're tone deaf and know nothing about music!
@@EPA18 yes they were
You have to love this dude
Mark is the kind of person I'd like to call friend.
He seems so humble, so down to earth. Love you, Mark!
Wuat a inspiration
Mark Farner...you are my inspiration...as I travel on my own musical journey...your words speak Truth from God...
Old stuff is the best!
"Stomp-boxes"!????!!?? This man is GREAT!!!!
But Dude! Haha...love it.
Mark Farner, you are a rock GOD. Don, you are the ultimate rock n roll motherfucking backstabber. With Billy Joel coming in a close second.
...and I break down in tears when I realize that they don't make this equipment any longer...
Wish I understood what all that equipment he's talking about is. Sounds amazing.
You can feel his energy in this interview!
I saw Mark last night at BB King's / NYC…HE STILL ROCKS, great show!!
God bless your heart, Mark.
I'm glad Mark weighed in on the Tone-Wood discussion.
Mark Farner
Is inspirational
In his performances
And human compassion,
A true role model
and the fans Grand Funk star 🌟
What a lovely man. So open, nice to listen to. Sorry to hear and learn what the other band members did to him. Thanks for the great music you gave us Mark.
I absolutely love this man. As a musician, as a human being he's a legend!
God bless you Mark.
He is the nicest human being. He deserves a whole lot better than he got from big head n Mel. #NOFARNERNOFUNK 🇺🇸💜🇺🇸
When we exit-the-bones!! Very well said!!!
Mark's the real deal. Just saw him open up for Blue Oyster Cult in Bangor. He's was amazing!
I have played in bands for almost 30 years and i always had the volume knobs on the guitar all the way up all the time. And just relyed on a volume pedal to get the sweet spot i need at the right time when singing. I have had so many tell me i'm lazy at using the knobs on the guitar, but after hearing that Mark does it the way i have now i feel good.
Mark have always loved your music, and more important knowing that you have Jesus in your heart. And your wife to. I play and sing also. Look forward to playing with you in Heaven.

YES!!! GODSPEED MARK!!!!
Analog is the best way to do rock. Clean pure and crisp.
Absolutely!
Saw Mark play a small club in Cambridge,ma , mid 80s during a snow storm, the late Billy Powell of Lynyrd Skynyrd opened up for him, Mark joked to the small audience about being used to playing out a sold out Boston Garden back in the 70s,long story short,he played a few religious based rock tunes and then went into a full blown set of classic Grand Funk Railroad songs and to this day I put that concert in my top ten concerts of all time...It really is sad how a guy who wrote all those songs was screwed over by his former bandmates over the use of the Grand Funk Railroad name, don't think it will happen but sure hope they work things out because they belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and proved on the 1999 reunion tour that they still got the magic...
Jealousy is an ugly destructive mistress. Look what she's done to GFR.
cool guy
This series is so great. Love hearing him. What a talent. What a legend.
This guy and his music saved my soul,God bless you mark
A new piece of equipment = inspiration, then that explains my store/studio. I'm ALWAYS getting inspired!
GFR is my favorite band next to Beatles. IF Brewer brought his band to Ironton - I would NOT go see them if free. On the other hand I would travel miles to see the master Farner.
Love you as a musician ..love the man I see here. Blessings Mark Farner !
Man... I wish I lived in that vicinity...
GFR is not GFR without Mark Farner. "Heartbreaker", "Inside looking Out" are some of GFR my all time favorite👍👍
I have followed this band since in high school. I've checked out the new "GFR" and I really think they are making fools of themselves. I for one believe that what Don did to Mark was atrocious and when Mark was no longer in the band, ALL the TALENT left with him. Godspeed Mark, you're still the best!!!!!
GFR is trying to tour without Mark? What a joke.
No Mark, no GFR!
Great listening to this master talk about music gear.
go mark
Love from Springfield ,Missouri ! Keep Rockin !
Dude, you are so down to earth. Love this guy! Great interview!
You know, this man is talented and has always, really, connected with the audience.
The guys who worked him out of the former group, they may not realize it, but due to their actions, they LOST him.
The drummer is great, but this man made the group. Without him, the other guys have a karaoke band!
Strictly speaking, Mel is the better musician. Brewer is a big-mouthed dou*ch who literally cheated GFR fans out of more GFR. He is only exceeded by Terry Knight.
Mel? Sweet human.
True.
mark has so much charisma hes just bloody lovely 😍
Anolog is where it's at Brother....
''I'm An Analog Man" reminds me of Joe Walsh.
Analog sure ur right bro!
Marc is so enthusiastically cool.nothing is the same has been a revival for me
oh Don, how could you....?
Mark Farner -- awesome fellow. Genuine and intelligent. He was GFR! The vocals, the stage presence, the author of all of the songs. No doubt at all. If one fellow is instant recognizable as the leader of GFR it is Mark. GFR via Mark was with me throughout high school. Mark - just market yourself at Mark Farmer formerly of GFR. That is legal most likely. Although I would love to read your documents. I am a lawyer.
mark farner ok in my book. Flint native here.
Arion Stereo Chorus is Legendary !, Mark you Rule Dude !
Do you think this guy is passionate about his music???? His eyes light up when he talks gear.
Mark mastered the fine art of "foot pedaling" over 50 years ago! Just listen to "Paranoid", He is a wizard with effects!
Mark...I LOVE Your "Live Album"...Listen To It ALL The Time.Tell Me...What Does "T.N.U.C." Stand For?
CUNT spelled backwards! True. Oh yes the Live Album is so raw and powerful, incredible. Imo the only other live album to match its intensity is Deep Purple Made In Japan.
Correct
He's running 15 inch speakers ?
Yes, four of them. Two in the left cabinet and two in the right cabinet.
Compare this interview to the interviews of the KISS members being interviewed. KISS is a bunch of whiny drama queens running down their band mates with every utterance out for their mouths. Farner is definitely a much more down to earth fellow.
Don brewer messed up big time kicking out mark like that . Thanks mark for your heart towards the christ
Though Don and Mel put the screws to Mark. In all honesty Mark should have had the wherewithal to have the contract Don wanted him to sign gone over by Mark's lawyer. Unfortunately he was way too trusting in a business where you can't trust anyone. For me Mark is and always will be Grand Funk.
After what Terry did to them you'd think his bullsh*t radar would be finely tuned.
Face it everybody you don’t get that from those others from the FAKE GRAND FUNK you’re getting it from The Original GRAND FUNK RAILROAD 🇺🇸👍😎
he got screwed so badly👺👺👺
Mark is Grand Funk! Too bad Don screwed him
