Thank you so much for this longer in depth behind the scenes at the greenhouse. I really appreciate all the work you guys do! It also helps fuel my curiosity during the colder months when most of the plants are asleep.
Thank you! The winter is like, the worst time to start this series in that so many plants are died back 😂🤦♀️ but starting in January there are so many plant chores! So I figured we’d dive in!
Since I live in Traverse City, MI I have been Following Sarracenia Northwest Monthly videos on care . Now I get to watch Damon, Daniela, and KATE in Cali do the same . THANK YOU for All the Lovely Quality Plants You have sold Me over the last 2 years. Plus all your growing tips and Video on care . So very Sorry about Peter I will always cherish his autographed first addition book as well as his latest . He will be sorely missed . With Love and Respect .
I never in a million years would've considered you a big impersonal corporation, but even so I LOVE this idea! Thank you for taking the time to show us your world!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, experience, and expertise ❤ If/when the trolls say you are anything other than dedicated, compassionate, kind, or full of integrity - please know that they are wrong! There are so many of us that feel connected to you, appreciate you, and know what you stand for. With love, we are in your corner. ❤
Damon, Daniela, this is such a great idea! Thank you for letting us behind the curtain and see your operation! Pretty much everything I know about carnivorous plants, I’ve learned from you and Peter’s book!!! So thank you for literally everything!!! This is the most fun hobby I’ve ever been involved with. :)
Suggestions for future videos. What are all the different jobs everyone does there? I’d LOVE to see Tiffany’s job and how she deals with packing so many plants. They’re packed so well!!! :) What does your horticultural team do during each season? Which season is the busiest for you guys? Same with your shipping team. Is there a season when you make more sales or is it just busy all the time?
Thank you!!!! I think we can definitely show you some of that stuff! I have a few crew members who are camera shy so they won’t ever want to film but we could totally show all those processes still!
Understandably youtube isn't the main business but I love the videos you put out. It has been an invaluable resource for someone new to the hobby and I rewatch videos because I can't get enough of calcarn!
Thank you so much for bringing us into your home ❤ Since you asked, I would love to see a video (or several) of you treating pests. Could be preventative, but more juicy would be an actually plant with pests and your methods 😎🫶🏼
So sad that CalCarn’s success can be a stigma. This video is great, nice to see behind the scenes🤗 wishing you continued success and condolences on the loss of, friend, mentor and business partner Peter 😞
Really appreciate your videos, it's helped me learn so much in a short amount of time, as well as inspire me to start my own collection! Love from Tasmania, Australia
Having purchased from your company for a few years, I've never had any thought that you were a mechanical corporation even as professional and polished your operation is. Watching your videos enhances that personal touch. So thanks and congrats on this new offering and good business to all of you, in the new year. So when will be being seeing you in your normal Tux suit, sans shovel? :-)
I was hoping you folks would give us a tour of the new place! I'm going to LOVE these monthly check ins! I've been growing CPs for about 20 years now myself. Thanks for doing these! Happy holidays!
I purchased a few nepenthes and sundews after watching your video about which carnivorous plants make the best houseplants. I enjoy them so much and love when you upload new videos. I am so excited for this new series and think it might be helpful to flash the name of whatever plant the camera may be showing if not stated. In this video, particularly when showing the pings, I was hoping I’d be able to see what the names were since I’d like to add some to my collection. There were a few that really caught my eye but I have no idea what they were.
Fun video, Thanks! I'm in the thumb crotch of Michigan. I'm in an old house with radiator heat. All of my pings are blooming like crazy. I have 2 that just came out of succulent stage. The sundews don't like the chilly window sills & had to be moved.
THANKS TOO “THE BOG FATHER” PETER WE HAVE CALIFORNIA CARNIVORES DAMON AND CREW REMEMBER PETER SOLD PLANTS TO PREDATORY PLANTS, CARNIVERO AND MANY NURSERY OWNERS BEFORE THEY BECAME NURSERY CALIFORNIA CARNIVORES WAS NEVER A COMPETITOR THEY WERE THE MENTORS AND FRIEND WHEN YOU NEEDED HELP GROWING THANK YOU DAMON&CREW❤❤❤
If you would mind, please letting me know what I could grow out here in Orange County California in a place called Aliso Viejo. I’m not sure what zone it is or how to find it but if you can find out what zone I am in and what I can grow your carnivorous wise, I would be internally grateful, and I will order from you if you do this.
You can grow just about anything there 😊 for houseplants you can grow Nepenthes, cape sundews and Mexican pings. And outside you can grow any of the sarracenia, Venus flytraps and temperate drosera!
I just about had the most terrifying experience repotting my Venus fly traps I about took a dump on myself because some of the soil fell away from the rise zone and now there’s a lot of traps that are closed due to being tricked, even some with dirt in them and I don’t know what to do about it but they’re pre-potted and they look good now, but I don’t know the consequences of doing this Although I did use the right soil do you think I will have any problems due to the traps closing with dirt in them?
That’s totally okay! They’ll pop back open in a day or two and the rain and wind will knock that soil out of the traps. Some of the traps may die back back that’s totally okay!
@ I usually have mine indoors these days, but I do take them out for sunlight every day for as many hours as I can, but since it’s December, sunlight is hard to catch

I loved there for several years! One of the most beautiful towns I've ever lived in. I miss that lake a LOT.
Thank you so much!!!! Kate will always be part of our CalCarn family but she’s now working full time as a fine art painter ❤️🌱
Love this new video concept. Sure wish you still had visiting days

Wow and I thought 3 yards of gravel was a lot 😂
Will you ever offer tours of CC?
We don’t currently plan to, the new space isn’t really conducive to it but never say never!
Should we still feed the small traps even though they are dormant.
No, you don’t need to feed them when they’re dormant

Hey, do you know if it’s safe to repot Venus fly traps in a plastic pot made of recycle material?
Yes! That’s safe!

@ well mine are actually indoor plants right now. I’ll put them outside during warmer weather.
