    I have a 2017 Versys X300 ADV / ABS and I have seen the MPG as high as 67 and it has never shown below 60 MPG. The last time I filled up at 210 miles and It didn't take 4 gals. to fill it up, That's my personal experience. I am 76 and I don't get on interstates unless it is absolutely necessary. I enjoy 2 lane black top and don't mind a traffic signal or two going through smaller towns. People say it's about the journey, not the destination, but I say without a destination, there is no journey. 4 wheels move the body, 2 wheels move the soul. ✌

    Probably the 100th video I watched before delivery of my Himalayan which will still take about 20days, I absolutely loved it. For some reason, I feel Himalayan has a smile factor and I think a lot of people really don't care about speed in india even 80-90kmph is plenty fast for me, rest I want something that does well in snow ❄️

    • @RiderXp
      @RiderXp  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching, hope you liked this video #100 :). I agree, on Indian roads, 80-90 KMPH is plenty fast. Plus, on a Himalayan, one wants to enjoy the scenery and not speed through it. Good luck with the Himalayan delivery, I am aware that delivery time has been a challenge for RE for the past two years. But they're not alone, most manufacturers are experiencing similar delays.

      Great vid...very informative. I have had my 2020 KTM 390 since October 2020. I have just over 13000km in it now and 80% of those kms are on gravel logging roads and bush trails in Western Quebec. I find it is quite capable off road. I am not racing it so I take my time but still make it up the hill, over the rocks and through the creeks. If you want to rip through that stuff at speed get a true dirt bike or an enduro. I did the following upgrades: Bridgestone Battlax AX41's, Rox pivot handlebar risers, BDSB Endcap exhaust, Tusk tail plate, Tusk high fender kit, Double Take mirrors.

    Great review and very well presented. I like the data presentation on all the things that matter. I also like that you give the prices in many major markets (Aussie here). I have watched a few of these type videos to help me narrow down my short list. (I'm leaning towards a G310 GS atm).

      @RiderXp  2 года назад +1

      Hey! Thank you so much for the kind words! I try my best to keep up with the nuances across the major markets and it's a struggle to keep up with the homologation they do for individual countries but I don't give up easily. BMW is a great choice, I looked at one in 2018 and mistook it for the real deal for a moment, looks handsome and does the job quite well. At the end of the day, I believe all motorcycles are great, it just boils down to which one rocks your boat.. More videos coming, stay tuned! Cheers mate!

    • @kymstock1852
      @kymstock1852 2 года назад

      Hi Phil. Another Aussie here. IMO the 310 would suit if you are intending to do 90% road/10% on gravel. What would deter me from buying one is the fragility of the plastics ( same as the KTM) , the cast wheels are fragile when you hit rocks at speed, and in general the BMW legend of solid/ reliable bikes is a fallacy. I would select the Kawasaki if doing more road than trail, then maybe the Himalayan, then Honda if more dirt riding then road. Even then my DRZ400 with a big tank fitted might be a better deal cost wise.

      Thanks for the kind words! I love all of them to be honest :) Individual preference is what it all boils down to. Best first adventure bike?
    1) WiIl it depreciate in value a lot if I decide this type of riding is not for me? Lower price wins.
    2) Can I touch the ground easily in rough terrain?
    3) Does it provided tractable power delivery or wheel spin?
    4) Will it the body plastics break easily when I drop it, as you will invariably do if this is your first ADV bike. ( not KTM or BMW)
    5) Do spare parts cost a lot and are they available at short notice ( kept in stock by dealer network).? BMW/KTM fail?
    6) Is the suspension compliant over small bumps, yet able to cope with bigger hits? ( Not Honda/ too soft OEM)
    7) Are you intending to ride on road mainly with the occasional gravel road( KTM/ BMW) or possibly tackle rough terrain with big rocks ( wire wheels win here Kawasaki, Himalayan, Honda)
    I am not looking to buy my first ADV bike, more my last before I FOP ( fall off perch). Faced with the 5 bikes you compare very well, I would consider the Kawasaki for a fun little road bike that is dirt road capable. More likely for me to replace my much modified DRZ400 ( possibly superior to the Honda reviewed in power ,range, suspension and handling) I would buy the Himalayan as something different.

    • @RiderXp
      @RiderXp  Год назад +1

      Thank you. And the bias in favor of 390 is not a problem. I've ridden it and loved how much fun to ride that motor is. Then I rode the 890 and was blown away at how much giggle focused KTM is.. The only issue I consistently kept hearing about models upto 2021, especially in the RC390 format, was electronics failing and head gaskets blowing during racing scenarios. It does have a bad rap in US racing circles for that reason. Having said that, I do hear from owners that the 2022 and on models aren't as problematic. So that's always good news. Do share your ownership insights as well.

    Excellent format! Let me guess. You're in software or finance. I ask cause everything has that Excel feel to it which, of course, is the gold standard. :) My only suggestion is to put the bike's name above the graphic because on a tablet screen, it's a bit hard to see which bike is which.

    If Kawasaki would grow the Versys x 300 to 400cc with no weight gain it would be a HUGE WINNER!

      Oh absolutely! A lot of fans are just waiting for it. I can’t believe Kawi hasn’t figured that out yet. It’ll stomp everything out just like the Ninja400 destroyed competition.

    Hey guys, loved the video. I'm looking to buy a bike to be able to use it for uber/ gig type work. Il be riding 10hours daily, typically in residential neighborhoods but it needs to be able to ride decent on major highways too. It also needs to have some type of luggage rack where I can attach a food carrier of some sort. With all this can anyone PLEASE give me some advice? It needs to be reliable most importantly, the looks are of zero importance.

      Leaning to the Himalayan as it ticks most of the boxes, what do you guys think?

    • @RiderXp
      @RiderXp  Год назад +1

      The Versys would actually be the most reliable and serve the purpose.

      Та наверное все такие ездят 130-140, а потом "ой чо он так много жрёт". Мой Ниндзя 650 ест абсолютно столько же. Та и в принципе Z250 ел столько же, в районе 3.5 если ехать 110, и 4.5 если ехать 130.
