I love this show. Why it ever went away is beyond me, but if programs like this were still on the radio, I'd probably listen to it a lot more. Some day, I hope someone with the talent to do it justice brings Suspense - or something like it - back.
I know exactly what you mean!! Suspense Theater was on long before my time, but gosh, if people still made fun radio shows like this, I’d listen to them every day! I suppose they went out of style simply because it was hard to compete with television, but I sure wish they’d make a comeback. It would be so charmingly retro!! 📻 🥰
@@tonieabbott180 Exactly! Radio shows died because they couldn’t complete with television. People thought it was old-fashioned and corny. However, looking back it’s obvious to see that, in terms of storytelling, the golden age of radio was far more sophisticated, had better writing, and actually challenged the audience to think! An imagination is far more powerful and vivid than anything movies, television, or mindless video games can possibly portray. It’s simply a shame we’ve let this medium slip into virtual oblivion. New and flashy isn’t always better.
I've tried to get into later radio productions, but most plays beyond the decades of The 30s to 60s, have substandard acting. Some of the CBS radio mystery theater acting was good, but the majority of this type of radio done in 80s and 90s, such as Twilight Zone radio episodes introduced by Stacy Keach (he, of course is fine) leave me wanting at least just a bit of authenticity of the character. Actors in community theater, and even students in a High School production tend to leave a better impression on me more often than not.

SiriusXM has a radio station that plays these all the time, among others. That is how I ended up listening to them.
I think that radio plays delivered as podcasts could actually become popular again.

Thanks for posting.
It's sad how depression/mental illness was treated in the past.

Hello... if there is any way you can increase the volume❓please and thank you👍🏻
Susan Spencer Go to settings, click on music, under playback click EQ, click on late night, you’ll hear the volume increase.
I love the horrible hissing noise in the background.
Who died?! Gill or Lucia?
Lucia killed herself. You can hear Gill say that it was “better for her”at the end.
@@samanthashorey7323 Hey thanks the language at the end is so theatrical it was hard for me to tell
