    Hi! love your videos, they do help the community!
    My issue is that when I turn, I heard a super loud noise like when you are opening a wooden door of an old cabin house in a mystery movie, lol. It comes from the right side. I changed the springs and shock on both sides and still the same. 1988 420SEL

    Hello, 1990 w124 recent “tune up” including dist. Cap, plugs and wires. After 30-45 days of daily mixed city/hwy driving very rough idle began. Mechanic pulled plugs, and #3 was very wet with oil. He suspects a mechanical issue. I had him replace the coil and the voltage regulator on the alternator. Car is back to running smoothly. Haven’t driven enough to have an opinion on weather the coil may have been creating intermittent spark. Car has been in the family since new, I have owned for 110k miles. Total mileage is 220K. Valve job completed at 200K by retired Mercedes mech. This issue never happened until the recent tune up, so I’m a little skeptical about the oil blow by issue claimed by the mechanic. He was highly recommended and claims to be a certified Merc mechanic. Any thoughts? Thanks

    I had all the parts replaced you showed in this excellent video in my 90 W126 420SEL. It makes the car handle super smooth and quiet. The only knarr noise I still have on cold mornings with very small spring in motion on straight slow highway driving. I am pretty sure the rubber bearings on the torsion bar is the cause, since it is the only part I have not replaced. Have you experienced this problem? if yes it is possible to replace the driverside bearing without removing the breakbooster?

    • @mercedesclassicswithpierre1753
      @mercedesclassicswithpierre1753  5 лет назад

      on the 420sel and similar large 126s it is nearly impossible to to avoid removing it but the time involved is under 2 hours

    Hi sir. I had a problem with my sunroof. It works since the day I purchase the car. But, since then, it slows down and won't move. The motor works though. So it's obvious that it has to be lubricated. How do we access the mechanical parts in the sunroof?

    • @mercedesclassicswithpierre1753
      @mercedesclassicswithpierre1753  6 лет назад +1

      what model do you have? the sunroof should be lubricated where the guides slide in and out..you don't have to remove it at all. but they can be hard to see when you open it. basically, put lubricant on all the chrome parts, even the recessed ones. if it still hangs up the cable may be at fault, and should be lubricated from inside the trunk.

      I'm driving a 87 w126 300se. Maybe I'll check that out. Thanks. Hopefully I don't have to take the whole sunroof apart. Any idea as to where is it located? If the rails needs lubricant, how do I access it?

      Faruk De Souza - Mr. DeSouza- I just performed this service on my '75 450SEL. On my car you open the roof all the way, the chrome metal tracks will be exposed. Think of this track as a capital 'I'. Bend a metal acid brush to a 90 degree angle to brush the grease in the track. Work the roof back and forth to work it in. The guides, I believe are no longer made! They look like a lower case 'e' that was quashed, or snowmobile feet.
      You will need the special Mercedes sun roof grease, which apparently is very expensive. I purchased a sun roof restoration kit from a Mercedes specialist online. His $45 kit contains a very detailed booklet and maintenance and cleaning parts. I was successful with most of the process, but I could not get my cable back in. You can only perform the lubrication part of the job, or take the kit to a qualified independent mechanic for them to do it for you. Good luck!

    Hi Pierre, how are doing? I have a w126 which I was just starting to work on by myself. But my concern is that, where should I jack up the car with a floor jack, and where shall I place my jack stands? Some people say it's ok to jack up at the cross member, and some say ok at the sub frame. Can you advise us on that? Or perhaps a video on that?

    • @mercedesclassicswithpierre1753
      @mercedesclassicswithpierre1753  6 лет назад +1

      1. hjack at the cross member and with a piece of wood. Apply jackstands on the structural rails that run along the left and right side of the car with pieces of wood.

    I really love these repair alerts/descriptions when they pertain to the 126 chassis cars. A 1990 350SD car. Wow. The last of the true Mercedes Benz diesels. Pierre what do you think about the modern Bluetec diesels? Are they any good in comparison to the older ones like in this video?

    • @mercedesclassicswithpierre1753

    I really really want to do this to my 450SEL and my 450SL cars, but I don't have the facilities with a large enough garage to take things apart and work on them on the bench.
    I'd like to take the suspension apart replace the bushings, paint the control arms, the spots that the springs sit in and other spots like that. I like things to be done correctly. It just irks me that I cannot right now when I totally know how to! To me this stuff isn't work. If you enjoy your work you don't work a day in your life!

      thankfully on both of these cars the suspension systems are very robust...lower control arm bushings on 107, lower ball joints and upper control arms.
