Surveillance video shows towing company allegedly stealing a vehicle

- Police are investigating after a Milwaukee towing company is accused of stealing a truck and stripping it for parts.
Kim Brown says that’s exactly what happened to him.
A smashed window, sawed-off catalytic converters, a trashed transmission, and missing plates. Those are just a few items on a lengthy list of damages Brown was frustrated to find after recovering his stolen vehicle last week.
"He just snuck up to our vehicle, hooked it up real quick, and took off down the one way with it," he said.
Brown says he likely never would have found out who took his car if his family hadn’t tracked down surveillance video from a nearby business.
It shows Brown’s car legally parked on the street during the middle of the day on May 16 while he was at work.

Milwaukee, especially is filled with false, divisive history lessons in public schools, seek out the truth at the primary source as its humbling and unity bringing unlike all the “help” that’s caused decades of hurt. Some primary source filled stuff to start with would be, Pulitzer prize, winning author, James McPherson(even his kids picture book is and balanced). A simple read would be Harriette the Moses of her people, she approved that book during her lifetime. One of the best things that Milwaukee was getting was opportunity zones that were not based on race, that was the first thing Democrats got rid of. People are trained to react like Pavlovian dogs hating amazingly wise man like Ben Carson, because they were told to hate him.

Simply not renewing a license isnt enough. Its grand theft. Treat it as such.
Swift Towing is stealing cars, city solution is not perhaps not renewing their licence next time it comes up. Sounds like Swift Towing is a side hustle for a couple of Milwaukee police officers. Keep moving, nothing going on here!
Swift towing is nothing more then a front for a chop shop. The police and DA need to treat it accordingly.
A person steals a vehicle: Grand theft auto, thrown in jail.
A company steals a vehicle: No charges, no jail, no fines.

Businesses are by far the biggest thieves in the US. They steal about $40 billion annually in wage theft alone. Never mind thousands of lives ended by insurance company death panels, poisonous products, defective medical devices, Pentagon procurement fraud, etc, etc.
Just look at the $billions stolen from the paycheck protection plan.
But the tow companies are the cops friends, of course they'll get away with it.

I’m floored by his use of the word “inconvenience” to describe this situation. Loss of a vehicle can be legitimately life-changing for someone who can’t afford the repairs.

You need to confiscate all your vehicles especially the tow truck and the land and the content or inventory as this tow truck company calls it

@@mikefowler301 I think you should do more research, I didn't see anywhere in Wisconsin's state laws that specify a vehicle needing to cross state lines to become "grand theft auto", it doesn't seem they even list "grand theft auto" in their statute, just varying degrees of a felony. It seems most states qualify this by the value of the vehicle that was stolen.
Pretty common for "Towing" companies. Extortion, theft, and they have contracts with the City. Revoke their license to operate!

Sounds like an organized vehicle theft enterprise, and should be charged as such.
Revoke the licenses and arrest everyone listed in the company directory until someone squeals.
It is unfortunate, but things like this are getting worse, I am in cali, and my neighbors car got towed right out of her driveway. The tow truck was found about a mile away the driver was under the neighbors car, cutting the catalytic converter off along with removing the gas tank. The driver of the tow truck was arrested and is now taking a long vacation at the hotel graybar for the next 4 years. That guy was lucky it was a cop that caught him, it cost the tow company around $4,000 or more to pay for the repairs.
The owner of the company will just pay off the govt officials and keep his license, unless enough public sentiment gets behind this.
I sincerely doubt the owner has the kind of money to do that, in this case.

Got to admit, it's a pretty clever cover for a car theft ring. If you just steal someone's car and chop it for parts; that's grand theft, you go to prison for it. But, if you set up a fake towing company first, steal someone's car and chop it up for parts, you get your business license pulled.. then you just file for a new business license under a different name, never go to prison. Literally a license to steal.

They can still go to prison for this. And when they do go, it’s going to be for a whole lot more than getting caught stealing a car or it’s parts. It’s “organized crime.” A charge of racketeering is typically 20 years in jail and a $25,000 fine.

The people who stole the car should be charged with grand theft auto and go to jail. Some of the cars sound like they were "kidnapped" and the owners had to pay a ransom/extortion to get their cars back. These people should go to jail. Revoking their license is not justice.

Even if the vehicle was legally towed, it has to be stored in a secure lot until it is either picked up by the owner or it is considered legally abandoned. So not only did they commit grand theft, they robbed it of parts illegally.
The cars weren’t illegally towed, they were stolen and scrapped.

That owner of that towing company need to be charged or pay for that man to get a new car. You do not tow a car and then abandon it. What a bunch of BS. It was there driver and thus your responsibilty as a company to fix it.

Set up a towing company, steal cars, eventually you might (or might not) lose your licence and have to set up a new company.
Where’s the downside?
A few tow companies were caught illegally towing cars in and around San Francisco years ago. They claimed that their tows were legal, but it turns out that they weren’t. The city and/or state fined them, but I’m not sure if they were put out of business. The owners of those tow companies should have been charged with theft, but I don’t think that they were.

The "honest and knowledgeable" talking heads apparently missed the point that this is vehicle theft and didn't ask the police to explain what they are doing to catch the thief or why they didn't make the inquiry. It would be helpful for local residents to know that the cops are on it.
These crimes are because our Government doesn't do its job, I had a similar situation with an illegal moving company in Lincoln Rhode Island, It just happened to be the Chief of Police's friend running the illegal business who said it was a Civil case?

A point not noticed here is, If a person goes to cash in a cat convertor, they need to show ID so theft can be traced. The scrap dealer needs to be able to demonstrate the fact that the convertor was bought legally. Because of the huge replacement cost of these components , which in most states a legal requirement the salvaging of them is regulated. The ATow truck driver probably stole the convertor and sold them... if the punishment for car theft is based on the value of the goods (vehicle) stolen , then the courts need to be told just how much one costs to be replaced .
I had a tow company try to take my Corvette like that from the driveway in front of my house, when I saw what happened on the camera we discovered that they tow company had a vehicle on site just like mine that they were trying to rebuild. The police didn't do anything about it and they even tried to charge me for the tow.
