      In this day and age, I can't believe people would think anything is only for one gender. Anyone can do the work. The real question is: "Do you want to be around men all day every day?" It's the same for male nurses: "Are you ok with most (or all) of your co-workers being women?" Frankly, in my experience men get along better in the workplace than women do.

    Believe me when I say that it has NOTHING to do with gender. I'm a 45 yr old man, and I tried going to welding school. It was a MASSIVE disappointment. No matter what I did, I just was not able to grasp the proper technique or whatever is necessary to be a successful welder. It was a damn disaster. I thought I was going to change my life and my son's life by being able to work as a welder and earn a good living for us. It just wasn't meant to be. I didn't have what it takes to be a welder.

      I took a class in 2005. Learned to use an acetylene torch and stick welder. Where I worked , in a truck shop, they welded some sort of assembly together that was like a 1/2" tube within a bracket about 2 inches wide. Weld the tube to the bracket. I was too shaky making the welds. Maybe the welder wasn't on the right settings or something.

      Jesus christ, no offense but why does welding attract people with no current direction in life. We need skilled tradesmen not people who were just flipping burgers. Although good on you on going to school for it. IMO all skilled welders should have to get an associates degree for it.

Remember someone out there willing to work much cheaper than you and your manager will replace you over cheap labor 😉

    Welding requires fine motor skills. Women tend to have better fine motor skills than men, so the profession should be dominated by women. If they could weld during WWII (and a lot of them did), they can sure as hell weld now. Go Kayla!

    Whatever you do don’t enroll in Tulsa in the Houston area it is nothing like What you see in the commercials I’m glad to see that she’s doing good but the one in Houston is trash the instructors don’t care Basically for $20,000 you teach yourself how to weld save your money and find a different school to go to

    welding schools are a huge scam. in 20 or 30 years welders are going to be as in demand as printing press operators...everything will be 3d printed. My advise to any young welder is to pick a different trade

    • @hannacastMAKEUP
      @hannacastMAKEUP 3 года назад

      That’s not what the statistics are showing. You can’t 3D print giant nuclear subs. Which is what I am currently welding on.... the boomers are retiring and the new and up and comers will be in more high demand than ever!

    • @ogmius2001
      @ogmius2001 3 года назад

      @@hannacastMAKEUP you cant print a sub...now. in 10 years you can., in 20 it becomes cost effective...in 30 its standard.....its inevitable

    • @hannacastMAKEUP
      @hannacastMAKEUP 3 года назад

      @@ogmius2001 We will see. In 10 years I doubt they will have changed the system that fast....Considering the percentage. With a 3 percent markup from 2019 to 2029. All I’m seeing are upticks and higher demand for welders. The numbers don’t lie.

    • @ogmius2001
      @ogmius2001 3 года назад

      @@hannacastMAKEUP ignore numbers, use your eyes. a printer will never call in sick, whine about overtime or the lack of, doesnt need health insurance or osha regulations. the DOD is investing BIG TIME in 3d printing....the only thing holding it back was creating high tensile models...a boundary that was crossed just like 2 years ago and its already being put into application. Im old, I've got 30 years in already, so this revaluation of the industry will not affect me, but the young could get seriously hurt later in life being replaced by a robot

    • @hannacastMAKEUP
      @hannacastMAKEUP 3 года назад

      @@ogmius2001 I get what your saying I do. But I like to stick to the numbers, there are just some things a printer can’t do. Which is why they will never completely rely on machine. The other question is can these machines be expensive? So cost? And the other question is are they going to be faster then men on a job? More efficient? Without breaking down or needing parts.
